  1. If case manufacturers made cases that came with 1 or 2 SSDs included, would that stop people from buying HDDs Not until they're much much closer in terms of dollar per meg, and also in overall capacity. There are a lot of people who require large amounts of storage, and SSD is simply not the best option for them at this time.
  2. I can't do that, sadly, as I have to replace something that died now.
  3. Just for reference, most decent PSUs come with a 10 year warranty now, including the corsair range. You will be absolutely fine to move this into your new system. The worst case is that it dies one day, and you have to ring around to local PC stores to find a new PSU. Chances of that are really slim; not much higher than the chance of a brand new PSU going belly up. In which case you'd have to deal with warranty RMA, and your PC would be down for more than just a few hours.
  4. I love them too. My current case is a Fractal Define R5 and it is positively *glorious*. Sleek, black and unassuming. It sits (very!!) quietly under my desk and no-one would notice it's there. It's also fabulous to work with. Building this PC was a complete pleasure. It's got awesome noise suppression, and I literally cannot hear the difference when I switch it on or off. I've never had a PC that quiet before. Build quality is also very high. Internally, there's plenty of space for everything you might want to load into it. Good luck on your project!
  5. TL:DR: My current PC has a Fractal Define R5 which I love. My *primary* consideration is quietness. Should I get another R5 for my new build, or the Define R6? Or is there another case that's ever better for noise suppression now, like the BeQuiet 801? For the PSU, should I go with a Corsair RMx, a Seasonic Focus Plus or a Fractal Design Ion+? Hey there! So I in 2014 I built myself rig that was *really* quiet, and I have been really really thrilled with it. But now it's 6 years later and I feel the upgrade itch growing... I use my PC for a little gaming, a little coding, running up the occasional VMware test lab, digital image and film editing, etc. I intend to have an SSD system drive and 2 HDD storage drives, and will be getting a GTX 1660 super graphics card. I am not above replacing stock fans, either, but the fractal fans where fundamentally silent, so I didn't feel the need last time around. I have been looking at the Fractal Define R6 reviews, and threads in various forums, and youtube videos... It seems that there are a bunch of people suggesting that if silence is my primary focus, then I should get a Define R5, and not the newer R6. It's hard for me to believe. And then there are contrary opinions too. Since I started looking the Be Quiet 801 has popped out as a definite possibility. You seem to be the person at the silent pc specialists who might really know. Which case is better for sound dampening? Is it the Define R5, the Define R6, or has someone come along and created something to steal their thunder? (I hope you see what I did there. ;-} ) With the PSU, I think I've narrowed it down to the Corsair RMx, the Seasonic Focus Plus Platinum or the Fractal Design Ion+. I know most people say just get the Corsair and you can't go wrong, but it's only Gold Rated, and the other two are both Platinum. I am almost certainly only ever going to running a load so low that they shouldn't need to spin up a fan, but I am not certain how effective the passive modes of the seasonic or FD models are... Can someone Hope you have a fabulous day! Cheers! Nufffi
