Inimigor got a reaction from Serj.B in Harpertown Xeon BSEL Overclock (E5450)
Hello everyone, I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with BSEL mod that could help me with this.

I want to know what BSEL 0, 1 and 2 would do for the FSB, PCI-e and RAM timings on the harpertown chips. The motherboard has the G41 chipset, with DDR3 RAM (I have 1333mhz RAM there now.)

I Basically have never done any Overclocking through BSEL, and I tried putting the tape on points 1 and 2, like people have done in clovertown chips, but didn't post.

Then put only on 1, seems to have booted, but with no difference whatsoever, and only in 2 also didn't post.

Here's the scheme I followed, I found the Original post from XeonTux, but it hasn't been updated in a looooong time.

Anyone has experience with Harpertown Xeons BSEL OC?

I haven't touched the vmod points, too afraid to fry the chip.

And here's the system itself during a few testings after replacing the GPU.

    Specs:

    CPU: Intel Xeon E5450 @3GHz - LGA771-775 mod

MoBo: Optiplex 380, with a BIOS update for supporting the Xeon properly (Thanks to @harrynowl)

RAM: 6GB (4-2) both kingston 1333mhz, (I have a matching kit on the way, but I am running this 6GB kit with no issues so far)

GPU: Zotac GTX 960 4GB - More on that told in the spoiler below.

PSU: Optiplex 330 stock 280W, frankensteined to deliver ~350W. I'll replace it with a Silverstone SFX 450W, just waiting for it to arrive - More on that frankenstein PSU in the Spoiler.

HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda (Hory sheet this bad boy is fast for a mechanical drive)

Case & Fans: The case is from an Optiplex 330, the original PC from this project, I got from a scrap pile on a company I did services for back then. And a Noctua NF-B9 replacing the front fan.

I have been running the Xeon E5450 on a Dell Optiplex 380 motherboard for a few months now, that is my HTPC/portable LAN rig, and it has been rock solid this entire time.

The only BSODs I have ever gotten were due to the motherboard not working with ANY of the PCI wifi cards I had (TP-link, Encore, D-link, Lynksis and even one from Netgear) Wireless B, N and G cards tested. Tested a USB wireless adapter from TP-link and it worked flawlessly.

If you're intersted in the story behind deciding to put a 960 on the Optiplex here it is:

Inimigor got a reaction from oferk99 in Any monitor with Both Gsync and Freesync?
Yeah, I do understand why is not a thing, but I still have hope to find one that does both.

I think it would be possible to have two scalers in a single monitor, with different ports for each, one with a Gsync Module, and one with a Freesync module, all you'd have to do is change the cable and input. sounds doable to me.

Inimigor reacted to Glenwing in Is there some kind of "Color Calibrated Profiles for various monitors database" or something like that?
Colors vary from monitor to monitor even if they are the same model, so one person's calibration profile isn't going to fit perfectly on someone else's monitor. Though I suppose it will probably be better than factory settings. You can google for your monitors model number and "ICC profile" and see if anything comes up, I don't know of any centralized database though.

If you don't have any calibration hardware or any idea how to do it though, you probably don't need it; the point of calibration is so that you can match your monitor to a printer that is also calibrated so that what you see on the screen looks the same as it will when printed. It's not about making the monitors "look better" or something like that; my monitors have calibrated profiles but I don't use them because they look dull to me. If you aren't a graphic artist and don't have a need for multiple devices to be calibrated to each other; then just adjust the settings to whatever looks best to you.

I am also seeing that the Dell Inspiron 1545 screens are compatible with the same part number.
Assuming you get one with the same pinout, they should be plug-and-play, even if the IPS display is a higher resolution like 1080p.

Marty McFly Modding is known for his contribution to aesthetics mods for the GTA Series of games, such as ENBseries mods, it has made GTA IV and San Andreas look completely different, not to mention other games that other modders have made similar visual upgrades (with proper credit) using his code as a base.

He has developed code for various effects to be added in games, and nvidia apparently borrowed a bunch of code, without asking, nor giving credit, as he says himself.

The thing is especifically about the MasterEffect

There are a lot of variables and code matching his previous work, wich is under Intelectual Property Licenses. Even the comments on the code are the same, he recodnized his own code.

You can also check the similarities for yourself.

    Under the folder
"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Ansel\ShaderMod\" and try to find variable names in ReShade.fx of MasterEffect.

Nvidia hasn't responded to this yet.

    Update:

Marty McFly Modding updated the post and said it all was sorted. The code will be changed and he will be credited.

Not sure why it has been sweeped under the rug, still not that nice of a move from Nvidia.

I knew it was mostly below 60 and above 30 FPS, and due to the stutter between these changes I disabled Vsync to help a bit, but there are few moments it would go down A LOT and then it would get slow, still managed to get 5 skulls on nightmare on OMD!

I definitely apreciate 60FPS, but 30FPS is still fine for games that don't require instant response all the time.
