  1. Soooo I wanna do something VERY dumb. I want to take the Thermaltake SpinQ I have new in box, and I want to mount it to a modern system and give it rgb. Have any of you madlads done this? And if not, does anyone maybe have any ideas as to how this could be done? Thanks!
  2. Long story short, I'm building an "as cheap as possible" home theater PC. I already found an amazing deal on an AMD RX 560, and im planning on pairing that with an old dell 295w 80+ gold psu (it has a standard 24 pin power, 4 pin cpu, and a few sata connectors.) I had lying around from another upgrade. I'm thinking of using a Cooler Master Elite 110 because its really small and can accommodate a full sized psu. What would be a good, CHEAP, ITX motherboard and processor to pair it with? Im definitely not afraid of the used market, though I really want to be able to have 16gb of ram. M.2 support would definitely be a plus. Thanks!
  3. I raised the voltage and loaded the XMP profile. My computer boots, but as soon as i go into task manager, it says my ram speed is 1833mhz. And that was my mistake. I thought it saif 2833mhz, but it was actually 1833mhz.
  4. Congrats on your purchase! The 2060 super is a great card! I mean, AMD cards don't necessarily suck. The rx 570 is still the budget graphics card to beat. The rx 5600 xt forced the 2060 down in price because of its great performance per dollar. AMD just has a history of releasing products in a state that is less polished than nvidia, but they still work hard to try and polish them up as they go. The rx 5700 xt for the right price is a godsend to any gamers that want great performance for a cheap price, especially considering how bad budget Nvidia cards are made. Im an Nvidia fan too. But dismissing a competitors products as "they suck" doesnt do anyone any favors.
  5. XMP crashes the computer too. Im actually fairly new to ram overclocking. Do you know of any easy to follow tutorials online to loosen the timings a bit?
  6. My system has a Ryzen 7 2700x, an Asrock steel legend mother board, an MSI Evoke OC rx 5700 xt, and 32gb of Gskill Trident Z RGB ram (2 kits of 2x8gb sticks) rated at 3200mhz. Whenever I set the ram speed above 2833mhz (which is what the bios defaults at) it hard crashes and wont post again until I clear the CMOS. Can someone help?
  7. I do agree with brass being more steampunk, but the MSI Evoke RX 5700xt is gold. I'm thinking a vinyl wrap of my psu is going to be the cheapest, most effective way to add more pink.
  8. Well, it doesn't necessarily need to be true to steampunk. I'd be very happy with some sort of fusion theme. Matching gold is hard, and steampunk was a fairly obvious choice. And stained glass is probably out of my price range... A lot of the materials id be using is stuff I already have. I'm thinking I could just vinyl wrap my psu, or wrap my sata ssd and tape it on there. Im just hoping to find something a bit more thematic.
  9. I really want some pink in there to match my mouse and keyboard. I'm using a custom Magicforce 68 which i soldered Kailh box pink switches to and topped those with Tai Hao pink and white doubleshot keycaps, and my mouse is the Sades Musket Angel edition. My keyboard has a bit of a Sakura theme going on with the spacebar, too. I think with the way this build is theoretically going, i might replace my "WASD" keys with some wooden ones. But I was thinking some rose quarts set to flicker in the bottom right hand corner, but when i mocked up what that would look like, it really didn't look all that great.
  10. So, I'm planning on doing some fairly basic mods to make a build around the MSI Evoke RX 5700 xt. I decided on a steampunk-esque build with highlights of pink and gold. So there will be a decent bit of wood veneer and leather. The attached picture is mostly what i have planned so far, with the just brown being leather. But, aesthetically, it definitely needs something pink in the bottom left hand corner internally and maybe some things on the clear window side panel. I could really use some help with ideas! Thanks!
  11. Thinking about it... fans spin. theoretically if i mask out the fan, it will spin out of the way and I can still get decent inside edge coverage. The masking would be an absolute PAIN though.
  12. If you need help picking out keyswitches, Chyrosan22 on YouTube has some amazing, in depth videos about the way key switches feel and function. He has been focusing on older keyswitches these days, but hes definitely worth looking at.

The Ripjaws V is the ram I would personally go with for the best "bang for the buck" however, I understand how people really dig their rgb. If you're doing CAD, 32gb of ram would be way better than 16gb. You can either go with a smaller hard drive or just leave it out entirely, but that is a lot of storage for not much money (plus, 500gb gives you enough room for a decent number of none AAA games. and programs, so things should launch relatively quickly) Power Supply prices are just AWFUL right now. I'm not sure why, but they just are. Thermal take isn't the best company, but its FAR from the worst. The 2060 KO isnt the BEST at games? But its technically 2080 silicon in there. It does super well in more workstation compute tasks. The case can be swapped out for something cheaper, like the way cheaper Cooler Master Q300L, but the thermals inside that case are far from amazing. Also, you dont NEED to activate windows now or even at all. if you're okay with a watermark on your screen, you can just save the $110. Anyway, I really hope this helps!
  14. I mean if your'e a person that doesn't look at the keyboard while typing, you should be fine with just setting your keyboard layout to "QWERTY." However, if you plan to actually switch the keys, be warned, I have seen MANY people break the switches when trying to take them apart. Normally, I would recommend replacing the entire keyboard, but I'm not sure how Asus actually secures their keyboard (Plus, I have a feeling it would be a HUGE hassle to do so, especially when there are stickers that you can place on your keyboard if you're a hunt and peck type of typist).
  15. Ah, my apologies. No Newegg is rather unfortunate! AMD has had a rough past when it comes to graphics cards, I will admit. My RX 580 has been rock solid (but in hindsight, I suppose that card is ANCIENT by today's standards, so AMD has had time to get their act together.) but I totally get wanting an Nvidia card.
