  1. Do you have any tips on buying used parts? For instance, is there a store that refurbishes and does quality control or is there a website you have had good luck with? I'd just hate to end up with something that someone abused and that no longer operates well.
  2. Crud, my RAM can't even be reused? Is RAM motherboard platform specific or something? Do you think brand new 2020 components will last longer i.e. is the technology beginning to plateau or improve at a slower rate? How often to you feel like you need to upgrade to be able to continue playing modern games? Also, what would determine if I could not keep using my power supply, it is a 1,000 watt, so I thought it should definitely still be fine to use.
  3. Okay, and am I correct in assuming I have to get a new motherboard if I upgrade my CPU?
  4. Do you think there is an older card I could upgrade to that could enable me play new games still, without being a serious bottle neck? If so which card and where would one find previous gen cards? I assume I'd have to go with a used component. If I did upgrade my CPU and motherboard, would I need to refresh windows or can I just boot up with the new components installed? Any advice on what do so with my old components? Is there a market for old components online somewhere?
  5. I'd like some upgrade advice. I built my first system in 2010 and have never upgraded. I am hoping to be able to upgrade one or two components to be able to play newer games like Borderlands 3 and Division 2; I'd like to avoid needing to upgrade the motherboard if possible. Here is the current build: • AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Quad-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM3 • ASRock 890FX DELUXE3 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard • SilverStone ST1000-P 1000W ATX 12V v2.3 & EPS 12V 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply • CORSAIR DOMINATOR 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) • Radeon HD 5870 I don’t think there is a worthwhile CPU upgrade that I could make without also upgrading the motherboard due to the AM3 socket, so I’d like to avoid upgrading it. I want to upgrade to a newer nvidia gpu, but don’t want to run into a bottleneck. Think my machine could run alright with a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super without upgrading the CPU and Motherboard? Will I need to refresh windows after a gpu upgrade?
