  1. Hello, I'll try to make it a short story but it might not be. I recently just finally upgraded to a new ryzen platform after being on an am3 based system for years. I was so excited to get everything. I even ordered a new case to go with it. Pc specs are Cpu: ryzen 7 5800x. Mobo: msi mpg x570s carbon max. Psu: Corsair rm850x. Ram: 32gb of trident z neo. Lian li fans and noctua nh-12U cpu cooler. And 2 nvme drives. I installed everything into my fractal meshify c, newegg said the case was back ordered and so I put the new system into my old case so when Monday came around, windows was installed drivers downloaded. Everything, so I could just swap cases. Today (monday) came around and my case arrived. I carefully moved everything into the new case. Lian li lancool 2 mesh. I decided to repaste the cpu well i was at it just to make sure I got it right the first time. I moved everything over and did a bunch of cable management and made sure everything was plugged in. I booted it up and it lit up. All the fans spinning, lights on, gpu led lights on. Everything seemed to go as planned. I got a post code "code 99" I looked in the manual and it said "super io initialization" I said "oh well, maybe the motherboard just has to kind of think about whats going on, I didn't remove anything but the memory. So maybe the motherboard has to configure everything. (It took the motherboard about 5 minutes the first boot to do this) After about 10 minutes nothing happened, I looked it up and followed all the steps. Here's what i did. Unplugged every single power cord going to the mobo and gpu and from psu, and reinstalled them all. Unplugged and replaced the GPU. Reseated both memory modules, and even cleaned and reseated the cpu with fresh thermal paste, cleared cmos with the button on the back and then used the jumpers as well. Make sure all USB devices were disconnected and only power was connected. Started pc with 1 memory module, started pc with only the power cord nothing else plugged it. Unplugged all USB fan controllers and extra plugs. Then, I thought maybe the bios needed to update for some reason, the pc was working fine before I switched cases but you never know with these things. So I did that, pc started up, bios reset. Shut off and then came back on. Code 99. I have a ezled debugg light and it's red on CPU. But that doesn't make any sense? How could 1 case swap cause either my board or my cpu to just. Fail? I was careful. Everything built on a wooden table. No static. Nothing. I didn't touch the pcb of the motherboard when installed. I used the vrm heatsinks and backplate off the cpu. Making sure I didn't force anything. Anyone have any insight? I have 24 days to RMA either the mobo or the cpu. I don't want to do any of this. I've heard the horror stories of newegg. It's my fault yes from buying from them. But they were the only place in canada to carry the parts I needed. I searched everywhere. EDIT: Everything was working completely fine before case swap. PSU is almost brand new. 4-5 months of use and was bought new. Orginal cables used. CPU pins are all straight. CPU socket all straight and cleaned. No dust or anything. CPU reinstalled three times. still code 99 and no display out.
  2. So today I bought a corsair rm850x 2021 power supply, with a kit of uphere sleeved cable extensions. After getting everything hooked up. I'm noticing that my cinebench scores are 20-30 points lower then before. (On r15) and my geek bench score was like 100 less. I'm thinking this is just possibly because benchmark scores can vary, depending on what windows is doing, but I wanted to double check.
  3. So, i think its about time to replace my like 15 year old PSU, i got some extra cash this month and want to get a decent PSU to last me another while. I know 850watts might seem overkill, but i might be thinking of upgrading to a newer ryzen platform later on and want to make sure i got lots of headroom. Best buy has Corsair rm850x's in stock, 179$ CAD. The 2021 versions, and i did some research and they seem pretty damn good and realiable. But i've also been looking at seasonic and they are a bit more expensive. Should i stick with the corsair brand? Or shall i go with seasonic or another brand? I live in canada, so i kinda miss out on a lot of certain power supplies and such.
  4. Hello I'm thinking of picking up this complete set up for a home theater setup (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01FWRZR94?tag=camelcasearches-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&language=en_CA) I can save a bit of money buying the package then buying them separately. Each speaker seems to be rated for 100-145watts max. And I've been looking around for some receivers, I know some people recommend going with a system were I get a pre-amp, amp, etc. But I'd rather just 1 box that can do it all. I found this one on amazon and took a look at some reviews, I love all the features and would be happy paying the price for it, (Granted I would get it probably on sale) (https://www.amazon.ca/Sony-STRDH790-Multi-Channel-Bluetooth-Component/dp/B079YW5VQL/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=STR-DH790&qid=1619405813&sr=8-2) A lot of reviews said it would run at 90 watts continuous, with 145watts peak. That sounds great, I'm sure the speakers would sound great at 90 watts continuous, probably loud?? (I'm new to this and not sure if that is really loud or just normal listening volume) MY MAIN QUESTION: The reviews also said that the receiver will do 90 watts, 2 channel driven. Well, that means my other speakers, center, rear, and top. Would not be getting enough power, right? The subwoofer is powered, so I Wouldn't have to worry about that, but wouldn't only 2 channels driven at 90 watts cause my other speakers to be very low in volume? I plan to also enable Dolby Atmos if that helps any! Thank you so much for any of all information!
