  1. Firstly I apologize if this is in the wrong section of the forums, but I'm posting here because I was getting OCCT errors. I've recently built a new rig, like literally 4 days ago. Specs are: GPU: RTX 4070 CPU: Ryzen 7 7700x CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken Z73 RAM: G.Skill Trident Neo 32GB 6000MHz 2x16 MOBO: ASUS B650-E F Gaming Wifi CASE: NZXT H9 Flow SSDs: 2TB Samsung 980 PRO w/Heatsink, 250GB Samsung 960 Evo HDD: some 2tb toshiba hdd PSU: Corsair RM850x To add a few things, I'm normally running with Eco Mode enabled in the BIOS, with EXPO Profile 1. The only other thing I've changed is fan curves. That is it. I also transferred my C: drive from an old rig with different hardware(2060 super, 3600x, b450 tomahawk, 32gb 3200 mhz corsair ram 4x8 running at 3000 mhz). I did not reinstall windows as it was running fine without it. I'm aware it may be an issue here, but I'm waiting in case anyone possibly has other solutions. Today, I crashed randomly while playing Overwatch 2. The BSOD was KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Unfortunately, I don't remember what driver/file was at fault and it also didn't create a dmp or log file of any kind, which I don't really understand why, but it sucks. Immediately I'm sorta panicking because it's a brand new build that I spent a lot of money on, and I kinda hate computer problems. So I try to do a CPU Large OCCT test, and, literally not even a half second in, PC locks up, and crashes. CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT is the error code. I tried without Eco Mode, same error. I tried without EXPO, same error, although it ran a little longer before crashing. I tried a couple more times with previous settings enabled just to see if it were some sort of fluke, but to no luck. It consistently crashes upon trying to do OCCT. I also tried Cinebench R23, but it was only for like 30 seconds before I stopped the run because it ran fine before and it didn't crash within that timeframe, so, yeah. Before when I'd run Cinebench with these settings, I'd run the default 10 min test with a score of 18778 or something like that. I haven't experienced any other errors yet, but I'm hesitant to try different games or another test. I'm kind of in a predicament here because I spent a lot of money on this rig and it's pretty new. Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Things I've tried: - Running OCCT without EXPO and/or Eco Mode(instant BSOD) - Cinebench(ran fine) - Clean boot into Windows and running OCCT(instant BSOD) - Windows Memory Diagnostic (no errors) Things I've considered but haven't tried yet: - Clearing CMOS or resetting BIOS settings and running OCCT - Reseating RAM - Reseating CPU - Messing with voltages(I don't really know how to do this in my BIOS which is why I haven't done it) - Fresh install of Windows (Last resort) If anyone knows anything, please help me out. I'm 99% sure it's a software issue and not a hardware issue, but I guess I can't be fully sure. I appreciate any guidance/advice any of you can give me. 2. It's definitely possible that the AC messed with power draw from the PSU, considering that GAMEMAX PSUs don't exactly have the greatest reputation from what I've seen. But, I also have never had the AC just on, so it'd turn on and off randomly throughout the day. I'd always manually turn it on for 30 min, then turn it off. Though I'm sure that doesn't really matter in this case, if the AC is truly what caused these issues. Unfortunately, there's not really a spare power supply I can try at the moment, unless I buy a new one which I don't exactly want to do if I don't know for sure... However I think I can try and borrow a friend's GPU to test it in my system to see if I am having the same issues. I don't **think** I'm having temperature issues but I'll definitely keep an eye on it, but so far, no abnormalities
  3. Bear with me, it's a long explanation. I've had a peculiar problem with my computer for a little while now, but now I'm totally lost and I'm looking to multiple forums for a solution. Recently, I had a window AC unit installed in my room, which has my computer in it. Ever since then, my computer crashes seemingly for no reason with certain games, even when the AC is unplugged. Most notably, the games being FF14 and CSGO. At first, I was thinking a possible power issue, but my PC is plugged into a surge protector, so I was thinking it would block any power spikes to prevent damage. I'm not an electrician however so please correct me if I'm wrong. This issue could be entirely separate and coincidental concerning the AC unit, but I figured I would mention it because it happened in the same time frame. Another thing to mention, I did have the AC unit plugged in the surge protector with my PC, however after noticing the issues, I moved it to a different outlet in a different room with an extension cord. It still crashes. The most I ever have the AC unit running for is 30 minutes, and never whilst doing anything heavy on the PC. Again, it's possible it's totally unrelated, but I want to give as