  1. Off topic specifically says to not post about TECH, is this a forum full of morons? <---- There, it has a question.
  2. Really mods? Really? Since when do off topic conversations have worthwhile purpose? What a bunch of wanker nonsense, I quit this forum too, such heavy handed mod bullshit.
  3. You brought up a very important word here, fear, sure don't fear someone coming in and taking your stuff when you leave the door open, fear is a state of mind, but don't be surprised if someone tries to come in and steal your stuff either. EDIT: And to be clear, it doesn't justify the action on the other person's part, but you should take precautions to make it more difficult to get stolen from.
  4. And at that point, you just have to stop debating the point because to quote Ron White, "You can't fix stupid."
  5. Also I never said I would just call the idea stupid and move on, I'd explain clearly and plainly why it's stupid and leave it to them to see it for what it is, after a while if they don't see that it's stupid you have to concede that not just the idea is stupid, but the person you're dealing with as well.
  6. No, I just think they're misguided and if I show the idea to be stupid, maybe, they'll not just dig in on the side of stupid.
  7. No it isn't, one is an ad hominem attack and the other is an attack on the idea, if you can't see the distinction I might be done talking with you at all.
  8. I'm talking about bad ideas, they should be mocked, no other way to stop it's spread to be honest, because the overwhelming majority of people tend to jump on a bandwagon of a bad idea if they think it will make them look cool. My purpose is to make that idea bandwagon look so bad that nobody would want to get on it. Bad ideas evolve into bad acts because nobody thought to stand up and point out how stupid the idea is when it was first purposed.
  9. Now you've said something I didn't. Mocking someone... no, I don't mock you personally, but if your idea sucks I will mock the idea, or if you say something stupid, I will mock that, but not resort to calling you stupid. I mean if the idea is stupid, that's enough for me, I don't need to make it personal. And let's be clear, I have no idea you opinion on anything, we may end up agreeing on things. I'm just saying as a rule, if I see something stupid, I will point out it's stupidity and mock it.
  10. Mockery is the best way to cull bad ideas from good ones. If it can be mocked, it wasn't a good idea. That's how good ideas evolve into great ones, they're scrutinized. It's why scientific theories have papers detailing them and then are published for peer review. So the idea can be picked apart for worthiness. In the academic world it's done in a fairly constrained and usually civil matter, but on a forum, it will have monkey poo slung at it if it's a shit idea.
  11. Can I just say, firstly, I have no idea what you think about anything, I really don't as I haven't gone to look up any posts you've ever made, this is the first I've viewed. Second, any opinion that can't defend itself from mockery, deserves to be mocked, just because you think it, doesn't make it valid or give the idea any validity at all. Third, it's incumbent upon you to either defend your position, or if you can't, don't state it in the first place, don't blame others for attacking your position on something when it was you who stated the position publicly in the first place. Can't take the heat? Don't state your position.
  12. Ok just letting off a bit of steam here... If you're going to insist on calling a day Partly Sunny instead of Partly Cloudy, you have to go the whole 9 yards and call that same condition at night Partly Moony. Right, now you see how stupid that is, the condition has nothing to do with the sun nor moon but the clouds so it's Partly Cloudy.... optimists be damned as it has nothing to do with optimism or pessimism but rather REALITY.
  13. I'm just holding on for a framerate comparison like Linus did between 7 and 8, just to see if there's a marked difference between 8.1 and 10. If there's no improvement in performance I see no reason to upgrade, unless the rumors are true about 10 being free to Win 8.1 owners, that might compel me to upgrade as long as the performance is equal. But to pay, I'd want to see an FPS increase or it's just not worth it.

Ah, wasn't aware of that. Good info.

    Logitech g430

Yes but I don't think it's the soundcard that does it per se, but rather the software. I mean it says right on the packaging in order to have surround sound you need to install the software. Maybe the two are linked, but if they are then it's not clearly stated that you have to use their USB dongle to get 7.1, just the software, so if your sound card is 7.1 capable it's the software that makes it happen.

