  1. I havnt watched the GN video, not at all interested in youtube creator he said she said crap. I like the silly server videos and stupid crap they film. As for facts and figures even LTT recommend you use many sources to inform your decisons. If LABs was fully up and running and had missleading or factually incorrect reporting on the new website and was not addressed or ammended I would take issue with that. But this is a work in progress and issues will arise. Youtube can never really be used reliably for review purposes imo. Due to the algorithms feeding me what I want to hear not what I need to hear I will normally only get content served to me that gratifies my current postion. Yes I could search for other opinions etc but for acurate reviews I would sooner go to written articles on dedicated sites. Think anandtech, tomsguide etc. If LABs concentrate on that I think it could be a valuble tool in the consumers hands. I do think the sooner the new CEO steers the ship the better. Linus has done something very special with LTT but its gotten to big to fail now. Some people calling for boycotts and unsub etc. Think of all the NOT Linus staff, its alot of peoples pay checks and bills. I think its right he takes a back seat on some of this and lets someone with more experience in that postion do what needs to be done in the backround. I personally dont like Linus for his amazing ability to organise a spreadsheet and email updated workflows and introduce KPIs SOPs keep ontop of COSHH..........list keeps going. I wanna see him show me a crazy 2000core server with 6 gpus in a 1u rack. Or we made our own ISP and provided all our staff with LinusNet. The whole Billet f##k up is bad and he maybe should of said zero. Have the CEO release a formal press release. "Sorry, this is what happened and a,b,c will be getting done to ensure all parties are happy and it does not happen again. No further statements will be made public unless asked to by concerned parties. Anyways I will still be watching but any Linus youtube reply or related videos will be skipped. If I want to watch a drama I have plenty at my own job that I cant sadly skip. Peace
  2. Hey, running a plex server from home. I do not have a static IP but it was easy to setup a DDNS in plex automatically. I would like to have more access to the system (windows 10) remotelly. I already have the plex remote app but would like full desktop access. I downloaded the windows remote app for android but i would still need to settup port forwarding and set up a ddns host name for the remote app. I have seen sites like dynu but would like to know more about them. So my video suggestion would be a 2 fold how to set up a ddns (not a built in one like synologys or plex) and which of the free or paid sites would ltt reccommend? Many thanks Barney
  3. Hi, very similar to what i just built. I had temp issues too. Sorted with a bequiet dark rock 4 and replaced the stock nzxt fans with silent wings pwm 120mm back 140mm top. What a difference. Idle cpu 29/32c under load sits in the 60s
  4. No, i have auto oc on in ryzen master on my gaming profile. Never really did oc before and wanted to wait for my better cooler before trying. Now im back at work for 8 straight nights so going to have to wait a little longer.
  5. New pics with cable mods and new cooler and case fans
  6. UPDATE 30.08.20 Well changing out the stock cooler for a Dark Rock 4 and adding in a silent wings 3 120mm PWM on back and a 140mm PWM on top still exhausting using the negative pressure set up seems to of worked wonders cineabench R20 was 3594 with temps in the 88-92c range. Now 3602 with temps at 69c System now idles at 30c ish Will upload some more pics as I re cable managed the system and added white cables etc.
  7. I may be wrong but i think the boards with h on the end are non oc boards. Plus i wanted to make sure i could use zen 3 and if the nvidia 3000 is pcie gen 4 wanted a mobo to cover it. So alone the mobo was £155 I was only ever going to buy a psu from either evga, seasonic, corsair or be quiet. The ram is 3600 rather than 3200. I didnt spend all my original budget. £814.23 was what i spent. Next month i have a be quiet dark rock 4 and a couple of dark wings (pwm) fans due to change out the current nzxt ones. Planning the rtx 3060 or what ever the 2060 replacement ends up being. Prob add another 16gb ram And if i can get one whatever the 3700 replacement is with the new zen 3.
  8. Yeah you would think that but Steve over at gamersnexus did a in depth review of the case and found that adding front intakes raised gpu temps whilst having little effect on the cpu. The negative pressure of the outtake only config is making air (mostly from the empty pcie slots) get sucked in. The negative effect is that warm exhaust from the gpu is blown up into the cpu fan. If i was to do anything i would most likely fit an AIO if a larger air cooler did not bring temps a little lower.
  9. So update ran timespy again and got a peak of 88c during 98 percent utilization of the cpu. The average seemed to hover round the 70's
  10. The case was closed during the benchmarks. It was also really hot in the house as it was during a very warm week up here in Scotland and we don't do air conditioning as its barely worth it for the 2 or 3 weeks a year it gets hot haha. I am planning a Noctua NH U12s. Also it is a bit cooler right now and I haven't done a bench since I built so may do one now.