much information as I can. Step-by-step, this is what happens: Open CSGO, queue for match warmup ensues, everything is fine USUALLY first or second round it slows down a bunch, playing a bunch of distorted sounds until it either freezes or crashes, sometimes with no BSOD. When it does BSOD, the error is VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR Oddly enough, it won't do it again for the entire day. It crashes once, but then not again for the entire day. - The same thing happens in FF14. I haven't tested any other game but I doubt the outcome will be any different. This is what happened for about a week before writing this, so, doing some basic troubleshooting I used DDU to cleanly reinstall drivers thinking that was the issue. However, that didn't fix anything. After doing that, it crashed watching a simple youtube video, no BSOD, but Event Viewer indicates it was a BSOD with error 0x00000116, or VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. But it hasn't done that since. Very weird. Here's a DMP of the most recent crash, a VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR crash: link Here's a screenshot I took just today of CSGO after experiencing that slowdown and trying to alt tab out and back into it: Imgur It looks like unloaded textures to me, but I'm not totally sure. I figured I should post that here though. Shortly after this happened, I tried to close CSGO with task manager, and my PC froze. So now we're here. Things I've tried: sfc /scannow in cmd (didn't find anything) chkdsk (didn't find anything) DISM (didn't work) Reinstalling CSGO (didn't do anything) DDU (mentioned earlier) Cleaned out PC, reseated GPU and RAM - I thought this worked because I didn't have issues for a bit, but was unfortunately met with a crash today Updated BIOS and Chipset Drivers Other things I can possibly try (in no particular order): DDU again, different driver ver. Changing power settings in windows or NVIDIA control panel For a last resort, replacing hardware Anything you guys can think of down below Specs: GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super (MSI model) CPU: Ryzen 5 3600x Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Motherboard: B450 Tomahawk BIOS ver.: 7C02v1I1 RAM: 16GB 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance HDD: 2TB Toshiba DT01ACA200 SSD: 250GB Samsung 960 EVO (my C: drive) PSU: 850W Gold Certified GAMEMAX PSU Case: MSI Gungnir 100 Thank you for taking the time and having the patience to read this all, I know it's a lot. I just don't really know where to turn to.
  4. Switched from "optimal power" (factory default) to "prefer maximum performance." Things seem to be more consistent. Looking back on the video, I don't know what was up with the MS Compatibility, but as of monitoring it now, it's fine? Weird. As for holding the screen still, I was trying to "shake it" to showcase how it draws like 10% of 3D power when scrolling but in hindsight, kinda hard to see visually. Sorry lol. Games seem to run fine. I was mainly concerned because I'm not used to the sporadic spikes and such, so I made this thread asking if it was normal. It shouldn't be, I ordered it directly from Amazon under the official MSI vendor. Plus, I did RMA the previous card (which was from ZOTAC) also under the official vendor. Thanks to the replies, I've ascertained that this is likely normal. Thanks for the help!
  5. I've had this problem ever since I've installed this GPU. I upgraded from a 1060 (3GB) to an RTX 2060 Super. Compared to the other card, the GPU usage as seen in multiple hardware monitoring programs (GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, HWMonitor, Task Manager) is a lot more erratic and demanding. For example, scrolling left and right on task manager when nothing is open boosts GPU usage from 0%-10% and around there. NVIDIA Shadowplay takes up an erratic 8%-40% when recording, watching a Twitch stream takes up an extra 30%, also fluctuating. My GTX 1060 could handle Shadowplay just fine, at a consistent 10% always. Games and other similar demanding apps seem to run fine, but I feel like they should run a lot better given the power difference between the two cards. Without this underlying issue, it would likely be better. Video showcasing the erratic usage: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpj_O-uOvN4 I need some insight whether or not this is really normal. Things I've tried: Re-installing Windows DDU Drivers (I'm on the latest, as of 7/10/2020) RMA GPU (used ZOTAC before, switched to an MSI) I'm at a loss for ideas. Specs if needed: Ryzen 5 3600x (NO MANUAL OC) Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB MSI RTX 2060 Super VENTUS MSI B450 Tomahawk 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz (dual channel) 2 TB TOSHIBA 7200 RPM HDD 256 GB Samsung 960 EVO SSD M.2 750w GAMEMAX Gold certified PSU MSI Gungnir 100 Case (4 case fans pre-installed, 3 manually added)
  6. I'm having the same issue. DWM and NVIDIA Container are eating up my GPU a bunch, and I've been searching for a fix for a month now. Any solutions?
