So I just figured out how to check what BIOS I'm using, and I pulled up Dell's page for what bios I'd need if I was to update it, and what I found is that I'm running bios version A14, and was updated on 7/31/2015, but the latest system bios made available for this device is version A12, last updated Nov 4, 2013.
(screenshots attached for the device and Dell's website)

I will see if I can update or.. down date? The bios, that might help it out a lot.

ive tried fully uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating and whatnot. and the only problem with trying onboard graphics, is that most of the problems occur when gaming except the blackscreen issue which i can't replicate on command and doesnt happen too often. I will see what i can do as far as troubleshooting with onboard graphics though thanks

The fingerprint on my new HP Probook 445 G7, does not work, neither does it show up in Device manager (DEVMGMT.msc)

I tried to reinstall the driver, but the driver does nothing. It unpacks, then when you run it. Just runs in the background for a bit then exits.
    tried to reboot several times.

The Manual says it has fingerprint, and i can see the fingerprint on my device.
Ive looked in the bios and there's no able to disabled / enable it as i can see.

    Any help is apprichiated.

HI, I found a thread on the exact issue you have. Apparently, your laptop has the little indent on the palm rest for the fingerprint scanner, but maybe not the hardware that's supposed to be underneath. I found that for your laptop, the scanner is an optional feature, but if you are sure its an option yours has, it may be a hardware issue.
You can always try going into device manager and scanning for hardware changes.

Neither of those are really appropriate for Photoshop, the screens are very inaccurate.

OP: Forget Ryzen vs Intel, 8 vs 16GB or anything else. Your primary objective when getting a machine for image editing is a screen that -at least- covers the sRGB color space. Otherwise, what you see on your screen won’t be what others see on their screen or in print.

A good site to reference screen accuracy is notebookcheck. They have stars for just about every model out there.

Most laptops in that price range are going to only have 8gb of ram. Unless you find a really good deal, I have been looking online, and here is one of the best deals I found. Its a 10th gen i5 though, with 8gb of ram and 512gb ssd. 2020 HP from Amazon.

That one looked pretty good, but again only 8gb of ram....

@Saheed Yeah, I do agree that would make it more affordable, and upgrading your laptops ram is always a good idea. But since its a new machine upgrading the ram could void the warranty. So if it stops working during the warranty period, the manufacturer wont fix it. But if OP's friend is ok with losing warranty, upgrading the ram a good option.

are there many laptops for $600 with a 4700u? It seems like getting a higher end cpu and having to like, get 8gb of ram instead of 16 is going to be worse long term.

ToolMan reacted to centurion_08 in Something magical about playing a game off the disc.
I caught myself on experiencing unsual pleasure from playing video games off disc's rather than pc "launchers"
I'm 33, a husband, a father of 2 boys and for the past couple of months i don't have that much time to play games. 2 or 3 hours tops a day, and that's if i sacrifice my sleep.
Recently i went back to pc to play some games and it didn't feel right. Something about just launching a game (an icon) off desktop made me switch it off in minutes.
I was bored and not excited. Being distracted by all the things i can do, i coudn't focus on a goal. So i wen't back to my ps4 i popped a Resident Evil 3 disc and immediately had an urge to play the hell out of it.
Something about the box and puting a disc in the console. It felt like a celebration, me, disc and the game. I was appreciating the moment i had.
This post is a total mess and it seems like a retarded gibberish. I don't think i can properly convey what i mean by this.
Anyway, had to throw it out there.
