This Blur Busters article suggests capping framerates to 3 below the monitor's refresh rate. However, one of the goals seems to be eliminating tearing, which isn't as important as delayed information or input lag in things like competitive FPSes. Intuitively, doesn't it make more sense that an uncapped framerate would provide you the most up-to-date information?
I play Valorant on a 60hz TV that doesn't support G-Sync or FreeSync. If I don't cap the framerate to 80-100ish, I get huge freezes / frame drops. Unsure if it's just in my head, but limiting the FPS to 57 felt a bit sluggish. Any ideas on what the ideal settings would be?
