RTX 3050 is more comparable to the older GTX 1070. The RTX 2060 is the better performing card.

The 2060 is a superior card.

U12S is the better cooler, but not really better enough to warrant almost double the cost in your case. The Duo is still a good cooler. I'm not sure about the ease or not of installation with it, as I've never owned one. Noctua's SecuFirm installation is second to none, though. Either should be capable of cooling something like the 5600 when or if you eventually upgrade.

Depend on games, some games works better on Nvidia and some on AMD. If you going to play games that use OpenGL like Java Minecraft, Nvidia GPU will always be better.
Not really, Nvidia support Freesync as well since 1000 series but if your monitor is not in Nvidia Gsync-Compatible list then the experience is probably better on AMD GPU.
    Your PSU is fine.

    1060 6GB

Unless you can find an 8GB 480/580 somehow, cuz a bit of extra VRAM is always nice.

1060 is little better. would go with used rx 580 instead.

I'd go with the GTX 1060 since its right there with the GTX 1660. As for your second question, nope that doesn't matter, you can also use AMD Freesync with Nvidia cards. And for your third question, yes your PSU will easily handle the 1060 (or RX570).

well I had a 580... performance was utterly worse than my then 1060 in *any* game I've tried.... I then was told by the usual suspects that "these games are optimized for nvidia" lol... but that didn't matter to me, what mattered was the absolutely awful performance and heat that thing produced... of course I returned it asap.

Whats funny, it actually ran better in benchmarks... better than my 1060 even, but since I neither play benchmarks nor mine that was of totally no use for me (just a bit curious / sus) 🤷🏼

Resizable BAR is also unlikely to break anything to the point of a boot failure. At worst, you might see some programs behaving weirdly, but so far, the most common drawback just seems to be some games performing worse.

Remember, this is something that's existed since 2008, and has been utilized to some degree by non-consumer hardware.

RajTheGeek reacted to jones177 in are VA panels better for eye strain than IPS?
Except for 4k models VAs are worse.
I have a VA, LG 32" 4k, LG 32" 1440p, Samsung 3440 X 1440.  All are great for gaming but only the 4k model has sharp text.

Eye strain from small monitors is due to lack of movement. Larger monitors allows your eyes to move more.

I am a retired 3D artist and what saved me from eye strain was using 2 monitors. Glancing from one to another is closer to what your eyes naturally do. I will only use two standard monitors or one ultrawide.

When I was working I did 8 hours of 3D minium and then 2 to 4 hours of gaming at night and once I got away from small monitors the eye strain was gone.

Now I use a 55" OLED TV about 34" away from me. It equals zero eye strain and is good for neck strain as well since not only do your eyes move but your head as well.
I use it for more than 8 hours a day.

I agree. Basically, just turn down brightness. I use between 0-20 % at normal use. I have a Samsung Va panel, which is super bright.

For me eye-strain has nothing to do with what display tech is used or using blue-light filters. It's all about setting the brightness to the right amount. Normally i calibrate my displays to 150 nits for comfortable use without any eye-strain. I've had TN, VA, IPS and OLED and never noticed any type to strain my eyes more than the other when all are running at the same brightness.

@RajTheGeek Aslong as the PC starts fine now u should be ok.

If ur still concerned then the only things i can suggest u run is a scan disk aslong as the drive isnt an SSD and also run the system file checker.

CPU today are designed to work well at 100c, so 80c is nothing.
If laptop can handle it, desktop will be better.
For me personally having to look at it under 75c is an accomplishment.

    No it wont.

there ae many things that affect temps, not the cpu, depends on the case configuration, ambient temps, cooler, airflow etc etc.

If you're concerned then I would look into replacing the stock cooler. 75 degrees or even 80s will not degrade the CPU like you are worried about. They have safe guards in place (thermal throttling) to avoid letting the chip get to levels where it will be dangerous for the chip. Think of all the Intel laptops that run at 100 degrees. They are designed that way because they know it can handle it.

80s sill wont hurt anything, but if temps get high to the point of throttling, i guess a better cooler could help with it.

Then if that's your concern,  might need to look into replacing that wraith stock cooler.  But as for your current temps, given your current outside temp, I would say it's performing as expected.

if it wasn't a good application and/or the cooler wasn't seated correctly, then temps wouldn't be  that good.

Idle and load temps are good, and either way idle temps do not matter, load temps do and they're good.
