NewHopeTech got a reaction from TechyBen in Do you shut down your PC each night?
My main computer is a laptop so most nights I just put it to sleep but once or twice a week I shut it down. I use my desktop as a server for various things so I keep that on 24/7.

The design still needs a bit of work before it is being released. One thing I am finding is that different manufacturers seem to put their sockets in slightly different locations and minor differences like that.

I plan to make these available once I am satisfied that most others using these will be satisfied as well.

For anyone who also cares about privacy I would recommend setting up DNS over HTTPS, that way all your requests are encrypted. You can find the official guide here.

Also if you want to use your DNS server away from home you can follow this official guide here. But setting it up to have a VPN and DNS server there are some changes that we need to do that don't follow the guide.
Under "installation", you can skip the install pi-hole part since you should already have installed pi-hole. (For more experienced linux users: the port of the openvpn server can be anything. But make sure the port isn't already in use or that your ISP blocks it when port forwarding. Can be handy to bypass port blocks by using port 433 or 80) Skip finding the IP under "Setup OpenVPN Server" and change `10.8.0.1` to the ip of your RPi(Raspberry Pi) which you already have if you followed Jake's guide. Before creating an user follow this: Run command: `openvpn --genkey --secret ta.key` Edit the config file and add this line: `tls-auth ta.key 0`
(This adds an encryption layer between the client and the server, so some extra security) You can probably skip "Firewall Configuration" since Raspbian doesn't have a firewall pre-installed and you also don't have installed any Follow these parts of "Optional: Dual operation: LAN & VPN at the same time" Add this line to your `/etc/openvpn/server/server.conf`: `push "route 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0"` but change `192.168.2.0` to your subnet which you can find in your ip, for example if your ip is: `192.168.1.43` you replace `192.168.2.0` with `192.168.1.0` and with `192.167.8.28` you replace it with `192.167.8.0`. But if your IP is for example `10.8.0.7` you'll probably need to replace the whole line with `push "route 10.8.0.0 255.255.0.0"`. Run this command: `pihole -a -i all` After this port forward `1194` or the port you decided to use on your router, you can find guides online.  Let me know if you find a mistake in this.

So my friends got a 2007 24" iMac with a dead hard drive. After I open it up and put a new drive in there and swap over the thermal probe, how do I get some version of MacOS on it? Can I download an iso on a different mac, then put it on a flash drive just like a windows or linux iso? Did Apple make it harder than that just cause?

The nice thing about them is you can get the kit with all the tools you need. I recently purchased one for the original pixel. Too new to say anything other than it fit and it works. Does work like new again though.

HP Omen 17 with 8750H, before repaste it cannot complete Cinebench R15 with undervolt and disabling PL2 (so it's limited by 45w PL1) without thermal throttling.

Maybe HP did a crap paste job on my unit specifically, and the much bigger and heavier heatsink makes a bigger difference on my laptop to yours. Still worth repasting imo. (I'm using Cooler Master Mastergel Maker)

8750H with 0.125V undervolt after repaste, runs Cinebench R15 at 3.5GHz at 45w instead of 3GHz. It only reaches 75C with the same settings, and can complete R15 with undervolt and 65w PL2 all the way while maxing out at 83C.

Yes, it will power throttle when the sum of power draw from the CPU and iGPU (socket power) reaches the PLs. Less CPU power draw = more room for the iGPU. You can also undervolt the iGPU btw.

There should be screw included with the ssd. The bottom of the ssd is attached to the holes in the bottom of the hard drive sled with screws. Usually hard drives can be snapped on to the hard drive sleds, but I can't tell if this case comes with those types of sleds, it looks like it might.

RAM is pretty much the safest computer part to get used. Is there a risk? Sure. Is the risk high? Not really. Technically there's a risk I'll get killed by an elephant tonight, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Expecting a consumer GPU launch this spring is incredibly optimistic. The only reason I would wait right now is if you want 8th gen Intel and they are out of stock.

Literally anything with an HDMI port. If you only need it to test if you have a dead GPU then what is "best" isn't important. Also, the used market is different everywhere, so it is almost impossible for us to give you an answer.

This has to do with the sub options. In this case, the stuff in the Advanced menu. The filled box means some of those advanced options are selected, a check mark means all of the advanced options are selected.

If your budget is max $200 then a haswell i3 and a cheap 1150 mobo is your best bet.
