Looking for a HBA (host bus adapter) to put in a server
Toby waiting replied to Toby waiting's topic in Troubleshooting
thanks for the advice I look into it -
Hi I have recently purchased an old Dell server it's nothing special, but I was looking to install unraid on it and run a simple file server. as it comes with a raid card I was looking to buy and install an HBA in the PCI E slot I have been doing some research trying to work out what I need to get the requirements are: it must have 2 internal mini SAS drive connectors be relatively low cost. I was looking at this product https://gbr.grandado.com/products/raidstorage-avago-lsi-sas-3081e-r-lsisas1068e-b3-8-port-hba-jbod-sff8087-minisas-3gb-pci-e-x8-controller-card?variant=UHJvZHVjdFZhcmlhbnQ6MjMxNzk3MDY however I'm not sure if it is the right thing to get it is only a Dell PowerEdge 2950 I bought it used on eBay I was going to install the card in the expansion slot instead of where the raid card goes If things went to plan, I was going to use the raid card I previously linked with this cable https://www.google.com/shopping/product/7975704855197032167?q=SAS-8484&prds=epd:13200626398500809947,eto:13200626398500809947_0,prmr:1&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj8kPH_7L_wAhVM5uAKHTtODiIQ9pwGCAg to connect it to the backplane of the server Is this correct setup Please note I don't really want to buy a raid card and flash it to IIT mode thanks

How good is a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB
Toby waiting replied to Toby waiting's topic in Graphics Cards
Thanks and after a quick look on eBay this seems to be promising I can find one for £580 and it's alright connectors and it looking like it's got really good specs so I'm probably going to be going with this one Edit: is worth noting I'm not going to be doing any serious gaming on this machine it is more of just a work horse E: I now realise I was looking at something different but now we know what is I am definitely going with a 3070 -

How good is a ASUS Radeon RX 5700 XT ROG STRIX OC 8GB GDDR -
Sorry if I repeating another topic but I I'm thinking of building a new computer and would like to know where a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB sits in the GPU world I'm going to be running a ryzen 9 3900 x 12C and have got a budget of really no more than £600 I know you can get far better GPUs but does anyone have a better suggestion within my price range thanks Toby

Thank you you've been very helpful

Ok so after doing a little bit of research I think I may now go with a Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO Motherboard with the originally planned AMD Ryzen 9 3900 do you think these would work well together also just a few quick questions would the integrated graphics built into the motherboard work as I know some CPUs do not support it is the stock cooler for CPU ok or would you advise going for something different does this change the graphics card situation and would duel graphics cards be a possibility here finally what wattage of power supply would be ideal for for this setup
-
Would you recommend certain motherboard to go with said CPU
-
Thanks I'll look for another board

I'm planning on building a new system and I was hoping to get a recommendation for a graphics card. the planned setup is a AMD Ryzen 9 3900 with a ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Motherboard. I would ideally like the best you can get for around the £200 Mark. in terms of IO I would like to stay away from DisplayPort as I do not have any devices that support it HDMI would be a good output with three or four of them being ideal. it's not necessarily going to be a gaming machine more of a workhorse for running four DJ stuff such as live video mixing and DMX control and among other things looking forward to your input greatly appreciate it thanks Toby

Kind of figured that oh well thanks for confirming it

I've had my best look to see if if there is already something like this but I can't find one and I am not aware of a search feature I've heard this is quite a common issue in Windows 10 but whenever I boot up my my desktop the CPU usage spikes to 100% and stays there for about 10 minutes My current setup is an AMD A6 9500 radon r5,8 with two cores at 3.5 gigahertz on a a gigabyte ga a320m s2h motherboard with no graphics cards and 4 mechanical hard drives powered by a Corsair CV 450 power supply not the best machine in the world I know Hope you can help thanks Toby
