  1. Done a 3dmarks Time spy stress test of 20 loops and the card run with no problems the highest temp on the card was 82 degrees Celsius so within working parameters. play a few games today and see how it held up and everything seems to be running fine. As I said I'm only guessing it was water, to be honest, but it's not guaranteed that was it. I never saw anything that made water the problem, I read that some blocks can cause shorts also so I have no idea
  2. ok guys I disassembled the water block and cleaned the card completely with 90% ethanol. I then hit the card with a heat gun just enough to dry out any moisture that may have resided on the board. Next, I put on new thermal pads, artic mx5 thermal past, and reassembled the original block. Crossed my fingers and hoped for a miracle. turned on my pc and it fired up straight away. going to run some tests and keep an eye out for any sign of sparks or smoke. I think maybe somehow water must have got on the board and into the connector for the light, the smell was maybe the water burning away on the board, but at this stage, the water block is going in the bin. if I have to choose fan noise or dead GPU, I'm picking fan noise every time. will keep you all updated on the outcome.
  3. Hi guys ok I have an RTX 3090 zotac trinity oc. Worked fine on stock cooler for weeks, so decided to finish my build by waterblocking the card to complete my loop. Followed the install instructions to the letter and went to power on bit got nothing. I took the card out and reinstalled the original coolers after cleaning it up and got power and an output. So I tried the block again and it worked got great temps while testing it downstairs where I was building it, but when I moved the pc upstairs and powered it on, I got a spark from the card and the faint smell of burning. Any ideas what could be the problem and is my card now bricked?
  4. Haha yeah, I guess so. just prefer my attention focused on what I'm doing on-screen rather than my pc trying to hypnotize me into loving unicorns and rainbows. Having the thing want me to slip into flairs and do some John Travolta moves lol
  5. Awesome I've been fighting with myself over this for days now. I've already spent a small fortune on my pc and didn't want to spend a lot more, I saw the EK blocks were on a discount but they are sold out on the block. I don't want my pc looking like an 80s disco and would prefer minimum lights as possible. so this block would be ideal
  6. Thanks for the reply, so lat block will work with my OC variant then?
  7. Ok, so the build I want to look like: I've bought everything for the build except the GPU water block. I saw this https://www.aquatuning.co.uk/water-cooling/gpu-water-blocks/gpu-full-cover/fullsize/29719/alphacool-es-rtx-3080/3090-reference-copper/carbon-with-backplate It is listed as being compatible with the Zotac Geforce RTX 3090 Trinity but I have the Zotac Geforce RTX 3090 Trinity OC. both of these cards PCB look exactly the same as seen on: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/zotac-rtx-3090-trinity-oc.b8606 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/zotac-rtx-3090-trinity.b7934 so does anyone know if this block will work on my OC 3090?
  8. Ok so the build I want to look like the above but the version I'm building will be more like a sleeper pc, there won't be as many lights and stuff. I'm solely going for the water cooling to keep temps down and noise as low as possible on my rig. I have seen this: https://www.aquatuning.co.uk/water-cooling/gpu-water-blocks/gpu-full-cover/fullsize/29719/alphacool-es-rtx-3080/3090-reference-copper/carbon-with-backplate It is listed as compatible with the Zotac GeForce RTX 3090 Trinity, 24576 MB GDDR6X but my GPU is the OC edition. Looking both cards up on TechPowerUp, both cards appear to have the same PCB except mine is the overclocked version, so I'm assuming the cards aer the same and that block will work on mine also? https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/zotac-rtx-3090-trinity-oc.b8606 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/zotac-rtx-3090-trinity.b7934
  9. Ok so this is the pump and reservoir I bought, was thinking the pump should be mounted at the bottom of the case with the res just above. then the rad and fan assembly mounted just to the right, keeping most of the components pretty close. like this here are the parts I choose: https://www.aquatuning.co.uk/water-cooling/reservoirs/tubing-reservoirs/alphacool-reservoirs/21484/alphacool-eisbecher-helix-250mm-reservoir-blue https://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/Bitspower-D5-MOD-TOP-S-Model-G1--4-inch-Plexi_48653.html
  10. Hi everyone, I need a bit of advice on doing a custom loop for the first time, at this point, I'm only looking to cool my 5900x CPU, but will later water block my Zotac 3090 also. So I bought a second-hand case a few weeks ago that came with an XSPC water cooling loop pre-installed, I bought a Corsair hydro water block for my AMD processor as the one on the system was for Intel. filled the loop with purple corsair fluid and everything was fine. now I moved on to the next phase and bought the Thermaltake Core P5 and planned on using as many of the parts from the original build as I can ie fittings and hydro block. I would like to replace the original hoses with hard-line hoses for a better finish, but I have realized I have no idea hove I find out the sizes of the hoses already in there to get the equivalent. I assume the measurement is the outside and inside circumference of the tube but I'd only be guessing. I've bought a stand-alone water pump and a separate helix reservoir for the build, both use g1/4 connectors. so basically the only thing that confuses me is how to work out the hard-line I need to use.
