  1. Rig Name: Big Papa CPU: i5 4670K GPU: GTX 970 RAM: 8GB 1600Mhz Score: 7
  2. Thanks everyone, definitely going to upgrade platforms. My brother just let me know he had a spare z87 motherboard. So haswell/haswell refresh it is! The i7 920 would have only fetched $50, so I'll just keep my eyes peeled for a cheap mobo on the market and eventually use it for a secondary build. This way I can still utilize the DDR3 I have as well for the z87 build.
  3. Alright, so my x58 motherboard just pooped the bed and is completely dead. I still have my i7 920 and 6gb DDR3 in full working order, but used x58 boards are like $160-300 USD for a decent one. Should I buy a used x58 board or take this as a sign that it's time to upgrade? If I upgraded I would be looking at either the 4690K or 4790K. In terms of my workflow I need a decent amount of CPU power for the DAW programs I work with as well as games and other content creation. TL;DR; x58 mobo dead, buy another used one or get with the times and upgrade? What would you do? (If I do upgrade, I would of course keep my 920 for a rainy day when I find a decently priced x58 board)

  6. Nice! I've always wanted to work on my car like that, I love what you've done with it...
  7. I'd work for the NSA if they dropped Snowden's charges, plus all the normal stuff, salary, benefits, and what not.
  8. I'm a GN3, you can add me on steam. Steam name: AbsoluteZero (also went by bassman888)
  9. Remember that your water-cooling temps are never going to get lower (or very close) to the ambient temp in the room. 60C at load is still good, and it really doesn't get much lower than 30C at idle unless you're in a very cold environment.
  10. Anyone know the best way to clean out an old acrylic reservoir? It seems like the smudges just never want to come out. Would lemon juice or another common cleaning acid help with something like that? Below is the pic of the Danger Den res I'm talking about:
  11. My father was an Information Services manager at a pretty big database, he showed myself and my brother the way of the techie at a very young age. PC gamer fo life yo!
  12. Nothing. You're golden, really, at the point you're at. Slick is still running a 2600k if I recall, and even that can still handle most games maxed.
  13. You can give them some examples of headphone manufaturers that are much better like AKG, Sennheiser, Beyer Dynamics, and so on. Most importantly, direct them toward sites like Amazon, like the highest rated headphones page, for instance! http://www.amazon.com/gp/top-rated/electronics/172541
  14. My name is David. Girls would think it's cute to call me Davie/Davey. So there it is, daveyjones.
