Would sooner buy a motorcycle, than ever paying out current, post-covid prices for a new car (of which, I already have a license for).

That said, happily, at 204K miles, my 2013 Mazda 3 is doing pretty decently.

I got the cpu, mobo, ram, storage  that old gpu, all for free. the only thing I will be buying myself is the 1080ti. The build in its current state is below.
(I know its a bad picture)

I always have to laugh when one person has an issue, doesn't properly check components for the source of issue and then turns that into a PSA to not buy a brand.

12900kf and a 3080 Ti? I wouldn't put that on a single 360 rad, I'd want at least two personally. Radiators are where the heat is dissipated so the more the better, especially for parts like the 12900kf and 3080 Ti, both of which are quite power hungry (and as a result, produce a lot of heat).

Sir Beregond got a reaction from Paul17 in 4070 vs used 3090?
I would have concerns with the 3090 as a mining card, that they didn't run it with the vram chips overheating. This was a big problem on specifically 3090's due to them having rear mounted chips as well.

Aside from that, it's the superior performer over the 4070 which at best matches a 3080. Where the 4070 wins over the 3090 and even the 3080 is the power usage is much lower, but honestly its still way overpriced given the specs.

I did flip the bottom fans to be intakes in pull a day or two after taking this picture. And you better believe any RGB was turned off.

The Barrowch flow meter seems to be doing great reading coolant temps, but flow readings leave much to be desired and at some point this will be replaced by a proper Aquacomputer unit. I have an Octo mounted to the back as my fan controller and would be nice to get a proper flow reading that can feed data into Aquasuite.

Yeah that's the same with Steelcase. When they closed our office this year it was still full of Steelcase Leap v2's. Tried to get them to sell me one, but apparently all the furniture had to stay as part of their agreement to get out of the lease.

But that goes to your next point. Offices are so chock full of Steelcase, Herman Miller, Knoll, and other products, it almost never makes sense to buy one of these chairs new. I bought a refurbished Leap where they replace the foam and the fabric and aside from some scuffs here and there to the chair body, its pretty nice. Between refurbs, office closeouts, etc. its not hard to get one of these high end chairs for much less than the cost of new.

    Eh?

To the OP , Based on various benchmark sources(tomshardware , HW Unboxed aswell as techpowerup) it looks like a 6800XT is around 10-15% faster depending on the games being played.

Whether that makes sense from a cost perpective is entirely up to you.

Both are solid 1440p cards and you can't go wrong with either.

I ran a RX 5700 XT THICC III Ultra in a similar case with a set of 5 antec fans with no problem. The 6700XT has 5W higher TDP and your CPU has a low power consumption so you should be fine. If the price to performance is better and you prefer it then get the 6700XT

    Thank you for the tips!
I did follow a youtube video that did exactly what youre warning me of here.

Ill try and look into how to do it properly now that I have this info (very helpful image btw)

All of this is quite new to me, ive done a little overclocking in the past but mainly just some basic afterburner stuff.

    I appreciate the help!

You've essentially got it. The idea being that for any given clock in your voltage curve, you are using less voltage than you would at stock which like you said, gives you a bit of thermal headroom. Most usually just cap the max voltage as well once you find the clock limit for stable boosts before it starts bouncing around a lot.

I'll warn you though, most of the videos you find on youtube for undervolting in Afteburner are doing it way wrong. See the chart below. Most will do the method that gives you the red line which actually overvolts most of the frequency curve. Remember that in afterburner, the frequency is on the left while the voltage is on the bottom, so to undervolt, you are actually raising the line, not lowering it. See the green line.

And what a crock those were. Original Titan comes out as basically the first $1k consumer card and they don't even have the decency to make it the full GK110 die which never came until they were forced to release the 780 Ti due to the 290X smoking them. And then I believe the Titan Black as well at that point as it and the 780 Ti have the same number of cores.

Sorry, do not know the market in your area. These are about $200 here. But some of the other suggestions above are good as well for used market.

EDIT: 5700 XT should trade blows with a 6600 XT. 5700XT will be a lot faster than a 1660 Super. A 1070 will be better or about the same as a 1660 Super depending on title. A used 1080 would be about on par with a 5700XT but usually slightly slower. Out of the 1660S, 1070, 1080, or 5700XT, I'd go 5700XT if a 6600 XT is out of budget.

VPP655 is just a D5 rebrand, and a good pump. The VPP755 is the custom pump Alphacool made that just happens to be the same shape/size as a D5, but its had TONS of problems.

EK is ridiculously expensive and not even all that great. Their quality control is complete garbage and they are not even top performers for what they cost. And this isn't a new phenomenon either. I bought some EK blocks in 2015 and brand new they were missing mounting hardware, and the nickel plating was shoddy and flaked off rather quickly. For newer examples, their direct die block for LGA1700 seems to be a dud, and for as many people that have had good experiences with ZMT tubing from EK, I can point to many forums threads of people having absolutely nothing but problems with it being dirty and flaking off small pieces of rubber over time. Moreover EK can't get the ID/OD specs right on that tubing to save their lives which is why you also get a ton of posts from people talking about how it won't fit with their non-EK fittings.

EK is massively overrated and overpriced.