  5. Hello :*) I'm looking to upgrade to a x570 board with a ryzen 5 5600x. I wanna be able to use the pcie gen 4 slot for my main windows boot drive. I like to keep 1 specific drive as my boot drive no matter how fast it is. I found a 500gb pcie gen 4 nvme ssd i would like to use, price is not too bad. But if i'm going all out i'd like to also get rid of my hard drive. I've never used over 1.5tb of storage in games, but i've used around 1tb. The issue, is the prices for 2tb nvme ssd (second slot) is unbelieveable. I would like to stay away from sata ssd because less wires and stuff, but that doesn't seem like its gonna work. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i should look for? Should i just say whatever and get a 2tb sata ssd on sale? or should i get a 1tb nvme drive (more played games), and then another 1tb sata ssd. (less played games) Thanks
  6. Hello! I need some help, i'm looking to buy these fans. I'm on a bit of a budget but i do want some RGB fans. Everything looks good and i would be intrested in purchasing these fans. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07X6Q138G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2SKLYQ83LYZE7&psc=1 The only catch is that the supplied rgb/fan controller uses pwm from the CPU fan header. My fans will ramp up if my CPU gets hot, but what about my graphics card? My GPU could be at 70C but my cpu only at 50c and my fans wouldn't ramp up to keep the GPU temps down. Right? How would i go around that? Also how would my CPU cooler fan know how hot my CPU is if i have to plug the controller into my CPU fan header? The cpu fan would just need to be plugged into a normal fan header. Could i just use a fan spliter and just connect it to one CPU fan header and then all my case fans and CPU fan would be working together? I know it seems confusing, i'm trying to explain the best i can, i will anwser any questions to help make it less confusing. As always, Thanks for all the help
  7. I've heard that a lot of thermaltakes power supply units have failed. But it's only certain series. Sorry that happened.
  8. Why would you say that? I'm not saying your wrong. I just wanna people opinion it. :)
  9. Hello! I'm looking to pick up a new 750 watt power supply, i wanted 750 watt to future proof myself for upgrading. Though i don't know what one to pick. Both are about the same prices in canada, both 750 watts. Thermaltake seems to have better ripple protection and voltage fluctuations, and maybe a little bit nicer of cables. But corsair seems to be very quiet and maybe has some cleaner power? What one should i go for? I feel like Thermaltake gives me more features for my money and more steady power then corsair. Thanks :)
  10. Hello! So recently I bought a new power bank and some other devices for school. And I'm wondering if my samsung charger would ruin my battery on my headphones. My headphones are the Sennheiser BT450, it says they can take 5v at 500mA max. From what I saw online and was reading. So far my thoughts are no my charger wont damage it. But I might be wrong and want to make sure. The charger is a 25watt fast charger from samsung. With the usb type c connector on it. If the charger wont damage the headphones. Could you explain why? And how it knows how much to charge without destroying the battery? Just so I can educate myself. Thanks!!
  11. So is that really the only differences? I did so much research about this subject and nothing described it so simply. It was always "optical has different bitrates and you need a special decoder" and all that. And most people say that optical is used for consoles. But consoles also have aux. So why is optical apparently always used for console if they have aux to? Sorry for all the questions. I honestly am so thankful for you're help. I've been trying to figure this out for like 2 days now and found nothing!
  12. Alright so what would be better in terms of sound quailty?
  13. Hello! I'm in need of some infomation, basically i wanted to upgrade to the logitech z625 2.1 computer speakers, i have the z506's and use them in a 3.1 setup, they sound great and work great. Had them for probably over 4 years now and they have yet to fail me. I am currently using an aux cable to connect to my motherboard. Basically the z625 has an optical port, my question is. Should i set them up on my computer with an optical cable going to my motherboard? Or an Aux cable? what is the difference? My motherboard has a optical port for sound, but some forums say its for consoles only. Well if its for consoles only why does my motherboard have one? My motherboard is the msi gaming 970, i have the realtek audio drivers and everything is fully updated and all audio drivers are working great! Under the spec sheet for my motherboard this is all it has for audio, hopefully this helps! The main reason i wanna go from a 3.1 to a 2.1, is because my center channel acts like another speaker, my driver has no clue that its a center speaker, and when i set it up in TRUE 3.1 mode, it basically doesnt work unless the game/movie/music im playing/watching is built for 3.1 or whatever, it honestly sounds better to have it just act as another speaker. The z625 is much much louder for the speakers are thx certifed, they should be great for gaming and music! (Prove me if i am wrong please ) Audio • Realtek® ALC1150 Codec - 7.1-Channel High Definition Audio - Supports S/PDIF output
