  1. This is a screenshot of my task manager. It's clear chrome is leaking memory as I only have 4 tabs open and it's using 472MB. Do you think this kind of memory usage is way to high for idle desktop though?
  2. Interestingly, I have been, and have observed temperatures in the 80s. Would there be a way to observe thermal throttling outside of AIDA64?
  3. Hi everyone! I recently upgraded to an RX-580. In the first few days performance was great, matching what was expected from my system. But suddenly, as if something had been switched off or whatever, I was getting pretty average performance in games such as GTA V and Just Cause 3. In my first steps of troubleshooting, I monitored my GPU and CPU usage while playing these games, and found CPU usage pinned at around 97-100% while GPU usage only hovering around 60-70% in most cases. This was something that just wasn't happening before, even with the exact same system config. I've tried stress testing with AIDA64, and after a good 20-30 minutes observed no thermal throttling, but also ran a benchmark using the userbenchmark suite, where it reported that my CPU is quite significantly underperforming when compared to other identical chips. I've tried restoring optimised defaults in my BIOS, and am considering updating to the BETA BIOS of my motherboard, seen in the screenshot below. What should I do? Thanks in advance for any help! P.S. I'm running version P2.40 of my MB BIOS System as follows: CPU i5 4670 Motherboard ASRock H87 Performance RAM 8gb 1600mhz G-Skill Ripjaw GPU ASUS RX580 4GB DUAL Case Coolermaster N600 Storage 2x 250gb Samsung SSD in RAID 0, 1tb Seagate Barrucuda PSU Corsair CS750M
  4. Hey Guys! I recently completely a mini-itx build where the primary purpose of it was to be a pc for office-related tasks and web browsing for my mum. My father showed interest in adding in a gpu later, and since it has now been built, I'm looking for suggestions between the gtx 950 or the r7 370. Suggestions for any other card would be great too. Thanks.
  5. Normally, like Snadzies said, GPU companies factor in the worst case scenario, and even add on top of that. You should definitely be fine.
  6. Well, it comes down to NVIDIA or AMD. If you prefer nvidia (or just less heat and better power comsumption) go with a 960. If you like AMD, go with the 280x.
  7. The problem you are having is most likely associated with the ROUTER component. If you buy a new router you can connect it to your router/modern combo unit by ethernet and setup in a way so your modern/router acts as JUST a router.
  8. Thanks for responding guys, my friend managed to fix it somehow, for now. I'll keep you posted. IAMSWIFT1: Windows 8.1
  9. Not interested in helping someone with pirated copies of windows, sorry.
  10. Do you have a Modern/Router combo unit from your ISP? If so, it may just be failing, it happened to me. I ended up getting a netgear Nighthawk and a new Wifi Adapter (my computer doesn't have a wifi card) and my internet troubles were over.
  11. Is your adapter sometimes just losing connection to wifi? Be more specific please.
  12. Hi everyone! Really desperate here as me and my friend have been troubleshooting for ages and we still haven't fixed it. The issue is, when my friend tries to turn his computer on, it posts but when it reaches windows, his monitor goes black and it says no signal. When he has been able to boot into windows (randomly and by chance) I couldn't get to event viewer to see what happened in time. It is really finicky and sometimes works for ages, but lately has gotten REALLY bad. I am pretty sure it is the GPU, but I cannot test this theory because his computer has no integrated graphics. I could try putting my gpu into his computer and see what happens though. NOTE: The issue actually fixed itself one, the culprit being skype trying to update. We are not sure if this is the case again. NOTE: I have not managed to run a memtest or windows memory test. This may also be the case Things Troubleshooted: GPU Driver settings Uninstalling GeForce Experience Looking (skimming) through dxdiag and msinfo (I will attach for someone more experience to look at) Making sure GPU plugged in correctly (but no word if it gets unsecured) Making sure Boot Devices are set properly Verifying system files (when it was working kinda ok) Resetting CMOS (MOBO had a button on the back for it) Symptoms: Computer Posting but not loading into windows 98% of the time Randomly successfully boots to desktop every 20 or so restarts GPU may be culprit When starting up sometimes gets Blue Screen with the [MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION] error\ This is pretty urgent, and it would be greatly appreciated if someone could help. If you need any more info, I will try and provide it. Thanks, cobie msinfo32 (export).txt DxDiag (1).txt
  13. It may be a pre-installed program on your computer from your pcs manufacturer. Not sure though.
  14. You think Norton has bad false-positives? Interesting. Any personal experience with that?
