I recently bought a new CPU for my desktop (see specs below), and after installing it and powering the PC on, there was no display, connected USB devices didn't turn on, and a yellow-orange LED labeled "DRAM" next to the RAM slots is on.
After an hour of Googling and trying various things, nothing has changed my predicament. I've tried (not in this order):
Every possible configuration of my 2 RAM cards in all 4 RAM slots and turning it on
Putting my old CPU back in and turning it on
Unplugging various cables attached to the MB and turning it on
Pulling out the graphics card and turning it on
Plugging the monitor into all HDMI and DPs on both the MB and GC
Attempting to reset the CMOS via removing the battery and short-circuiting the CLRTC pins on the motherboard
Combinations of the above
After every attempt at doing something, the results remain unchanged: no display, no power to plugged in USB devices, and yellow-orange DRAM LED lit.
The PC was fully functional not 10 minutes before the new CPU was installed and the power turned on. The RAM, the MB, the CPU were all fine. I unplugged everything that was plugged in to the outside of the tower. I made sure there was no thermal paste residue on the pins of the new CPU or in the CPU socket on the MB before putting it in, and no pins were bent. The only thing besides the heat sink fan's power that I unplugged was the CPU power, but I touched nothing else on the MB while uninstalling the heat sink and CPU and putting the new CPU in (had to keep the old heat sink because the new one attaches differently).
I'm at the end of my wits with this.
