  1. https://www.speedtest.net/result/c/70b7fba8-602e-45db-8fdd-ac4296c93cc1
  2. Vodafone, Watford is about the best. I have the same issues. First world problems eh haha
  3. The best advice i can give is LEAVE TalkTalk - probably the worst UK consumer ISP for speeds/reliability, regardless what they try and "advertise" I can recommend Zen if you only have an option of FTTC. Much more reliable connection and they also provide the very good Fritzbox routers. You can then buymesh addons if you wish for that.
  4. Keep an eye on their offers for the Eero's - they will be reducing more probably (especially black friday) as the newer wifi 6 models are due.
  5. Hmm yeah, could have issues. What I would do, buy from Amazon to try a couple of different things. Send back what you don't need - Amazon are great like that! If Powerline pass through ok, use that, much better than relying on Wireless (even through Mesh)
  6. then I have no idea why it would not work for you. I've personally never had issues anywhere with powerline adaptors and have used them for many years.
  7. this will happen if: a) your property has bad wiring b) if you try and pass through to different circuits ( i think!)
  8. Powerline adaptors if you cant run cable. Save yourself a fortune, no need to spend £400.
  9. When I was messing with multiple inputs to try and get a single "better" speed, after dabbling with Dispatch for a while I landed on Speedify. It's not perfect, but it does do what you want.
  10. Essentially the issue is ah his end, the source. So whatever you do at your end will make little difference, the problems are with his initial connection to the web. However...that may not mean there is nothing that can be done. Some things to consider (which actually you are kind of almost getting at) Where does he mainly need to connect to (end point) Is there a better route to this end point? For the above, the way to look at it is. Your friend connects from his ISP (source) and ultimately struggles with slow speed at somewhere down the line (end point) so he wants to find out is there a better route to take to get to the end point. Think traffic in a city, taking another route to get to the destination faster. A way he could try quite easily is a VPN. The connecting to different locations (services provide lots!) and see how it performs with each. Have a look for some free trials of different VPN services before spending any money as it may not help and it could be that his ISP just had crappy routing to everywhere no matter what!
  11. check out speedify - I've used it in the past and it works well. It will combine multiple into one, very cheap as well really. this iwll give you true double speeds as well rather than load balancing etc.
  12. forget wifi for a moment, plug a machine directly into the router with ethernet cable, do a coople of speed tests, what do you get? If this is bad, then the issue is at least not wifi, if this is good, then next step is to tacle the wifi issues.
  13. That’s some saving on core requirements there! So in theory, nothing stopping me running this in a VM within unraid? Just allocate a solaflare to the VM exclusively, 1 x input for WAN the other connected to a switch?
  14. As I patiently wait for my 10Gbps upgrade I have to struggle along with this...
