PC LOAD LETTER's Achievements

  1. What were you telling people 4 months ago, can they go ahead and purchase now, or do they wait another 4 months?
  2. "new stuff" is released everyday. You tell someone to wait 4 months for "new stuff" you think you could be less cryptic? Is the deal the only goal or do you want a computer to enjoy?
  3. Life is short. I wouldn't wait based on potentialities, or cheaper flagships or you will never get anything. If there was something specific verified to be coming out in the next three months then OK wait, but otherwise just go ahead and enjoy yourself.
  4. Buy now unless you are certain there is something specific you want that is coming out in a few months. There are always new products coming down the pipe, so don't stress it.
  5. SabianSVK has it right, seal the whole system off from atmospheric air. Essentially running the device in a freezer.
  6. Realistically, what are you repairing? Out of the literal millions of discrete parts in an iPhone or computer, how many of those are you able to repair now? Seems to me you aren't even repairing the screens, rather you're replacing a component being purchased from the OEM. You are fighting for the right to purchase more components, not to fix anything. The chicken and egg argument is at least compelling. If someone takes away your soldering iron OK then you complain.
  7. Yes it just occurred to me that I have offended basically 85% of you.
  8. I agree that while a raspberry is a bit of a gray area, if someone kitted it out with linux it would fit the definition of a desktop. Sure it's slow but that doesn't matter as it is certainly faster than the original desktops. To be fair to Apple, a Windows PC does not feel like my PC anymore. They took MS paint off of my laptop this morning and added a game called Hidden City. I am aware of the new 3D paint but that is besides the point.
  9. If you can access the offending coil and don't mind a bit of DIY you can pot it with wax or epoxy, at your own risk of course. Otherwise just swap out the offending part. (PSU, GPU etc.)
  10. Smaller fans make more noise, that is typically the point in using this design vs a squirrel cage blower.
