  1. I have come across a topic I can't seem to find a lot of information about. There are several brands and all the reviews seem about 50/50 good and bad. And while going with a more well known brand is probably fine. There are details I can't find information on. Some surge protectors have rj11 ports for telcom protection. Others also include rj45 for network devices. It seems that every rj45 port on surge protectors is only 10/100 which is crazy this day and age. But there is no information about the rj11 jacks. Will that throttle a dsl connection? If I use the rj11 I would assume that there wouldn't be a need to also have surge protection further down the line. How do people protect their networks? Is there some industry standard I am missing? Also is there also a more industrial option that would be overkill? I have been thinking of building an overkill home network rack amd would like to include surge protection on both a power and network cable front.