  11. Hi all First off it has been 19 years since I last built a PC. I was in my teens when I built it and my computer was everything to me. Then I hit 18 and it was girls, drink and cars (Remember if you drink, Do not drive). Back then It was AMD Athlon Thunderbird and a 3dfx Voodoo AGP card. After that it was all crappy laptops until I hit the "cough cough" Apple scene. In fairness at the time I worked in the Live Music Industry and was a lighting engineer. I mean everyone was using the MacBook pro. Anyways I have left that all behind and have wanted to build a gaming rig. I am not a huge gamer, well really I am barely a gamer. I like the Rockstar games and I liked Rollercoaster Tycoon and Sim City etc. I wanted something that would play Planet Coaster and City Skylines but would also play some more open world type games. So anyway enough rambling on. What I went for and why. Budget was important. I built this with money I had saved during the UK furlough scheme whilst I was off work. I had saved £1000 (1300usd, 1743 Canadian Rupees). I didn't want to spend all of it just yet so I tried to stay at the £800 mark. Processor - Ryzen 5 3600. I went with this as a good all rounder and due to the mobo I had selected I am planning on going Ryzen 4th gen not long after launch so didn't want to overspend. Motherboard - MSI B550m Mortar. I really wanted the Tomahawk but due to availability at time of build I went with this. It was only a £20 saving on the Tom but I was still happy. RAM - 16gb (2x8) Crucial Ballistix 3600 White. Great price at time and I wanted 3600 so I could set Infinity fabric to 1800 as I am sure there is a LTT video I have watched somewhere along the line that said the sweet spot was either 3200/1600 or 3600/1800. I do plan on adding another kit of the same for 32gb total. GPU - Zotac GTX 1660 super amp. My budget at time may of stretched to a 2060 but I was waiting to see what happens with the whole 3000 Nvidia cards so decided this was good for now. Plus at the time I had 5 monthly payments available on it via amazon. Storage(boot) - WD blue 240gb M.2 NVME. This was great price and was only going to be used for boot and any apps I want to be super fast so at £48 I was happy it would be just fine. Storage(games) - Crucial BX500 SSD. Had this from a old dell I had so currently using for games... nowhere near enough capacity so I am planning a EVO plus 2TB NVME Storage(other) - Old 2.5" HDD from a MacBook, it has 750gb so It does for movies, tv and music at the moment but probably end up with a barracuda at some point soon. PSU - BeQuiet System Power 9 600w. This is not what I wanted but PSU shopping at the time was dreadful. I wanted a seasonic 80Plus gold fully mod but prices where way way above normal. Got this for £60 and with the space in the bottom of the case it is alright but will be upgrading this when prices and stock become more reasonable. Case - NZXT 510W. I am running the negative air pressure stock set up. It's not like I am running a OC'd 3950 or a 2080ti so even with stock wraith cooler I am sitting at 44c idle and no thermal throttling during gaming. Hitting about 95c max. GPU is 39c idle and 89c under load. Over all I am very happy with the build. What made me laugh was I remember when I last built it took bout 30min to build and 2 hours to load windows. This took me about 1hour 30min to build as I didn't want to rush and break anything and I wanted it to look neat and tidy. Oh and windows took like 5! yes 5 min to get from usb stick to desktop... WOW. It may of even been a bit quicker than that as I had went to make coffee only to come back to it sitting ready to go. No rainbow puke. This is sitting in my living room right below the TV. Yep no fancy gaming monitor just a 42inch LG 4k 60hz tv. It does have Instant game response?? and HDMI ultra deep color? So no rgb like I say as I didn't want it shining thru whilst I try to watch Netflix etc. Plus didn't want to pay more for it. I did a benchmark on user bench mark and got PC performing way above expectation 91st percentile. I don't know if you can post links to it so leaving out for now. Graphics got 72.4%. My 3D Mark timespy score was 6228 (graphics score 6096) (CPU score 7101) I did have a small OC on the GPU via Afterburner and Ryzen Master set to Gaming profile. So I really enjoyed building it and looking forward to a few updates before Christmas. Only took one pic of it as it doesn't light up and it is just plain and simple. Wish I had got the Tomahawk as it was full size atx and would of made cable management even tidier at the bottom but I will live with it. Thanks if you read this.
  12. Hi all, new here. Been watching LTT for years now but only got round to joining forum since finally building a new system. Last I built was a Athlon Thunderbird back in 2001. Anyways I have a R3600 on a MSI B550m Mortar with a NVMEM.2 in the M.2 slot 1 and then my 1660S in the PCIE x16 slot. It has another x16 slot and states that if the M.2 slot 2 is empty that the x16 will run in PCIE x4 mode via the chipset. Does this mean using the ASUS Hyper M.2 in that slot would only give me use of one slot on the card? I am not too bothered if that is the case as I didn't want to use the M.2 slot 2 as the GPU covers it and I was concerned about cooling. I only really wanted a 1 card expansion but wanted to buy from a recognised brand rather than a generic brand on amazon. Thanks in advance for any answers. Barney
