Thanks for your help mate - got some paste + rubbing alcohol arriving Monday so I can completely remount it then - until then I guess I've got a pretty warm Netflix box

I recently built my first PC, CPU being an i7 6700k and using a corsair H100i RGB cpu cooler, after a few days I've had a few issues with my cpu temperature being stupidly high (sitting around 50c idle after being booted a while). However I've realised through this that my pump is remaining cool no matter what (never going above 30c even while gaming) - I'm wondering if people think this is a mounting/pasting issue (user error while mounting) or if my cpu itself could be faulty? any help is appreciated as stated before this is my first build.
