  1. So, I've got all my parts, I'm building my pc in a few days, and the fans on my case have a weird connector that I haven't seen before. What is it? What do I connect it to?
  2. I am going to be using a Ryzen 3 3100 with a second hand rtx 2060. I have found a bequiet system power 9 on sale, which looks like a much better option but thanks everyone for the replies.
  3. Will this psu blow up my pc? I'm asking cos its a pretty cheap psu, and not a famous brand. Right now, my only best choice is the Ryzen 3 3100, as, in England anyway, the 1600af costs like £150, and so does the Ryzen 3 3300X. However, I am trying to decide whether to use the Ryzen 3 3100 or to wait for a zen 3 Ryzen 3. I watched the Zen 3 event and it looks like any Zen 3 processor is going to significantly outperform its last gen equivalent, but how long will it be until the low end CPUs come out, because the 3100 only came out a few months ago? Any suggestions/ideas?
  5. If your looking to upgrade to a 2080 super, I would say keep the 3600. For RAM, as long as they are from a reputable brand, it doesn't really matter. You can basically just go on PcPartPicker, chose the specs you want and sort by lowest price and check reviews to make sure they work. Right now the cheapest is a pair of T-Force Vulcan Z, but this changes quite a lot. One thing I would say though, is that if you have a window in your case, you might want to spend a bit more on ram that either looks nice or kind of blends in, because T-Force doesn't really do that . Now Motherboards. So you can definitely go one upgrade without having to change your CPU, so I wouldn't worry about getting a motherboard that's too overspec, in terms of power delivery and stuff, but it shouldn't really be exactly the CPU's TDP. On Pc Part Picker there are lots of specs you can use to filter, (although there isn't anything about max cpu tdp or how many fan headers it's got, but you can find these out manually with a quick google search). Again, check reviews, Pc Part Picker hasn't got a huge amount of reviews, so it's a good idea to see reviews from other websites. The power supply is something you'd probably need to upgrade when you upgrade your graphics card anyway, so there's not much point getting one that's above what you need for your system now, but not good enough for when you upgrade. So I would recommend anything in the 80+ Bronze range, around 500W (if you only check review for one thing, let it be the psu). That should cost around £35/45.
  6. You should definitely be able to fit a better Graphics Card than a 1650 super for that budget, and a 3600 is a bit overkill for a low end graphics card like that. I would recommend an rtx 2060, with a slightly worse CPU, maybe a 2600 or something. Or even the Ryzen 3 3100. Though there's not much point in the 3300X as it costs about the same, and sometimes more, than the 2600 in the UK. If you really want that 3600, you should still be able to afford it by swapping out the other components. You should be able to get a motherboard with 4 DIMMs for around £60, same with the RAM, I don't think 3733mhz is gonna make a difference over 3600 or even 3200 but if someone more knowledgeable than me feels the need to correct me, go ahead. You do not need that much m.2 capacity, 512gb should be enough if you really have a lot of programs that need high speed storage, that would cost around £50/£60.
  7. Budget (including currency): £700, including monitor Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, some unity/blender/unreal Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): not really relevant for my question lol So, I'm planning my first pc build in the next couple of months (i'm waiting for next-gen Ryzen and next-gen Nvidia so prices go down on current hardware) and I basically have no idea how much tools you need. I know I'll need some cable ties (*cough* *cough* lttstore.com *cough* *cough*) and some anti-static stuff but how many different screw bits are needed throughout a Pc build? I was looking at getting an IFixIt Kit, but I don't really want to spend that money if I only need one or two bits.
  8. @GOTSpectrum thanks for the advice, unfortunately my copy is on the windows store rather than steam, but if the file size really is that low I might try downloading it anyway
  9. So, I have the 'Xbox Game Pass for PC' and one of the games included with it is the Halo Master Chief. I finished a game, and decided that for my next game I wanted to play Halo Reach, so I went onto the Microsoft store, and pressed download. However, at this point I realized that 'Halo Reach' on the MS Store is technically just a DLC for the MCC. This is fine for me as with the Game Pass I have access to the MCC. However, this means, as far as I know, that I would have to download the MCC collection, then go into it's settings, and effectively delete the other Halo Games. I only know this from downloading the game on my Xbox, there is a section in settings called custom installation. Only problem is, Halo MCC takes up around 100 gigs of space, and I don't have that space. (I only have 128gb on my potato laptop's hard drive). Is there any other way of just downloading Halo Reach? If necessary, I would consider less legal means. NB: I haven't actually seen MCC on pc, so the Custom Installation setting might not even be there
  10. I don't think you need a 3600 for a 1660. A 1600AF (if you can get it) or one of those new ryzen 3's would be fine. However, you should be able to get something like a 2060 for a £1000
  11. @SupaKomputa The original message was pretty unclear, I don't have a 2600 yet. What I do have is some parts lists with the 2600 in it, but i'm looking to get the price down.
  12. So, I'm gathering up a parts list for my first custom pc. I have about £700 to spend on both a PC and a Monitor, and (with many different tries on pc part picker) I've just managed to fit in a 2nd hand RTX 2060, currently with a Ryzen 5 2600 (which costs about £120-130) as 1600 AF prices have gone up, they currently cost about £130. However, I would certainly be able to fit my budget if I went for an £80/£90 CPU, such as a 3100. However, my immediate thought was that this would bottleneck the 2060. Is this correct? If so, How bad would the bottleneck be?
