  2. Hi, I have a question on high cpu usage on my computer. Windows process called: System, is constantly using around 13% cpu (photo below), and when I have nothing opened even 20%. I know I don't have a virus, because that usage even happened when I did a clean install of windows and installed nothing. Also on other computers where I checked that doesn't happen. I hope this is the right thread for this question. Thanks for any answers. Sorry for mistakes in writing, English is not my first language. Specs: Asus k550jx Processor: Intel core i7-4720hq ssd: samsung 860 evo ram: 12gb ddr3 gpu: intel hd 4600 and nvidia gtx 950m OS: Windows 10 Pro EDIT: I have just noticed that the process in System that is using cpu is called: ntoskrnl.exe
  3. Hi, I need some help with choosing a monitor. To this day, I have a laptop with no external monitor, so I want/need one. I will use the monitor for: Programming, Occasionally gaming on xbox one x, and home use. I have some requirements, the monitor must meet: 1440p IPS panel around 27'' from Amazon.de for around 350€-400€ 2 hdmi ports (I don't have a DP device) Do you think, monitors are going to be cheaper on Prime day? Thanks
  4. Hi, first of all I hope I am in the right page/forum for this. So I have a problem, that a lot of times during the day I noticed some glitching/almost crashing and lagging on Windows 10. Also I encountered this glitch (picture below). It all started yesterday, could it be an update to windows, becouse in recent days, I have installed quite some of them, or something else. Today I also encountered some of these "glitches" on chrome, when it completely froze for couple of seconds (that never happened before). Also I am thinking about buying a 1440p monitor for work (programming) and also home stuff (home use and limited gaming), but I hope there wouldn't be any lagging because of this. My laptop is around 5 years old. Also I kinda know a 1440p monitor would work, because I tried one at my boss already. So to the general problem, can anyone help me please? My laptop specs are below. Thanks Sorry for my bad English, it is not my first language. Specs: CPU: Intel core i7-4720hq RAM: 12GB 1600MHz - 2GB for the GPU SSD: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO GPE0: Intel HD4600 GPE1: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950m Laptop model: Asus K550JX Some parts were upgraded, those include: RAM - from 8GB to 12GB; SSD from HDD
  5. Hi, I need some help. Recently I posted here about VM's, because they were running slow. I got a reply, that I had to install Virtual Box additions, and I did and performance improved significantly. But still I have a major problem. Everything from loading programs and dragging apps with a mouse is lagging a lot. Also CPU gets to 100% immediately, so I think the VM is running fully on a CPU and not a GPU. I know VM's have limited graphic performance, but still, those are basic tasks. I am running a Windows 7 guest and my host os is Windows 10 Pro. I assigned the VM 4CPU cores and 5GB RAM, also it's running on an external ssd. The use case for my VM is to run old games, like almost 20yr old games (c&c generals, Red alert, etc.). I will put my laptop specs down below. I hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks. I am sorry for my bad grammar and choice of words, English is not my first language. Laptop specs: CPU: Intel core i7-4720hq RAM: 12GB 1600MHz - 2GB for the GPU SSD: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO VM - SSD: 240GB empty Kingston ssd 2.5inch with a usb hard drive enclousure GPE0: Intel HD4600 GPE1: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950m Laptop model: Asus K550JX Some parts were upgraded, those include: RAM - from 8GB to 12GB; SSD from HDD
  6. Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. But still, do you think that games that are 20+ years old would work smoothly?
  7. Hi, so I have a problem. Basically the whole story is, that I want to make a VM with Windows 7, so I can run some old games (those include: C&C Generals, Red Alert, Age of Empires, etc.). I know I could download some patches and files that could make those games run on Windows 10 Pro, which is my OS, but that would include some pretty sketchy websites and a great possibility of getting a virus. I also know I have an option, that I could make my computer/laptop dual boot with both OS-'s, which I don't want to make, beacause I would need to do that on my personal computer for work and everything else, so my only option besides getting a new pc just for that is making a VM. Firstly I tried downloading Oracle VirtualBox, then Microsoft Hyper-V and last the VMware Workstation player 16. I made sure that I gave all VM's enough RAM and CPU cores and also an external SSD for storage. After installation every VM was already lagging at 800x600 even the cursor moving was not smooth, not even close. Everything was feeling like the graphics were running on a CPU itself not even on an integrated gpu my cpu has (specs for my laptop are mentioned at the bottom*), but in Windows 7 it showed the CPU and RAM weren't used a lot (CPU at about 7-10% and RAM at something about 20%-30% as I didn't assign it so much memory). Also when I tried going 1920p on vmware it froze my whole computer. I am asking for help or some articles about resolving this issue. Thanks. To the people who are reading this, I am sorry for my grammar or the wrong word choice for some words, English is not my first language. *My specs* CPU: Intel core i7-4720hq RAM: 12GB 1600MHz - 2GB for the GPU SSD: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO VM - SSD: 240GB empty Kingston ssd 2.5inch with a usb hard drive enclousure GPE0: Intel HD4600 GPE1: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950m Laptop model: Asus K550JX Some parts were upgraded, those include: RAM - from 8GB to 12GB; SSD from HDD
