A news article on it I read the other day said that Google blames spam.
 
Which yeah, I could see that being a problem with it's LARGELY UNMODERATED, system riddled with braindead algorithms. They probably saw that it would cost money to hire people to actually read things and decided to axe it. This is why you don't rely on Google, for anything. They axe features, good features, because they're unwilling to listen to to anyone on how to fix things that people rely on, and instead end it. It's Feedly all over again.

Looks like a 3rd grade project with 10secs of battery time. Not super impressed. 

Every time I see one of these headlines, im internally saying to myself "Please don't be another bucket breach...  Please don't be another bucket breach...  GOD DAMMIT ITS ANOTHER BUCKET BREACH, WHY ARE PEOPLE SO DAMN STUPID?"  It takes effort to make an s3 bucket insecure.  How do people keep screwing that up?

that is because google is hypocritical and doesn't enforce the rules platform wide. Apple does, no matter the size of the company trying to influence them.

I thought the same until I used DuckDuckGo and realized how shitty Google is now. The results on Google are all filtered, promoted, ads, and paid. You'll search for something and 4 ads are shown and the top result is paid to be there, unlike DDG where it actually gets the results from a proper index. The same goes for Google images. It's terrible now with the scaling and not allowing you to save the full res image without manually going to the website. I dropped Google 5 years ago and it is amazing how bad it is

That's such a good strategy

As a moderately-involved editor on the English WP and Wikimedia, I heartily concur. Just like no-one would accept a report that cited only Encyclopaedia Britannica or a reference book. WP is a great starting point and useful for introductions to topics, but there is a reason all the sources are linked at the bottom. Check them. Make sure that they are actually accessible(!) and in the proper context.
 
And if they aren't, feel free to correct them. But never assume.

Yep.  Those same encyclopedia companies have websites.

you mean iOS is a privacy hellhole and a buggy mess such that security firms stopped buying certain exploits because they were too numerous

Exactly why I think its a thing against apple and not against the 30% fee.

Can someone clarify if Epic is paying 30% fee on the in-app purchases etc? I thought the fee drops to 10-15% after the first year.
 
I think while Epic’s access may be cutoff from the App Store, people who have the app may keep it and use it on their device. So Apple is somewhat immune from pissing of their iOS users. Epic can’t really afford to not add new users whereas Apple could afford to not have their Epic fee grow.
 
I’m not defending Apple in this paragraph but just trying contrast them against what has been deemed standard. As far as distribution channels go a 30% markup is standard in the US. If you sell stuff on Amazon they charge a 20% commission; even more if you let Amazon handle shipping and marketing too. The App Store also acts as a discoverability platform and it has made game makers billionaires eg Candy Crush. Any antitrust violations would be limited to stifling rivals, Apple isn’t a game developer. Other platforms like Xbox, Play Station, and Nintendo have been getting away with much stricter partnership rules regarding developers; I don’t see Apple losing this fight legally. 
 
However I do think Apple needs to treat smaller developers better.

Which is precisely what Apple is going to fight to prevent. No self respecting company would voluntarily hand over the control of their self built platform to a committee of politicians who don't know the difference between a smart phone and a toaster.
