  1. Hey Team, I have a tool that I would love to see you guys check out. It is called the Creaform Metrascan. It is used for Metrology and uses Lasers to scan surfaces for various inspection tasks. It is the only software I have come across that has a bar for remaining Ram usage and vram usage. After scanning a part for about an hour the 64 gb of ram on my laptop is used up. Then I import it into Polyworks to interpret the data for an inspection report. A plus for you guys. Metrascan and Polyworks are both Canadian companies.
  2. The laptop I have is built for people who work in a high tech industry. Xenon processor Quadro video card, smart card reader. I use it for Cad/cam stuff like Mastercam and Creo. Working with files on a server is a daily thing. I can buy a 2.5 gbps pci express Ethernet card for $25 but they can't put that same speed Ethernet port into a $360 dock. Meanwhile apple throws 10gbps ports into their Mac Studios and yet none of their devices have enterprise grade security things like a smart card reader without an external dongle.
  3. I have been looking around for docking stations, at work they gave us the Dell WD19DCS docking station. I find it hard to believe that they spent $360 on a dock and it still only handles 1g- Base T port. I find it weird that I can get a laptop designed for industry that has built in smart card readers but not faster Ethernet. When is faster Ethernet going to become a standard?
  4. I just picked up this ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQL1A monitor and I turned on HDR. What do you guys use to calibrate a monitor? I tried the windows 10 internal calibration but for some reason with this monitor i cannot adjust brightness and contrast on the monitor itself. So when i go and play Hitman 2 with HDR turned on everything is blown out. Just way too bright. Then i try to adjust the HDR gamma in the game and it is so bright i cannot even start to see the inside box they are talking about. Should i just give up using HDR on certain games?
