  1. You need to see what is using the CPU, go to the processes. As for the HDD, in a VM windows never reports usage correctly. As it never gets a real good idea of the speed of the drive. What you should check is what speed is the process using on the HDD, and then check what the max is for the drive it self. So a mechnical drive gets 100mbs (most cases about 20% more just easier for math here). So if the process is using 100mbs, then it really is maxed out. If its using like 50mbs, then you know there is more head room and something is not right. I keep saying Process, vs. the whole machine as you already know the whole machine usage, now its time to troubleshoot and see what is using the 100%.
  2. Wow a business is trying to make money that's crazy. However for a while YouTube would put in ads if your channel was monetized. Regardless if you said that the one video should not be. Maybe this has changed I don't know.
  3. I think for the most part apple does do things well. However once you want to do anything outside the apple way, you are sorta SOL. I think having a third party store won't diminish trust, as most people on android still the google play store to get there apps. I rarely if ever here I don't trust android because its open, its that they don't trust Google (which has nothing to do with openness, but how they run as a company) As an example where being open would help, I have an odd apple issue where I use siri to start a timer on my homepod that my wife is the owner. If I ask my phone to check the timer, my phone states there are no running timers. But if I ask the homepod, it tells me how long is left. If it was more open I could code up a solution on my PC to fix this issue. But nope, since I don't have a mac I'm sorta SOL.
  4. So keeping the phone awake during the sync is key. I have this issue when copying large number of pics for backup. I know its annoying to keep pressing the screen. I have heard of people playing a low quality 10 hour youtube video to keep it on. Could possibly work for you.
  5. I look after about 75 phones through work. At first setup I turn on the battery management (ios) and over all the batteries after 30 months is above 80% in all of them. I also give out only the slower bricks (10 watts). The slower bricks help with not over heating the phones. Now I know my experience is on iphones only, and I don't have a huge sample set but I like to think the combination of slower charging and battery management so it only charges to 100% just before most people wake up had a hand in keeping the batteries in decent order. I can't tell you off hand how many have lasted better than 90%, as I have been doing this with iphones for about 8 years and we didn't have great resources to check the battery's in the past. So hopefully this helps you see some people have data involving a few hundred phones.
  6. Not being live, its YouTube dropping in ads where ever they want without the creator permission. I have been reading even on channels saying they don't monetization ads are being dropped in. I run a non-profit channel and we have seen some ads dropped in, but not always. Its weird as we can't seem to see the pattern besides the age demographic (13-18 and 30-40 year olds)
  7. As others have said this sounds like some bad cases of customer support during a busy time. I would keep an eye on this, and see how it progresses over the coming months. I like to think all companies run by people don't want to be dicks, and will make attempts to do better. Also Dbrand is in a tough business, there is so much competition that I doubt management is just like "Hey we can cut support and be just fine...."
  8. To fix the internet, we would need to have more open services again. More importantly we need the ability to move your own data around to new services easily. Think about podcasts, they are still going strong and people can move them to what ever platform they want. You only hear "listen to my podcasts, where ever you get your podcasts" Not listen to facebook, as that's were I'm hosting my stuff. I could talk at length about this, but it comes down to people need to own there stuff again, and the people decide what to do with it. Not a corporation.
  9. Ahh the higher clock vs. core count debate, always a good time. IN many cases the games are moving towards multi core vs. higher clock speeds, since the clocks have sorta topped out. So you will see more games looking to use more cores better, sending little things like enemy AI towards other cores.
  10. This is a good idea, as I have a fractal case, and had to get the fan software to increase the fan curve to have the fans spin up. The board was not giving enought power to actual spin up. Remember there is no spin monitor, just how much power is put out. I also adjusted the fan spin up time and slow down time to like 2 minutes. to stop the quick spin up/slow down noise that is annoying. I mean really the fan spinning fast for 10 seconds is not going to cool anything really, just spin up for a full minute and actually move some air.
  11. AS others have said, he wants cable TV, but not pay the price for it. Now an alternative could be going with a different ISP, and some of them offer tv packages through a streaming app. This would be cheaper than the cable companies, and offer similar servives. So you would need something like a apple TV or a roku or something like that. Then he would keep his recording and still be able to connect to local streaming services for those news sites. Here in Canada there is this option, maybe where you live its similar. https://www.teksavvy.com/services/television/
  12. What else would LTT talk about that Intel didn't cover in there own presentation? As most consumers are looking for a product to purchase, not so much the inners. Yes there will be people who care what type on engine is in the car, while most will be concerned with how well the car drives.
  13. You might be able to find some adapter to do this. It would be in your better intrest to find a pci card that takes the USB C ports. Keeps the speed and no oddities come up. So something like this? https://www.newegg.com/p/17Z-00FJ-00036
  14. Or you know just catch the clips later in the week so you can decide which parts to watch. Its 3 hours, so I don't think anyone is listening to every word the whole time. The bulk of people have it on in the background and tune in when they hear something they like. Oh and the margins on the products we have no idea. When Linus says he is losing money, he might think in grand scheme of the over head with labs etc. Until labs starts making money on its own.
  15. The write protection is a good idea, but yes I support the idea of the usb floppy drive adapter.
