  1. Budget (including currency): ~3,200 USD Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Video Games (And VR); I want to get into streaming, video editing, and music production as well. Other details: I'll be looking to use this build with a 1440p 240hz Monitor as well as a 4K monitor. And VR This is what I have currently drafted up. My main question is on RAM. I went with Corsair for the ability to sync all of my RGB pretty nicely but I am not sure if it will quite the best. I have been looking at RAM stats for Ryzen 3 but I'm not exactly sure on what the consensus has become. Any recommendations are more than welcome for this build. Thanks! PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TkYDwz CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor ($550.00) CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($169.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 AORUS MASTER ATX AM4 Motherboard Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($344.00 @ Amazon) Storage: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($199.98 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus GeForce RTX 3080 10 GB STRIX GAMING OC Video Card ($800.00) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair HX Platinum 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($207.50 @ Amazon) Case Fan: Corsair LL120 43.25 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack (Purchased For $0.00) Case Fan: Corsair LL120 43.25 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack (Purchased For $0.00) Total: $2271.47
  2. I'm looking to build a new higher end pc and I want to understand RAM specs better. What is the differences that I'd see between two types of RAM? I have been looking at Corsair Vengeance 2x16 @ DDR4-4000 with timings of 18-22-22-42 But that has higher timings compared to something like: G.Skill Trident Z 2x16 @ DDR4-3866 with timings of 18-18-18-38 (and about $35 cheaper) So what is the differences here. What programs would benefit from higher frequency and which from lower timings? (For reference this is the build I am currently looking for)
  3. So.... I dont know how to post a good parts list from PC part picker and have been struggling
  4. So I am planning on building a new PC and am debating if I should go with 64 GB of 3600 RAM or 32 GB of 4000 right when I buy all my parts? If I do go with the 4000 option, I'd upgrade to 64 Gbs when I have more money to do that upgrade. I assume that makes the decision sorta obvious but thought I should ask people who are more knowledgeable on this than I am. If I go with the 3600 option I'd go with the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32 DDR4-3600 But if I go with the 4000 option, I have been looking at the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB DDR4-4000 The Corsair seems more appealing at the moment because my build already uses a lot of Corsair rgb (iCUE H150i Elite & Corsair LL120 fans).
  5. If I may do custom water cooling like.... next summer or just eventually, should I get this case now?
  6. Ok, so I took both of your lists and did some more research on what I'm looking for and I came up with this: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/charmander170/saved/JXBW4D (I dont know how to do the cool lists like you both did.... and hopefully this link works, idk) I think there are compatibility problems with the MOBO and the case with USB ports but I'm not totally sure. What would you suggest different with this build or how to get those compatibility problems to go away? In order to get these compatibility problems to go away and have all the ports on the case work, I can go over the "$3000" budget by a little, just want everything to work that I have. (ALSO the Monitor is there in place of the GPU price) And I probably will get the 5950X more towards the end of the year @HelpfulTechWizard & @HairlessMonkeyBoy
  7. Thanks for the build idea! I think it all looks pretty good for what I am wanting. Right now I am a little concerned on the case I am getting. Is there another full tower case that you would suggest that would be better in temp and noise than the be quite! case? Also, are there any changes you would suggest to improve this build? From what it seems, it will do everything I want very well. Just thought I'd ask if there was anything. Oh! Other question: Why did you choose this Mobo in particular? I don't know much about Mobos so it would be good to get an idea why you chose this board over others.
  8. Thanks a lot for the help! I just had a few questions and things for clarity that I wanted to see why you did certain things.
  9. Budget (including currency): ~$3000; Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: For the most part FPS games (csgo, r6 valorant) but I also want to be able to run any single player game at high graphics with no problems. I also want to be able to stream from this PC and do video editing. I do have my current computer though that I will make into my streaming pc later down the line. Monitors: (This isn't included in the $3000 budget but if you have suggestions, that would help) I prefer a dual monitor setup and want to be going to a 1440p 240hz monitor but with 4k and 360hz becoming more popular I want this build to be able to last into that shift. Peripherals: None needed Currently have: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/charmander170/saved/sR2rD3 What I am wanting: GPU: New generation GPU; so either 3080 or whatever AMD has to offer that beats that (put this at around $700?) CPU: Waiting for Zen 3 and will buy from that (say it comes a little bit higher than last gen soooo $350-$400?) Cooling: Probably just an air cooler; nothing too fancy. I know that air cooling preforms basically the same, if not better than water cooling so it comes to cost and aesthetics. Which would you suggest? RAM: Probably 32 GB DDR4-3600; Maybe DDR4-4000 MOBO: I've been suggested the B550 Tomahawk but that was for a lower budget; M.2 support; What MOBO should I be trying to get for this coming generation of CPUs; I also want high modularity (right word?) for many fans and pretty rgb colors; This will be for a full sized case; support for wifi if possible Storage: Right now I am running pretty low on solid state storage and am at about half on hard drive; I know I don't currently have a lot of storage but with moving into more video editing and with games getting bigger and bigger, I don't want to have it be an issue. I probably should upgrade to a terabyte SSD M.2 and a couple terabyte Hard drive. Just to overkill it but if you think I'd be fine with just a terabyte SSD then tell me PSU: Needs to support everything and not blow up I really dont have more specification than that since the watt use from the new AMD cpus and gpus is not set in stone yet; Probably the Corsair 750W 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply but I may need more power; I really don't know Case: I'd like to upgrade to a full tower case in order to gain the most amount of room for cooling as well as enough room for everything to fit super comfortably and look nice. I like on my current case that it has a window. Also the ability to put in more fans later if I need more air flow then that would be good to accommodate. I have been looking at the be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 Orange rev.2 as a case because it seems to have quite a few unique features. It has been hard to find much variety in full tower cases, but I may just be looking in the wrong places. Extras: This doesn't have to be included in the budget buuuut I do want to be putting more fans into this build (rgb colors because.... pretty) so if you have suggestions for these that would be great. Aaaand I believe that's it. If I missed anything or if you have questions, I'll be on top of the comments and will get back to you quickly. Thank you for any time you spend on this. I am just still new to PC building so when I tried to start researching parts again, I got lost and so I came here for help. I want this build to be the build that I can just upgrade parts into as I can, that's why I want to go full sized with this build just to future proof myself. I will probably be buying the parts in batches as I can or when they are on sales since the end of the year is coming. I just want a really good PC that I don't have to worry about frames too much or have to worry that it is too hot or loud. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
  10. Got it, got it. So all we know currently about the x670 is that it is coming with the ryzen 4000 series, right?
  11. Also about the case, do you think I should go for a full tower size or will the mid tower size be ok?? I just don't know if it would be better just to go full now instead of later
  12. I assume that the RAM and everything else should work with the Ryzen 4000 series too right?
  13. Ok awesome! I'll take a look at it! I was thinking going 32 GB of RAM but I assume the 16GB sticks are just as good as the 8 GB, right?
  14. Ok those are two good points that I didn't even know about. For the when: I don't have all the money right now and I am still ok with using my current PC for a while or just slapping in my current CPU into my new build till the new Ryzen 4000 is out. And for air cooling: I didn't even know about that aspect of it. I was just under the market assumption that water cooling is better but if it really isn't and is really only better for the look of the pc then ehhh doesn't really matter. Go with what you think is best!
