TrickEgo reacted to Juular in Lian-Li 750W SFX 80Gold or Corsair 750W SFX 80Platinum For 3070
SF600 should be fine for RTX3070, and i would avoid Lian-Li SP for the time being, it's a fairly small OEM, with it seems like, little experience in SFX units. And although it did pass Aris testing just fine, personally i'm still sceptical about it.

I say "buy corsair but be careful"

you dont need to get a new PSU.
if you want to get a new PSU for some reason. the SF750 would be the best choice as far as SFX PSUs go, as far as im aware.

I'd go corsair all the way, though I haven't checked any reviews on the other PSU, so I am not entirely sure.

SF600 is fine for 3900X + 3070.
SF750 is better. There's probably something wrong with the Lian Li

im not a PSU buff but im pretty sure the only thing that platinum will save you is your power bill. How much? I can imagine maybe a few bucks a year

TrickEgo reacted to Haro in idle temps for 3900x too hot?
Yes, that's normal, either way idle temps dont matter, load temps do.

TrickEgo reacted to Master Disaster in idle temps for 3900x too hot?
Ahh, fair enough. I'll edit it out.

TrickEgo reacted to Mateyyy in idle temps for 3900x too hot?
That's the VID in the screenshot OP attached, not the Vcore. Either way, 1.5V at idle won't damage it, and it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) constantly ask for 1.5V anyway even at idle, at least with the Balanced power plan in Windows.
-
TrickEgo reacted to Master Disaster in idle temps for 3900x too hot?
Yep. Its a function of how the CPU handles boosting.
When idle the CPU will boost some of the cores to much higher than the others can reach in order to speed up low intensity high frequency tasks, while doing this it will use more voltage to keep those cores stable. This is normal.
What isn't normal however is 1.5v being applied to all cores on your CPU. Nevermind, turns out I can't read a simple table.

TrickEgo reacted to Moonzy in Need advice on upgrading case fans.
cooling wise, i wouldnt bother
fan bearing health wise, i dont know enough to comment on it
but i would personally use it as is, and just replace the fans when the bearings die
-
TrickEgo reacted to Moonzy in Need advice on upgrading case fans.
use it as is
though this is sort of negative pressure, so i wouldnt personally run it
and you're mixing fans on your radiator, which some people may suggest you dont

Why do the googling work yourself when you can have other people doing the job for you, right? :'D

TrickEgo reacted to Heliian in AIO Heat sink scratched/dark spots normal?
I would just hit it with some fine scotchbrite to clean it up if need be. Just a bit of tarnish by the looks of it.

Oh yeah there were some issues with Zen 2 early at launch, but most major ones have been ironed out for a while now to my knowledge.
I got that 3600X earlier this year so by that time the platform was working fine. You can generally get away with a slight negative voltage offset (-0.025, -0.05, -0.075, -0.1) without losing performance and dropping a few degrees.

A 3600 would have been enough for that GPU and for gaming, and the 120mm AiO would have been a better fit for too, imo.😛

TrickEgo got a reaction from xg32 in CPU temps while gaming spike
So my best cpu and gpu temps where with the following.
Turned off PBO
Still left the PBO Clock boost on and added 100, but i dont know if that does anything really.
Set my GPU voltage curve in the picture.
Negitive offset of 0.125 instead of the 0.1 i had.
Cinebench full load at 81.5 degrees. (i messed up last night got 80 but one of the mesh panels were off)
I got temps of 64-68 for the gpu and 64 to 72 for the cpu while gaming for the hour. With PBO one i got up to 79 and it ran about 68/69 on average on the cpu. I will keep PBO off.
