  1. Hi everyone, I was wondering whether anyone knew how to go about replacing the screen on the Asus (Vivobook 14) X415E-EB383T, as I can't seem to find any screws for the besel or screen, and no online tutorials. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! See photos!
  2. Hi all, I'm having some problems with a Lenovo G700 Laptop that I'm fixing up to sell, in that the keyboard has been faulty for a while, but now all of the keys have started working again, a few of them have the wrong mapping. I am in the UK so use QWERTY mapping, but the problem keys are J, K and L. For example, J types I, and K types O, and L types P - notice how all of these are the keys directly above the ones that are supposed to be typed in my keyboard layout. So far, I've checked Windows 10 settings to ensure I am using UK mapping, checked the registry code and it matched UK QWERTY, updated the latest Lenovo keyboard driver, and used a keyboard mapping tweaking utility to try and adjust the mapping, but that read that the keys were mapped correctly. I'm now starting to think this could be a hardware problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for your reply. I do have a barcode scanner, so it would be good to use that if possible. I've done a few things with EAC before, and it seems very reliable, just the downside that the disk does have to be put into a PC in order to read and save the data.
  4. Hi all, Just wondering whether anyone knew any good pieces of software that enable you to find music data e.g. album, artist etc. from barcodes on the back of a CD? I have a CD collection that I would like to inventory, so wondering if there was any way of using my barcode scanner to recognise the details in an (ideally) free piece of software. Many thanks.
  5. Thanks very much, that's great. I've just tried it now, and no problems!
  6. Thanks, I don't think this will create a loop: Main network router (connected to external telephone line, UK system) -> TP-Link wa850re extender (extending this original network) Plugged into this TP-Link extender is an ethernet cable, running to the LAN port on my PoE Adapter The POE port on the Adapter then runs to a Mitel VOIP phone through the LAN port on there. My only concern would be that the TP-Link extender is creating a Wi-Fi signal on an extended network whilst the ethernet is connected, but this is the same way in which other networks work, so hopefully it will be okay.
  7. Hi everyone - just a quick question. Is it possible to connect the LAN port of a Power over Ethernet adapter into a WiFi extender / ethernet switch please? Just wanted to check in case there was a risk of looping the network, but can't see any obvious reason for this to occur. Thank you!
  8. That looks good, thank you - I'll have a fresh go with your guide. I think that there are real connectivity problems with this Nexus, tried multiple cables and computers (admittedly, windows only until now), and they all report errors with adb not displaying any 'online' devices. See how it goes...
  9. Thanks for your reply. I've had a look around for other guides, so will probably follow a Lineage OS official guide instead with their gapps and files. With transferring the ROM via MTP, I've been having much difficulty with Android USB drivers and getting my PC (Win 10) to recognise the Nexus 7 - the hardware connect/disconnect sound appears to play about 20 times over the course of connecting the device, with a very erratic adb experience for debugging on command line. Is there any particular script I could use in ADB to transfer the files over, or maybe hopefully it will show up in File Explorer - might try another machine?
  10. I have been working with an old-ish Asus / Google Nexus 7 (2013, Wi-Fi), trying to install Android 9/10 on there using Resurrection Remix (see link Install Android 9.0 pie on Google Nexus 7 2013 (Resurrection Remix) - How to Guide! - The Upgrade Guide) I have all of the files needed for this, and have got as far as getting TWRP recovery installed, and wiping the device. It's just a case of flashing the new OS to the ROM via TWRP. Only problem being that, I can't find the files when browsing in TWRP, even though I copied them from my PC into the internal storage beforehand. Please note this device doesn't have an SD card slot, so can't use that to transfer. I looked at using the USB-OTG option, so got an adapter, FAT32 formatted USB et al., but it wouldn't recognise it. Just wondering whether anyone had any ideas as to how to transfer these files from my PC onto somewhere usable in TWRP, bearing in mind that is the only software currently installed on the ROM. Thank you!
  11. I have an old (ish) HP ProBook 4540s, and was using Windows 8.1 on the machine when the touchpad stopped working. I didn't think much of it and used an external mouse, as a reboot didn't fix anything. Carrying on with the upgrade process, the laptop now has Windows 10 20H2 on it, but the touchpad is still not working. I have the Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad driver installed, and the change in OS didn't fix anything, making me think that this is a hardware problem. Anyone who thinks that the ProBooks have a 'touchpad light', they would be right - this model has one too, except for the fact that it won't respond to any of my touches to activate the trackpad - other ProBooks I have don't respond either, but their trackpads are still working. The function keys don't help either. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
  12. Google Forms is a good bet, and you can choose whether people have to log in or not, which is handy. I do like Microsoft Forms, as you can upload lots of pictures and info, and there are plenty of different options for questions. The analytics on Forms are great too. Not sure whether you need a Microsoft Account for that though...
  13. Thanks for your reply. I know Windows has the BitLocker Software, and probably an XP version too. I have never actually been able to get Windows Password Protection to work, even on Win 7 and 10 - I check the box with the option, and it never asks me for a password (might just use my user account). I'll see if the entire drive could be encrypted in XP, and will wait to see if anyone else responds with software recommendations...
