epicomark reacted to bellabichon in Which should I get between the two? Helppp
For that config, 550W is definitely enough. You might have to switch out for an upgraded power supply if you make major changes down the line, but I think I'd still recommend the corsair unit.

What is your system? Will you need the extra 100W? The Corsair unit is better built, and the Cooler Master unit has some issues with coil whine at low load. From the forum's PSU Tier List:
If you need the extra 100W and silence isn't a huge concern for you, go with the Cooler Master unit. If not, go with the Corsair.

for 600 dollars budget look used gpus. rx 580, rx 590
gtx 1070 could fit your budget if found used. you should buy the ram used too. i usually buy the cpu, ram and gpu used, sometimes mothebroard. ram usually goes at 50-70% of the price when bought used instead of buying new.

Maybe look at the rx580 4gb cards. Those can't be used for (profitable) mining anymore so the price is much lower. Also, miners usually take very good care of their cards, they have to protect their investment, usually keeping temps low and efficiency high.

Never rely on a brand. Ever. Deal with specific cards only. There are no brands that have never messed up a GPU.

I would look into getting a used RX 580. It should be a significantly lower price than a new 1650 Super with similar performance, and twice the VRAM.

yeah, i'd avoid that. get a sata ssd as @jaslionrecommended
-
epicomark reacted to jaslion in Is this Good?
If possible get either a regular cheaper sata drive like a wd blue or mx500. The sa400 is not a good ssd.
The motherboard you chose is well simply put terrible and maxes out at a ryzen 3600 due to bad vrms.
Case wise get a mesh front panel so you have the best possible ventilation.
You may also wanna look into getting a used gpu so you have some more money left to spend on the other parts.

Pretty sure an earlier version of minecraft would run just fine on it - some early versions are arguably more fun too

Good, this will force people to recommend truly good, timeless games where the merits are in the gameplay, not the fancy graphics.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Half Life 1&2
Halo: Combat Evolved
OG Star Wars Battlefront 2
Pretty sure if you dial down the settings a lot and run at a low resolution, you can run - and enjoy - Oblivion, Morrowind, Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins, OG Bioshock.
I would be shocked if you can't easily run these. They're all bangers and IMO look pretty good - great art.

GOG has a ton of DOS games for free. Besides there are more DOS games that aren't free but should run just fine.

Even minecraft would be too much for that system. Look at games from 2006 and earlier or some ps1, n64 emulators or older consoles. Other than that there isn't much you could even try playing on it.

epicomark reacted to gloop in Recommend me Light Weight Games
Doubt you can run the majority of games, let alone online games.
Id point you towards console emulators.

I personally wouldn't get an A320 board at all cost. Yes, it's probably okay to use with an APU or a Ryzen 3, but unlike a CPU or a GPU, a motherboard is something you can actually future-proof by getting a good one in the first place so you don't need to buy a better one should you want to upgrade the CPU. Especially considering the wide upgrade path provided by the AM4 platform, where you can move from a 4 core 4 thread to an 8 core 16 thread.

My experience: Okay for light usage, and when it gets to downloading, gaming, etc, latency is the problem. Just, avoid.

Repeat after me:
Wait for reviews.
Don't trust brands.

Also don't pre-order! People been saying this for years now:

epicomark reacted to TehDwonz in Brand Of Nvidia Cards
Yep, never understood the crazy pre-ordering thing. It serves only to encourage bad products (especially games!) in the end. The only thing I'd make an exception for would be something like a music album, where I know the artist and/or samples have been available. Goes for anything subjective that can't have bugs or flaws that ruin functionality.
But especially hardware, it can lead to lazy QA/testing, as they're getting a tonne of money before they're finished. Not all companies will necessarily go that way, but the more it happens, the easier it is to slip into a "let the users test it" situation.
