  1. Unfortunately I have to copy from the SD card each time to fight file corruption. If a file was corrupted while transferring to drive 1 and then I copied that file onto drives 2 and 3 the file would be corrupted on all three drives. But if I copy fresh from the SD card each time that risk is lessened. How does Robocopy work and where can I find it? My files are usually between 350MB and 3GB per file. And I’m shooting about 150GB at most on one card.
  2. I’ve been having some annoyances with USB transfer speeds and bottlenecks. I’m a videographer and every time I have to offload and backup my footage it’s a pain. I always backup to 3 drives but I feel like I’m constantly running into bottlenecks. My SD cards max out at 250MB/s, my card reader is USB 3.2 gen 2x2 plugged into a correlating port, drive 1 is an internal NVME, drive 2 is an external SanDisk Extreme Pro, and drive 3 is my NAS which is connected via 1 gig Ethernet (that’s a bottleneck I’m aware of). when backing up files I will transfer from the SD card to all 3 drives simultaneously. In my mind that should mean that I’m getting around 250MB/s on drives 1 and 2, and around 100MB/s on drive 3. However, I usually get about 65 to 100MB/s on all three drives. Is there a reason the speed is so bottlenecked? And is there anything I can do to solve it?
  3. Sadly no. Because it's going to be on the side of a camera it has to be as slim as possible and I think that one would just be a bit too bulky.
  4. I need a 40cm cable with a 270° angled connector at one end and a straight connector at the other.
  5. I'm looking for a business that can produce one off custom HDMI cables. I need a few super specific HDMI cables for my camera rig and it's basically impossible to find exactly what I'm looking for on Amazon.
  6. Anything I can do about it? Fresh Windows install? Or is it time for a new laptop?
  7. I’m hitting 100% CPU usage and about 12GB of memory. GPU is chilling at like 10%
  8. My wife got a Dell XPS 13 9380 at the beginning of 2020 to do photo editing, almost exclusively in Lightroom. In 2022 she went from Windows 10 to 11. Over the last year-ish its really started slowing down though. It takes like 2-3 full seconds to switch from one photo to the next inside Lightroom, which is borderline unusable. Is there anything I can do to speed this thing up?
  9. I installed a new font today that has 4 styles: Regular, Italic, Bold, Bold Italic. When I install the fonts I am only able to access 2 of them. If I go to the Fonts folder in my C drive only 2 of the fonts show up. If I select that font family and delete it, the other 2 fonts will take its place. However, if I go to Windows settings, navigate to fonts, and select the font I just installed it says that I have all 4 styles installed. This is the first time I've ever had anything like this happen. Please help!
  10. Everything is in the same room, so distance isn't the problem. It's more that I wanted to each PC to only have a single cable for NAS connection and internet. I also wanted the ability to connect more than 2 PCs at one time (Synology only offers 10Gb cards with up to 2 ports), hence the switch.
  11. What kind of cooling issues would I run into with that solution? Would it be better to kit out all my PCs and the NAS with 10Gbps SFP+ cards instead of RJ45 ones?
  12. 5 ports would be ideal but I'm pretty open to whatever is available.
  13. Hoping for something under $300 but I kinda just want to know what's out there. And I need RJ45 ports.
  14. I'm looking for a small 10Gb switch for my home office. I'd like to upgrade my PCs and NAS to 10Gb in order to start video editing off of the NAS and the one piece I haven't been able to find is a small switch that supports 10Gb.
  15. I'm in the process of assembling a 4K editing rig parts list and wondering if I should go for the new 3070 or 3080. I previously had planned to get the 2070 Super for about $700 but once the 3000 series was announced I put the 2070 behind me. The goal for this rig will be to easily edit and render 4K video, mainly inside the Adobe Suite.
  16. What's the advantage of the B550 over the one I had listed?
  17. I put this list together based off some of your recommendations and a couple build videos. What do the people think? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/thatdiabeticguy/saved/NqVsXL
  18. Is there something cheaper than the 2070 Super you recommended that will still get the job done?
  19. Hey everyone! I am a freelance videographer and am in need of a serious PC upgrade. I built my current machine back in 2013 and it hasn't received too much of an upgrade since. I can edit 1080p footage just fine but 4K is basically out of the picture. I can't even scrub though a single file in Premiere Pro without it lagging and skipping frames. I'd love some help putting together the best editing focused rig possible. Here's what I'm looking for: OS - Windows 10 CPU - Probably AMD (just whatever is going to give me the best performance) RAM - 32GB minimum GPU - I own a GTX 1060 but I assume I'll need something better Boot Drive - NVME Case - NZXT H500 - 2 USB-C 10Gbps ports if possible - WiFi and Bluetooth if possible (not a necessity) - Fast file transfers and fast Premiere Pro timeline performance are the two biggest goals for this PC. I'm constantly moving large amounts of footage between hard drives and on/off my NAS so I need those fast transfers. And obviously I spend most of my time editing so I need Premiere to handle 4K workflows like a champ. I would love to build something for around $1,000 but I also want this to rig to last me awhile and be good at it's job so I'm okay going higher if needed. Budget (including currency): Under $2,000 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Editing 1080p and 4K footage primarily in the Adobe Suite. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I plan to use the NZXT H500 case
