  1. Ahh okay, thanks good to know.
  2. Yea I do plan to do virtulization that's why I want the 128gb of ram. OK thanks been very helpful.
  3. OK thanks the dell idrac license, is part of that or is it separate, on the config page I see itccomes standard with a nic that supports it but didn't see anywhere for the license on the page.
  4. Ok thanks, makes sense I thought as much but wanted to make sure with someone that has experience. the server will come with Windows server 2022, since our core applications are windows base
  5. OK thanks for the info any advice between the 745 & 755 controllers?
  6. Our current server is software raid never gave any issues, until now but it looks more like a dying drive. Also found out that the server has 3 drive in raid 5 n the fourth standalone which has the os and data partition n basically all the data is on the data partition and not on the raid volume, so it's only storing non critical data
  7. I recently learned of light out management (lom). Is that something that you can use to remote control the server like anydesk or team viewer? If so how do I gain access to it?
  8. HI good day, I'm looking at getting a quote for a new Dell rack server to take to management, as our servers are over 10yrs old. I'm thinking of going all ssd, a 240gb ssd raid 1 boot drive and 4 480 sata ssd drives in raid 5 for data. My question should I go with software raid or Dell hardware raid they have two controllers H745 and 755 options. The difference between the two is the 745 is pci gen 3 with 4gb cache and the 755 is pci 4 with 8gb cache. If I'm going hw raid would going with the 755 be beneficial in any way? Server is config with 128gb ram and 20c/40t Intel xeon silver 4316 cpu
  9. Ok thanks, Ya i've been thinking since i have the three nas if the raid5 would have been a bit of an overkill
  10. Good day, Im thinking of buying three identical synology nas for a project I'm doing. Two are going to be at home directly link together for fail-over mode and a third offsite being mirrored (so essentially all three going to be a backup of each other). I cant decide if i should run in RAID 5 so i still can sustain a drive failure ( so essentially i need to lose two nas and 2 drives before any data lose occur) or just setup it up in raid 0 for maximum storage (where i would need to lose just 2 nas and 1 drive to lose data). Any thoughts?
  11. Thanks but the 144 is the more expense version, yes it upgrade-able has 2 m.2 slots n supports up 2 64Gb of ram. The 144 comes with the upgraded ram n ssd vs the 240 one.
  12. Good day guys, I am torn in making a decision could you please advice me thanks. So my issue is i have a budget of $1800 for purchasing a laptop and i have narrowed down my choice to the MSI GS66 out of this model i have two option one for $1700 and the other $1800. $1700 GPU: 2060 6GB Display 240hz CPU: i7 10750H RAM: 16GB SSD: 512GB $1800 GPU: 2060 6GB Display 144hz CPU: i7 10750H RAM: 32GB SSD: GB I was originally thinking getting the one for 1700 and then upgrade ram n ssd later when i have cash. I currently have a dell 2in1 16gb and memory is practically peg at 80-85%. This would be my first gaming laptop and i have never experience any high refresh rate monitor. I know the 2060 cant hit 144 at 1080 high in modern titles much less for 240, but is it worth sacrificing the 240 now to get the memory n storage upgrade or should i get the 240 n upgrade memory n storage later on? Thanks for the assist
