samuel29781 reacted to Denniz in New Mobo, old GPU quick question
It will work! You just move the card from the old mobo to the new mobo and install the drivers!

You got a new mobo and cpu and ram i suppose. Install GPU like in the old board and install drivers after installing windows.

samuel29781 reacted to Dragamesh in Pc noob building a Pc
Budget (including currency): $1260ish
Country: United States
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (Ark Survival, Destiny 2, CoD,numerous jrgps etc...) and General use.
Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Need some advice on a good budget keyboard and mouse
Like the title I'm a pc noob building his first pc. Just wanted to get some opinions on how the build looks. I also need some advice on a good budget keyboard and mouse. Thanks in advance!

samuel29781 reacted to TetraSky in Is it ok for cables to touch the back of the motherboard?
It's perfectly fine to do like fasauceome said.
But I wouldn't personally recommend it, because if something goes wrong with the PSU and you need to change it, suddenly what should've been an easy swap becomes a much bigger and annoying job. Not to mention, that whether you pass it behind the motherboard or behind the tray, you wouldn't be seeing it anyway so why make future you's life a potential nightmare?
That is of course if it isn't just a removable extension cable, in which case, who cares, go for it.

you dont delete solved posts, you mark the answer you find most helpful as Solved (the tick under the reply) and let it be open for future visitors who have the same question

samuel29781 reacted to Tautedorus in is this normal on a psu?
The 24 pin ATX connector looks the same an all modern PSUs, nothing to worry about here. But if your PSU is poor quality, that's another problem.

Yes, this is normal. It was meant for a now deprecated -5V rail wire.

I wouldn't anticipate you having a problem running at 3000MHz.

samuel29781 got a reaction from Slayerking92 in Very dumb dumb ram question
I bought 2 rams of 8gb separated, theyre are exactly the same. I intend to use in dual channel but in the box says single channel kit.
It will work right guys

Well if the single kit has a single stick in it
It will say single channel because well
It is if it was used alone.

samuel29781 reacted to SkilledRebuilds in 240GB SATA 3 SSD enough for OS?
Warzone alone is 100GB, the total package is 186GB (installed) at the moment.
But the launcher makes it easy to scan a copied folder elsewhere to migrate it.
It also runs without stuttering from a USB3.0 2.5" 120MB/s drive too 😛
OP - Id use it for Windows + Shadowplay (200GB to play with) and Games on another drive.

samuel29781 reacted to Mateyyy in 240GB SATA 3 SSD enough for OS?
If you were planning on installing Windows onto the HDD then I'd say you made quite a fortunate mistake, as Windows on a mechanical hard drive in this day and age is literal pain.
240GB should be enough for Windows and a couple games (depending on how large they are), along with other apps you'll be installing.

samuel29781 reacted to Tristerin in 240GB SATA 3 SSD enough for OS?
Plenty, I just got a 256gb SSD in for a Win 10 boot drive and Warzone, I think theres 80-100 gigs left? Warzone is around 100gb?

samuel29781 reacted to BigDamn in 240GB SATA 3 SSD enough for OS?
Since you're only using a single drive, either option is a mistake. Your primary storage medium should be no less than 500gb (since you intend to install games), as now you will likely need to uninstall and reinstall games whenever you want to play them. Also, as you near your storage capacity on a SSD you will lose some performance, though it's not too noticeable.
As for the HDD, just no. Having an OS on a HDD in 2020 isn't practical and will make high-end rigs feel like dinosaurs. In my opinion, you should order the HDD for games/media and keep the SSD for your OS. If you could do it over, I'd suggest buying a SSD between 500gb-1tb, as they're not that expensive these days and give you far more storage freedom and performance.
