RazrLeaf got a reaction from Technous285 in EU accuses Google of Android abuse
I fear that the user experience will deteriorate for Android smartphone users in the EU.  The amount of bloatware that can't be uninstalled is already high.  If the default applications being pre-installed were ones that a majority of people use (e.g. Facebook on the S7 From T-Mobile in the US), then I wouldn't have an issue. But if most people are using the default Google apps, then you're hurting them by pre-installing apps they won't use (and can't uninstall without rooting). You're taking away device storage space that they've payed for.

Or just make it so that any app can be uninstalled (and not just disabled) without rooting. Not sure if this is a global problem, or just a US problem...

Asus Strix and Mini, Gigabyte G1 Gaming and Xtreme Gaming, MSi Gaming 100ME, and Zotac AMP! Extreme, AMP! Extreme Core, and AMP! Omega Core.

I haven't had a chance to check on cards that aren't available in the US market, but I think there are a few others from the likes of Galax and Inno3D.

The Thunderbolt port/cable can output anything it can receive over DisplayPort.  The Thunderbolt AIC has a port where you plug in the DP output from the GPU.  This is why there is that short cable that looks like it goes from one PCIe device to another on that back of Linus's rig.

No, as DisplayPort also has Multi-Stream Transport (MST). Using MST, it can support two 4K (3840×2160) displays at 60 Hz, or up to four WQXGA (2560×1600) displays at 60Hz in 24-bit RGB mode.  I don't know about multiple G-Sync monitors on one thunderbolt cable, however.

You're fine. No difference in draw, performance, or efficiency. In fact, efficiency may be ever so slightly higher, as more individual wires are carrying current from the PSU to GPU.

Routing the extra loop is usually ugly. What I have seen done in SLI set ups, is that you run 2 sets of dual, and have the second connection on both go on the second GPU.

Not necessarily, but and while right now those temps are not an issue, being 20C worse than what the cooler should be capable of is not a good sign.

You're running an X99-A, try the automatic OC in AI Suite?

But in all seriousness, run everything else at stock and just try a multiplier of 40 @ 1.2 volts.  if it's unstable, try with incrementally higher voltage until it's stable (or until you hit 1.4 volts).

RazrLeaf reacted to nicklmg in Tech Gifts for Non-techies Giveaway!
So, this year, we decided to put together a fun little giveaway for all of the techies in our audience... the chance to give mom, or grandma, or WHOEVER in your life that isn't a techie a tech-focused gift for the holiday!

    The rules are simple:

    - Comment below telling us what gift (value of US$300 or less before tax and shipping on Amazon) you would want to give to your non-techie counterpart and link to that gift on Amazon
    - In your comment, tell us WHO you have chosen to potentially receive that gift (mom, grandma, neighbor, etc.)
    - Also tell us WHY you're getting it for them (eg. a new smartphone because grandpa still has a flip phone)

Make sure your gift is US$300 or less on Amazon.com. If a selected winner has linked to an item with a value greater than US$300 they will be re-drawn!

Winners will have 24 hours to respond here on the forum. If we do not receive a response in 24 hours, we will not hesitate to re-draw.

The three (3) winners will be selected on December 14. Once winners have been selected, they will be contacted by me here on the forum, and will provide the full shipping info for the recipient of their gift. Once we receive that information, we will order the winner's selected gift from the recipient's local Amazon and schedule for delivery by December 25.

There are no age or geographical restrictions to enter this giveaway.

Good luck to all, and happy holidays!

    EDIT: Winners have been selected!

@VictorC777 who selected a Canary All-In-One Home Security Device for their Mother
@Kibelok who selected a Ninja Ultima or the Instant Pot for their mom
And @KirbyTech who selected a point and shoot camera for their dad

Thanks again for entering, and happy holidays to everyone here

Seems to be a lot of confusion saying that Asetek is not a patent troll because they do release their product (In nowhere near the market demand for the products) and such so for the sake of discussion, since we know patent trolls survive only on the patents and not on actually releasing the products, I declare Asetek to be a Patent Orc.

However, it can be cheaper. There's a $30 MIR, and if you use VISA Checkout, you have another $25 discount, bring the total down to $355 for a GTX 980

    TL;DR: GTX 980 for $355.

Newegg's Shell Shocker for today: Intel 750 Series SSD, 400GB, Add-in Card version, for $299.99, with free shipping. Not much else to say.

Throw in the Amex offer, and it comes out to $275.

EDIT: the 2.5" version is also $299.99. 800GB versions are $499.99, and 1.2TB is $699.99.  So $99.99 base cost, then $200 for every 400 GB.

I might go for the 2 different ssds, as they 850 pro has a longer warranty than the 950, and if you are going to be constantly rewriting on that disk, it might be better insurance on that drive. Also, if it does break, you won't also lose your OS and apps, not really sure on how much faster then 950 pro would be for a scratch disk though.

If you're willing to OC, just pick whatever one you like the look of most. Zotac, EVGA, MSI, Asus, and Gigabyte all have competitive offerings.

As for 144 fps in most titles, you're not going to hit that fps with all settings maxed (sans AA) at 1080p. 60+ yes, but probably <80.

I can second this. Seasonic (almost all lines) and SuperFlower Leadex are fantastic, but the FSP work on the GQ line doesn't look bad at all. It looks loads (pun intended) better than the G1 series (also FSP).

For the longest time, my SSID would be "ASUS" despite using an Apple router, then a Netgear router, and then finally an ASUS router again. The reason being that it was much easier to change the SSID than to setup passwords on all the devices.
