  1. Hello! In the last couple of weeks I'm trying to overclock my old desktop playing around in the BIOS settings, trying to figure out how CPU overclock works and what can be gained overclocking a CPU. I'm new on this and I quickly learn that is hard to find specific information that can relate to my hardware exactly. I'm making this post to ask some of my questions and I will be very grateful if someone can answer some of them. My system: MB: Asrock P55M Pro CPU: i5-750 (Cooler: Snowman MT-4) GPU: Gigabyte GTX 750 ti RAM: Corsair XMS3 2GB 1600MHz (x4) SSD: Samsung 860 EVO Questions: 1) Asrock has a lot of auto-overclock features (CPU EZ OC, Memory EZ OC, GPU EZ OC and a complete system overclock called Turbo 50. Are these features any good? I have tried Turbo 50 (you can choose between 40% and 50% performance increase. I chose 40%) My system was really 40% better in Cinebench but I saw no performance increase over gaming benchmarks like Final Fantasy XV Benchmark. My CPU was stable running these benchmarks at 3.8GHz and with relatively cool temperatures about 70c in CPU stress test , but after some days I got 2 blue screens in 1 week and with no stress at all I was just watching YouTube both times. Now I'm back to stock speeds. Could this be random? Is auto-overclocking a good choice? 2) I tried to manually overclock my CPU. Tweaking the base clock from 133 to 180, CPU multiplier to 20, and +0.1 CPU voltage. I left everything else as it was. Should I change any other settings? Do I have to increase or decrees RAM speed? IDG and QPI settings? what about all the other voltage settings like DRAM,VTT,PCH,PLL? 3) Is there an different getting the same CPU speed from different Base clock to Multiplier ratio? is 100MHz x20 the same as 200MHz x10? 4) When I overclock sometimes I get a locked CPU speed and sometimes I get a variable CPU speed. Why is this happening? One time I get a CPU running from 800Mhz to 3800Mhz constantly changing speed back and forward and some other time I get a CPU speed locked at 3800Mhz with no fluctuation at all. How is this possible? The multiplier settings is the same on both occasions. Should I get a variable or a locked CPU speed? 5) I like reliability. I'm very happy with my system that is running with no problems after 10 years. At this time I'm ok overclocking because I will have to get a newer system sooner or later But when I will get one should I overclock it? Is overclocking harmful for the system assuming that you make all the right settings and you got no problem overheating? Thanks for your time! Any information will be much appreciated
  2. Sorry about that, I will make new post next time! Thank you! Now I know thanks to you. I will try to overclock my 10 years old i5-750 with my Asrock P55m Pro. Wish me good luck :P
  3. @Lord Nicoll hello! can you please explain what do you mean by saying "not soldered" ?
  4. I'm a nooby here please explain me, what do you mean is not soldered? It has an IHS right? What's the problem?
