  1. So I'm at the point now of deciding what MK to get for my new tower and there are so many choices my head is spinning. I've been using laptops, all MacBooks, for the last 7 years since my previous PC tower bit the dust and I just didn't have the room for a new one. I have been using a Keychron K2 for my MacBook with Gateron browns and have loved the feel of a brown switch. Here are some of my parameters to help narrow down my search: My budget can go up to $160 USD, though if pushed I could go to $200. I can even go to a sub-100 dollar board if that is what I need, but usually higher price can equal higher quality and that is what I am looking for. I want this thing to last. I will be using the board for coding (work), writing (hobby), and gaming (hobby). I would like to stay with a Brown Switch. TKL is my preferred size, but I can go to a full-size if required. White backlighting at a minimum is a must, RGB is just an extra to me. I'll be keeping it plugged in so a wireless board is not a requirement. I also don't want something that looks like a 6th grader designed it to look cool and futuristic FOR GAMERZ! with crazy angles and badges all over the place. Though a subtle branding will be fine. So as you can see my field is rather wide open. I will see a review for a board and think it is great for me and then go onto reddit and see people having numerous problems with it and it makes me go back to square one. I do know that when it comes to people posting about an item online it usually is the people who are having problems so those get amplified over the many times more people who aren't having a bad experience with it. There are just so many choices and I feel so lost. Not to mention with the pandemic and being in a high-risk group it makes going to a local shop and trying different boards difficult. I know the shops usually only carry boards from the big dogs like Razer, Corsair, and Logitech so those are the ones on display.
  2. So I will probably be building a new tower after being away from PC world for almost 10 years. I've been using MacBooks since then as laptops have been more convenient for me. I finally have space and time to enjoy a PC tower and gaming once again. I'll be using a Ryzen 5 3600 for the CPU, 16gb ddr4 3600, RTX 2060, and an NVME drive. I'm looking for a good mobo that has wifi built in as I am in an apartment so drilling holes to run Cat5 cable isn't an option. Part of me wants to future-proof and get B550, but with B450 getting updates form the manufacturers to handle Ryzen 3 I don't see much of a use in 550. I don't plan on overclocking so VRMs that can handle that aspect isn't a part of the equation. My budget for a mobo can go up to 220 USD. Also, WiFi 6 isn't a requirement for me either. Finally I have a background in building with Asus mobos as when I worked at a local computer shop that is the only board maker we used, granted that was almost 15 years ago so UEFI was not a big thing yet. I don't recall ever really working with UEFI either. I know my shop did switch over to MSI boards as they saw too much of a quality drop with Asus. Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
