Just came in the mail: Corsair iCue 465X Black.

I'll be putting a 3700X in there (deal) in an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon Max WiFi with 32GB (2x16GB) G-Skill Trident-Z 3600CL17.
Storage will be 1TB Samsung 970 EVO (deal!) and 4TB WD Blue HDD, and it'll be powered by a Cooler Master MWE Gold 650W full modular.
Graphics cards aren't available, so I'll stick to my GTX 980 for now, and hopefully upgrade in the spring.

Looking forward to building this. 🙂

EDIT: Just opened up the back panel, and they gave me a Commander Pro unit with it! What the heck? That thing costs like 60 bucks!

I'm only supposed to get the top one, the lighting node, and not even with a cover on it. It's supposed to be a bare part.
But instead they gave me a proper one, and strapped a massive control unit below it. That is a Commander Pro, right?

Asthereal got a reaction from Frandesktop in PC not posting with Radeon R9 290 on Intel DH61WW motherboard
Yeah I don't think it's the PSU anyway. The 290 draws 300W max at stock, if I recall correctly, and you have 750W to play with. That CM unit isn't bad either. It's just not the most efficient.

Have you tried to clear CMOS and reseat the card?

I literally just installed a different GPU in my backup system (R7 360, should fit okay with the Phenom II X4 955 on DDR2 🙂 ), and it wouldn't post at first either.
I cleared CMOS and reseated the GPU, and then it posted after a few cycles.

Unfortunately for you, I'm probably picking up two 75Hz panels, as I am a VERY casual gamer.

(Frustration of the day: I was about to buy two, but when I added the second one to my cart, the delivery date moved to a day when I'm not at home, so I couldn't buy two at the same time. Then I got frustrated and decided not to buy anything just yet.)

But you're right, it's probably a good idea to wait for a few reviews on this one, if you can. I did see a number of reviews of the AOC 144Hz 1440p 27" VA panel that's supposed to cost around €280-300ish, but the viewing angles aren't great apparently, and I don't ever sit still, so I decided against that one. Might be a factor for OP as well, hence my IPS rec.

The Gigabyte G27Q looks quite compelling to me, at least at the price point here in the Netherlands (€~350). I'm not buying it because it uses like 60W of power (according to the specs), and I'd like to keep the power bill down, plus I'll be picking up two of the same monitor. But if you're only getting one and the power bill isn't a serious issue this monitor looks like a very good price to performance option.

bellabichin is right on the money here. It's all about what you do with your system and what you're okay with.

Do you play CS:GO? Then what the heck? NO, you're fine. CS:GO is from like 40 years ago. (Exaggeration.)
Do you play at 4K resolution, or at 1440p ultrawide? Then you're usually fine.
Do you play at 2560x1440px at 144Hz? Then you're mostly fine. Depending on the game you should still get a lot out of that monitor.
Do you play at 1440p 60Hz or 1080p 144Hz or less? Get a better CPU. Your R5 2600 is now, or is quickly going to become a bottleneck.

But others here: feel free to supplement. I might be off in certain games. And you know how this works.

Asthereal got a reaction from Moonzy in I get low fps with i7 930 and Rx 570
The RX570 probably has some life left, but the i7 930 is rather old. From before the big jump Intel made with Sandy Bridge.
I fear you'll need to upgrade your platform. New i5 or Ryzen 5 should be a massive jump, but you'll need CPU, MoBo and RAM.
Second hand market might be an option, but that depends on where you live, and Intel tends to be overpriced, so don't overpay.

@alyen That Cougar case looks better than the NR600 ODD for sure. It looks to be a tad mediocre in build quality, and it's indeed kinda hard to get in the Netherlands, but I'll see if I can find one in a shop where I can have a look at it. It does tick all the boxes.

@TVwazhere Hey that's a good one. It's actually somewhat available where I live and build quality looks very solid. Thanks, I might actually go for that one.
Also, nice shirt. I have that one in purple.

I would go for the Ryzen 3 3300X, if you can find one.
Pair that with a budget B550 board and 16GB (2x8) of standard 3200MHz CL16 RAM.

Everything below this is starting to get bad from a bang for buck point of view, so if the budget doesn't stretch this far, perhaps the second hand market is an option.

Could be a couple of things. What happened to me once, was that on-board audio got disabled in BIOS after installing new hardware (yes, prebuilts have VERY dumb BIOSses sometimes...). So that's worth a check if the cables all look fine.

True. Perhaps it's not a big deal, but the fact that it might be, in my opinion, is worth the wait for proper reviews. Shouldn't be long anyway. 🙂

Your PSU should have one 4+4 for CPU power attached to the non-modular bit, and two 6+2 connectors that are modular, and meant for GPU power. Those two should be able to connect to the converter for the reference RTX 3080, which has the new 12 pin connector. There might be AIB 3080s that want three 6+2 connectors though, and if you want one of those, you have to check whether your PSU's 6+2 cables have an extra 6+2 connector daisychained to them. If so, you're probably okay. Don't overclock too far though. Daisychains are quite bad.
