  1. Well both rams cost the same, one is just more aesthichly pleasing. I guess that is up to me if I want a 1-3% gain or a better looking ram
  2. Weird, I have read in so many places 3600 as the sweet spot. Was not aware 3200 with the official recommendation by AMD. By any chance do you know of the new 5000 series will be the same? Or would it be better to wait and see?
  3. Hello, Since I am new to the pc world I am not too familiar with it all. I've done my homework though and read that 3600 CL16 is the sweet spot for AMD Ryzen. However I see many people say that OC ram is easy especially from 3200 to 3600. I am currently in between two rams that are in the same range for my new PC but cannot decide which is better. The main difference being the specs but also that the 3200 is so much more aesthichly pleasing. I am sure there is more to OC so if anyone can let me know if there would be much of a performance difference and if just getting the 3600 is better. 3200 - Trident Z Royal -https://www.gskill.com/product/165/299/1552463037/F4-3200C16D-32GTRSTrident-Z-RoyalDDR4-3200MHz-CL16-18-18-38-1.35V32GB-(2x16GB) 3600 - Crucial Ballistix - https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl2k16g36c16u4w Thank you for your help!
  4. If I am just using the nvme as a boot drive and more than likely also any files/programs not related to gaming, is there a justification for needing the extra 500 GB. Does having a more capacity affect the speed or endurance of the SSD? I am looking for it to last at least a good 5+ years.
  5. Thank you. I was already leaning towards speed but just wanted to see if others would something I do not. I do have a secondary SSD which will be used to hold all the games. I watched a recent video by hardware unboxed showing that there is not much of a difference for loading time between NVME and Sata SSDs so not too worried of not having games saved in my boot drive.

I am not sure if it would be better to go for the new Samsung 980 Pro 500GB or the older Sabrent Rocket 4 1Tb. They are both 4.0 which my mobo supports. The Samsung is faster but is 500GB enough for a boot drive? Is speed more important that capacity for a boot drive? I do have a secondary 2tb SSD for my games. Both the Samsung 980 Pro and Sabrent cost around the same. I know the new Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus is coming out soon (and pretty much similar to the Samsung 980 Pro specs) but there is a deal for the Sabrent Rocket 4 that ends today so need to make the decision. https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/980-pro-pcie-4-0-nvme-ssd-1tb-mz-v8p1t0b-am/ https://www.sabrent.com/product/SB-ROCKET-NVMe4-1TB/1tb-rocket-nvme-pcie-4-0-m-2-2280-internal-ssd-maximum-performance-solid-state-drive/ Thank you!
  7. Hello, I am building a PC for the first time using the new RTX 3090 and a new Zen 3 AMD Chip that will probably the equivalent to the current Ryzen 3900x. I am looking into different ram and based on several suggestions and posts is that the sweet spot for RAM for AMD is 3600 CL16. I am looking to get 32gb even though I am mostly using the PC mostly for gaming. I am aware that 32gb might be overkill for just gaming but just trying to future proof for the coming years. I found this ram which fits the aesthetics I an trying to get for the PC (Black and White RGB Free) so I know there are cheaper options but this fits what I am looking for (even though sadly it is CL17). The only concerns and hoping someone can answer are that the RAM is from 2018 so not sure if that can outdate certain specs? and that the specs also list the chipset towards Intel, so does that mean it won't be as compatible with AMD? Will it hinder any performance? This is also a broad question, but is it best to wait for the announcement for the Zen 3 chips in case the best compatible speed will no longer be 3600 but lets say 4000? Has there been any leaks or rumors about that? https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232478?item=9SIA4YU59N1251&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googlemkp-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googlemkp-pc-_-pla-memoryc-_-memory+(desktop+memory)-_-9SIA4YU59N1251&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqfz6BRD8ARIsAIXQCf1BIHGicZObrac_YLHj322CMEccQdJ-p-T3vrBy-gkqLY-oVu4SxMYaAn8iEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Thank you,
  8. Hello, Can someone help in deciding whether I should get a corsair RMX 850 or Corsair HI 1000? It's only a $50 different. I am planning to use the RTX 3090 and one of the new AMD Zen 3 cpu (more than likely being the equivalent of the current 3900x at the moment).
  9. Well just curious how it fares with gaming as it is aimed for creators. Do you do any sort of gaming?
  10. The CPU is overkill but like I said I want to upgrade every 4-5 years and I think just getting a higher end will help make it last longer in terms of keeping up with game requirements. Same with the RAM, I don't mind spending a bit more to get 32gb 3600 cl16 to get longevity. Will definitely look into the other suggestions and see their specs.