  11. In saying that I did read that the 7900 is on par with a 4080 even that it isn't that far behind in the ray tracing front. maybe I will have to have a look again, I just don't have a lot of experience with AMD gpus, id be scared i bought it and hated it, were i already know Nvidia and its software. i havent owned an AMD gpu in about 20 years lol
  12. Yeah I looked at those but I think my kids would kill me if they didn't have ray tracing while playing game on my pc lol. I know the RX 7900 XT is rt capable but unfortunately AMD are still a bit behind on the ray tracing game. hopefully when new gens come out they can catch up, would be cool to have an all team red pc
  13. Ok so I've been building up my pc piece by piece to get something that I can be happy with for a long time. I have finished and my final piece of the puzzle is gpu, but the question is which to choose? My choice was to get a 3090 before 40 series came out but now I'm watching videos online saying the 4070ti is on par, some even saying its better, so it has thrown a spanner in the works. My daily usage ranges from all sorts of stuff, playing AAA titles, video rendering, video editing, etc, etc. So obviously if I'm going to pay for a good card to cover all bases the 3090 seemed like a good choice, until 40 series it was the workhorse gpu, plenty of vram for things like blender and also great for graphics output on games. But after seeing the 4070ti make the 3090 look like a toy makes me torn. They are both sitting at the same price point in todays crazy market, 4070ti is around £850 new and the 3090 is between 700 - 900 on the second hand market. My pc isn't running the newest tech specs, Ryzen 9 5900x 32gb (2x 8gb) Corsair Vengeance 3600mhz Zotac Geforce RTX 3060 1tb Samsung 860 evo 5tb Seagate hdd (solely for file storage) So basically its the best of last gen tech, but I don't feel for my usage I really need to be the top 1% and have all the latest stuff, no offence, but it just isn't me I'm afraid lol. So the dilemma is do i go for the 3090 to tick off all the boxes on what i use the pc for? or do i go for the 4070ti which will be better for game fps?
  14. Ok, so i bought a second hand Alienware aurora r10 Ryzen Edition case. Yes I know the thermals are a bit dire but I always wanted one and could never justify the 3 - 4k price tag. The case was immaculate, came with power supply and motherboard, and to my surprise it had the x570 board and 1000w power supply. OK great, so I put my gpu (rtx 3060), 32gb ram (corsair vengeance lpx 2x16 3200mhz) and my nvme and ssd drive. loaded defaults, set time and date and straight away it worked, the problems then started when I tried setting my xmp profile. I could simply not get it to register, every time I set xmp to enable the pc would reset to default values. I read online that it was a common problem if I don't use Kingston Fury ram like what actually shipped with these pc's, so I bought 32gb of fury ram and thought my trouble was over, but noooo. the fury ram will allow the 3000mhz xmp profile but repeats what happened with the corsair ram when I try to set its 3200mhz xmp profile. if i leave the xmp to auto it goes straight for 3000mhz xmp, i can get it to run 3200mhz by manually setting the voltage and speed but when im done with the pc and turn it off, once booted again the fans ramp up, the pc restarts 3 times and goes back to default values again. I've completely lost my mind trying all sorts of different things. I can even get 3600mhz ram to run by manually setting the voltage and speed, save and restart and going straight back into bios and setting the xmp profile to profile 1. it just wont allow the pc to keep the values after power down. Does anyone know a solution to fix this problem, any help would be appreciated thanks.
  15. lol im not a frame chaser to be fair. i dont want to get anymore frames i just wanted my ram to run as close to its speed as possible lol. i have 32gb of 3200mhx c16s running in the machine just now
