  1. I've been contemplating upgrading my Intel 4970K to an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, and when doing so I was hoping to get something that will play a lot nice with Linux (probably Mint or pop_os!) and/or dual booting. My current Asus Z97-A board is... Quirky, to say the least, with that bit. Any manufacturer and/or chipset to keep in mind? Or the other way around, anything in particular to avoid? I've got an ATX case.
  2. It sounds a little complicated, how does one downgrade the kernel?
  3. Nope. Thanks, but all this does not make any amount of sense to me. I see in your Terminal screenshot you have it opened in your Downloads folder. Okay, but where did you get the downloaded files from, the AMD site? I went there and downloaded the files meant for Ubuntu and tried to run the command you wrote from the Downloads folder, but the Terminal just responds with that it cannot find the file or directory. There seem to be at least one step missing in your written guide there.
  4. The first command yields an error, roughly, "Incorrect action ocl-icd-opencl-dev".
  5. Definitely looks to be an OpenCL error then. But, if this has been a known issue for a longer while, why has it not been solved I wonder?
  6. No, it definitely is not. The local web UI just shows it is stuck on 0.0%.
  7. I had it on for a few hours now, with trying a restart of the client to no avail. As for the firewall, that is beyond my knowledge as I would consider myself very much a beginner at all things Linux.
  8. Found the error. There should be an apostrophe at the end there, after 24. Now it... Seems to work? I can see the folding machine now from my main rig's FAHControl. It shows as online on the left hand side of the window, though clicking on it shows that it is "Updating" in yellow on the top of the window, as well as "Inactive". So one more issue seems to remain, then.
  9. Hey thanks a ton for the extensive reply! I had to edit the config you gave me as pasting it in on its own, replacing existing text, caused FAH to refuse to start after stopping it. Now it looks like this <config> <!-- Client Control --> <fold-anon v='true'/> <!-- Folding Slot Configuration --> <gpu v='true'/> <!-- Slot Control --> <power v='full'/> <!-- User Information --> <passkey v='passkey'/> <user v='user'/> <!-- Folding Slots --> <slot id='0' type='GPU'/> <!-- Remote Command Server --> <command-allow-no-pass v='127.0.0.1 192.168.1.0/24'/> </config> With this config, FAHClient starts and is accessible through the local machine web-UI. It is however still not possible to connect to it via another computer in the same LAN. On the local machine, it now correctly displays the GPU as the only slots and gets to the "Ready" point, but folding, again, never starts. Instead it just sits there and idles.
  10. Hey guys, I have been tearing my hair out over getting Folding@Home on my Radeon 280X to work on a leftover-rig running any Ubuntu-based distro. On Linux Mint, I have managed to install the FAHClient and FAHControl successfully, and I can add both a CPU and GPU slot. The CPU folding does work, but the CPU itself is very slow so I do not intend to run it. The GPU slot downloads a WU, but then just sits at "Ready" status and gets no further. Then I have tried Ubuntu 19, where the FAHClient successfully installs, while FAHControl fails without any meaningful information as to why. Accessing the FAH web interface shows that the Client is successfully running, but I have no options anywhere to add a GPU slot and/or remove the CPU slot. I attempted the terminal command ./FAHClient --configure and follow through the options given, but no GPU slot appears in the web interface despite that. I... Would really appreciate help as I am really at a loss on how to proceed here.
  11. Hm yes, their webppage issue is annoying indeed. Is there any point contacting their support, if they have any? There is only one SATA connected, which is to an Intel SSD. I have cleared the CMOS. I had the BIOS settings to power on instantly if there is power, after cleaing CMOS this no longer happens so the board seems to be functioning correctly. I actually had error 56 before error 32, this turned out to be the RAM stick being incorrectly placed, after inserting it correctly is, as I said, displays error 32. Im not sure what you mean by checking the CPU. This is the only Intel CPU I have, and I know for a fact before a longer storage, the system worked, and the CPU and motherboard wasnt touched in that duration.
  12. Hello! I'm having issues with a Zotac Z68 motherboard. It won't give any display output when started, and the motherboard's LED is displaying the number "32". The proble, is I have no idea what any of the LED error codes mean. Does anyone happen to know, or have a link to some guide somewhere? I have been looking on my own without results, unfortunately, and I have no physical papers saying anything about the LED.
  13. Hello everyone, I just bought myself three of the basic AP unit and I am attempting to set them up. However I run into problem while trying to launch the controller software after installing it. It tells me after sitting on the "Starting UniFi controller" for a couple of minutes that "The server took too long to start". None of the guides I've read actually covers this issue and I am in a loss what to do next and what the issue is. The way I am trying to set things up is: The modem is plugged into my Asus RT-N66U router, from which the LAN slots goes into the PoE brick of the AP and onto the AP itself. Is there any ports I need to forward? Or what am I missing here? Edit. I attempted plugging the Ethernet cable directly into my computer without going through the routher. The setup still fails on the exact same place.
  14. Thank you for your help. Yes, it seems it was the passkey that was the problem. Weird! I never used a passkey before and back then it was no problem. Im not a folding enthusiast, so I dont do any reading or research about it, I just let the client run whenever I dont play games.