  11. Okay I figured that's how it works. Thank you!
  12. Budget (including currency): $3000 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details: Hi All, I posted a few days ago but now think I have completed the list of parts for my new PC. This is the first time I am even owning a PC as I usually just used a laptop so want to get this right the first time. So if you have any criticisms or suggestions please let me know. Here is a bit of what I was looking for - $3000 budget RGB Free (White and Black) Mostly Gaming use but I want sleek minimalistic feel to the setup New CPU and GPU ready (AMD Zen 3 and Nividia 3090) 4-5 year life before needing to upgrade I also need to buy the computer periphials like the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. I am still looking for the right monitor so welcome to suggestions on that. For the mouse and keyboard I am looking at the new Razer Pro Type and Click (although without usb-c kind of a downer) due to its sleek design. Since pcpartpicker does not have a complete list of things, want to mention that the GPU would be the 3090 and the chip would be one of the new Zen 3 (debating if I should get a cheap chip for the meantime since there is still no confirmed release date). Also not on the list are some Arctic P14 fans. Like I said, first time building a PC so if there are any parts I am missing such as cables please let me know. Also can someone explain how I install windows. I am sure I can find a guide somewhere but do I need to have usb read of some sorts? 13. So it seems all the replies so far are talking about how sub par the heatsink is. I guess I should go for something like the Asus Prime X570 Pro
  14. Hello, Building a new high end PC for the first time which will be mostly for gaming. I know I will be getting the new AMD Zen 3 so trying to find the right motherboard. I found this motherboard and was wondering if anyone has first hand experience with it or know any videos review about it. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550-VISION-D-rev-10#kf I love the design of it (looking for a white rgb free look) and it seems to have great features. My only concerns for it though is that one it is listed as a motherboard for creators so not sure if it would be good for gaming and that it is a B550. Supposedly for that price it is recommended to get an X570 but I don't know if I would use all the features in an X570 motherboard. In reality the design and color scheme is what has my attention the most.
  15. Budget (including currency): $3,000 - $3,500 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello, So this will be my first PC. Not custom PC, first PC ever. I usually just buy a laptop every few years but I am at a point where I am stationary in life and I have gotten increasingly interested in technology and PC building. I was one of those person who just looked at the CPU and ram when purchasing a laptop and did not know about anything else. I have done good amount of research but I am still fairly new to all of this so any tips are highly welcomed. So I am looking for a higher end PC because I want it to last for around 5 years before I need to replace it. With the new RTX 3000s coming out and possibly new AMD CPUs also coming out, I figured it would be the best time to do this. My budget is around $3000 (but this also includes the purchase of a monitor, keyboard, and mouse) but if need be I am willing to push it to $3,500. I am looking for something white/gray RGB free as I really fell in love with how the Youtuber Dave Lee had his set up. Here is what I have so far - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HpmVhg (the GPU would be the 3090). CPU AMD Ryzen 3900x unless it is best to wait for the new 4000 series CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D15 Chromax.Black Motherboard MSI MPG X570 or Gigabyte B550 VISION D. The Gigabyte has a beautiful design but it is oriented towards creators and is also B550. I read X570 is better. Memory G.Skill Trident Z Royal 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4 3600 although I am wondering if maybe I should just go for the 64GB (2 x 32 GB). Storage Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB. I do not know much about SSD so any suggestions are appreciated. Do I need two of them? Should I wait for the new Samsung 980 SSD or new Sabrent PCEi SSD? Video Card RTX 3090 but if budget goes to much would need to settle for 3080. Case Fractal Design Define 7 ATX Mid Tower Case. I am however open to other suggestions but as long as it is white/silver and simplistic. Power Supply Corsair RMx White RM850x. I think I read that 750 watts is the minimum for the new 3090 but do let me know if I am wrong. Monitor Still looking. Not sure what is the best to get the most out of the new graphic card. I do not need anything with crazy refresh rates as I am not into fps games but I read Alienware is going to release a new monitor soon so might look into that. Keyboard Between Razer Hunter Mini, Razer Blackwidow Mercury, or Razer Pro Type. I admit I have not done must research on keyboards but I have heard good things about Razer. Mouse Still working but I liked the mouse Dave Lee was using Pwnage Ultra Custom Wireless Ergo. Looking forward to everyone's help and like I said this is my first time building a PC and owning one so if I need to know about any other things I would need to purchase please let me know.
