270 is a 7870, and will do that resolution fine with great FPS
7950 is a bloody awesome card, slightly above the 270(7870) speeds, the only thing that really seperates them is the shader count, memory bus and memory amount.
If your not moving to 1080p or above anytime soon, grab the 270, if your using MAXIMUM details Or going for HighFPS or looking to move UP to 1080p or beyond. Has to be the 7950!

time and time again, people try to reference "futureproofing" with computer hardware, but to no avail. There are no such thing as futureproofing a computer it will fail in some point in time because there will be features that will start to surface and the hardware you spent lots of money on wont have.
If you can play YOUR games now fine, then dont upgrade. Just do it whenever you see your computer dont perform to your satisfactory, its all personal preferences and a subjective argument, but its the only truth you can play around when buying computer hardware.

I would say the GPU itself doesn't cost a lot actually.  They're probably getting something like a 30% margin on mid range cards and closer to 50% on the high end, but that still barely covers the billions AMD and Nvidia put into R & D every year. 
 
Works the same as the car market.  GM makes no profit on the corvette even though it has the highest profit margin in their car lineup.  They make all of their money on the cheaper cars because they didn't need to do much R & D for them since they already did that when building the last corvettes.  Nvidia and AMD make their high end cards just expensive enough to cover their losses then make small profits on the low and mid range.

I was thinking the same thing and I think im going to look at the prices for the 9000 series, if they are too much ill buy another 7950, if there not too much and perform well, ill sell my 7950 and get a new 9000 series card.

7870 would probably be your best bet.

I have a few suggestions & a few comments for you brother.
First things first, do not get an FX 4350, you can get an FX 6300 for 20$ less, the CPU draws slightly less power than the FX 4350 so you don't have to worry about the power delivery of the board it's also got 2 more cores which will come in very handy in a bunch of workloads including some games like Far Cry 3 and Crysis 3.
Secondly, a great cooler for this setup would be the Noctua NH-C14, it's whisper quiet and it's low profile, furthermore the cooler blows cool air onto the VRMs cooling them essentially working as a VRM heatsink which this motherboard lacks, this will improve stability and even allow you to overclock your CPU.

Thirdly, you can get a Sapphire 7970 Dual-X for 320$ new on amazon right now, that's more than 100$ cheaper than the 7970 Ghz edition you've picked, you can easily overclock the 7970 Dual-X to 1050Mhz on the stock voltage, giving you Ghz edition performance with very little effort.
 

not really. ram doesnt take up a significant load of power.  It allows for more overclocking headroom as you can raise the voltage safely to 1.5. if you had a 1.5v 1333 kit you would most likely end up with a 1600 kit at 1.65v once you oc'd it, but a 1.35 kit can oc safely while still staying at a lower voltage.  So a better overclocker.

I should be able to rma this one and get another but i will be really ticked off if it dies again within 3 months and probably just buy a 780 in a fit of rage. 

Your comment does not help anyone in any way shape or form. If you had a bad experience with a set if products, don't scream it to the whole world. Asus makes amazing products and like everything else in the world, it can fail due to age or your luck.

This is not a driver issue, the card is defective RMA it.

I agree with this, it now comes in a white edition too.

One of the best looking is the Xigmatek Dark Knight II and it performs very well from all the reviews that I've read.

Some are bad and some are good. Mine are quite good to be honest. Some people use big aquarium coolers to cool their pc and some servers and they can keep temps to as low as 10 degrees under full load but you get condensation which is a big problem
