  1. Intel Core i7-8700K Desktop Processor. AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor YD270XBGAFBOX. Intel Core i5-8400 Desktop Processor. are great pairs with the 1070. looking at your budget the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is the best choice: https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-2700x/p/N82E16819113499?Description=AMD Ryzen 7 2700X&cm_re=AMD_Ryzen 7 2700X-_-19-113-499-_-Product
  2. Just wipe it off with a cotton swab and some alcohol. Depending on the paste it's probably electrically conductive, so it might make unintended contacts which could be catastrophic.
  3. So what i do is get a gpu stress testing program. So first start bumping up all the parameters by 10: the memory clock speed, core clock speed, and core voltage. after you have done that run the stress test for about 2-5 min if you see everything is stable and you see no artifacts then repeat the process until you hit the max. for OC software i would use MSI After Burner (scroll to the bottom for download) and for the stress test i would use MSI Kombustor

  7. Really i had no idea i thought you could just pop the scissor switch back into place.
  8. It might be some glue that has become unstuck the easy solution is just to ask for a replacement.
  9. How loud is it? If it is decently loud it could be something hitting or brushing the fan like maybe a cable.