I notice when I first plug them in there is a little pop to indicate power is going to them. But you have to remember the USB dongle is a mini sound card so it does have to power that. Otherwise if you have a decent sound chip on your board or even a sound card, you won't be using it unless you plug it directly without the USB dongle.
  17. I've been waiting for futuremark to rank these to see what score it hits vs others. They're taking their sweet time with it. They have a vague review but not a direct comparison up yet, at least not that I find and I check every few days because I wanna see what value score they give it, I'd bet it's over 45, which is HUGE for value score. EDIT: http://www.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu?_ga=1.65487150.1220411205.1405838122 See what I mean? ^^^ not ranked yet. I mean I have a GTX 660 but refuse to upgrade until I see two things, double my current score and a price point around 300 bucks. Which means I might get the top tier 28nm card when the 20nm cards/16nm cards are coming out.
  18. Not matter which way you cut it, GTX 970/980 has changed the game with their price point and quality. Personally I'm still holding back because it's still produced with the 28nm process this time next year I'd expect the 20nm process GPU's to be available, but the price point I don't expect to be nearly as competitive as the 970/980. I mean Nvidia threw down the gauntlet with these, and even undercut their own 770/780 in the process, the past couple weeks the prices on those has crashed as a result. I avoided the 290 comparison for a couple reasons, I'm an Nvidia guy, so I'd be prejudicial in any case. But I find the pricing dynamic between AMD and Nvidia to be interesting in any case, this latest GTX is a beast that runs cooler and uses less power.

    Logitech g430

I just bought these, got them in the mail yesterday, so far so good, there was a firmware update and the gaming software to install but the sound is good. I had Logitech 330's before but they weren't closed ear at all, too much ambient noise from around the room was leaking in, not a good thing at all. Software controlled EQ had no presets, so far that's my only complaint. I use these for more than just gaming though, music is important and the 7.1 really comes through on these, good bass. Good value, but yes, you can't compare these 65 dollar headphones to 300 dollar ones, that would be asking too much. Build quality on these is really good though, nothing flimsy in the wire connection points, like I've found on a lot of other ones where if you try to bend the cable at the point it enters the earpiece it will easily bend and if you tug the cable comes out, not so with these. Accidental tugs and pulling happens to every headset, these will hold up to those stresses pretty well. Maybe in a week my opinion will change, after all I've only worn these about an hour at a time, after 10 hours of gaming I might have a different opinion on the comfort level, but so far so good. EDIT: Newegg has these Refurbished for 39.99. Just thought I'd share.
  20. Got a response.... "Hi >>> Name withheld <<< Thanks for writing in. We appreciate your feedback, and I'm happy to explain more about our policy regarding proxy servers. Because the agreements with our content providers are so strict, we need to be able to verify that anyone who watches videos through our service is a valid user connecting from a territory within the United States. Proxy servers make this verification difficult, especially since international users could use U.S. VPNs to access Hulu Plus from outside the U.S. In order to prevent that from happening, we unfortunately have to block anyone using a VPN even though we know there are legitimate users in the U.S. who use them. We simply would not get the content rights we've been able to get without agreeing to this provision. That said, I understand where you're coming from, and I'll definitely pass your feedback along to our content team. We're always working to improve our product, and perhaps we'll be able to loosen these restrictions in the future. I hope this is helpful, though I apologize for any disappointment or frustration. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks, >>>Name withheld<<< Hulu Support" Pretty much the excuse I was expecting. So now what? Netflix is next? Amazon Video? Who else? Such total horseshit, especially coming from Hulu which shows ads in their shows. The bigger picture though is how this bodes for VPN services.
  21. That's the thing, I'm in the permitted region, yet they're locking me out because I'm using a VPN service. Is that what's in store for other VPN customers and a slew of sites in the future? Scary that they'd force you to identify yourself and risk your security just so they can invade your privacy.
  22. The big question is, can you watch videos on Hulu from Hola? If so, why are they picking specifically on PIA? I don't think they should be doing it to anyone, but it would be much worse if they allow one VPN service access and others not.
  23. Was just reading up on Hola, it's a free VPN, but there is also a question of them injecting ads into your browser. I'd rather pay for PIA, or IPA, even the beer.
  24. I've tried several of their servers from around the country, also a no go... wrote them the following email.... "I'm attempting to access your site from a location in the US, I use a VPN to access the internet in order to keep my security. But I can't view videos with a VPN active because you folks apparently need to know for sure I'm in the US, which I am. I was gonna sign up to Huluplus for that new Miniseries you folks have coming up, but if this is what I'm to expect, there is no way I'm taking my VPN down just to access your site, which even if you pay for it, you still get commercials. Your policies are exceedingly restrictive, charge 2 bucks more and open things up more and I might reconsider. Otherwise, why would you make people compromise the security of their computer in order to access your site?" Awaiting the prepackaged unsatisfactory response.
