Greetings, I’m looking into upgrading my pre-built desktop, it’s an HP 580-023w. Currently it has an i5 7400, 1060 3gb, 16gb of ram, and a 300w power supply. I’m planning on basically buying an entire new rig piecemeal and using my current desktop as a temporary home for the components due to the motherboard being proprietary and not compatible with many different CPU’s. Right now the exact order of parts I’m considering is a new 650w power supply, then getting a new gpu (I know the current cpu will bottleneck It but With it being a short-term pairing I’m not too concerned as long as it will still run.), I’m looking into getting either a Used 1080 ti Or a 2070 S. I’ll get the new motherboard and CPU together, I’m looking at the MPG Z490 gaming edge motherboard, and an i5 10600. I’ve also got the noctura NH-U12S as the cpu fan. Does this seem like a good build and path to build it? Any and all thoughts or advice on what I should do would be appreciated. This is my first time opening up a pc and I would love any sound advice.
