This is only half the story btw... Epic is still banned from the Apple Store AND they must pay Apple back 30%, or about $3.6 million from the money they made before this ruling happened.

Well, the same company that planned to hijack browser installers would do something like this... Some parts of the OS still don't respect your browser choice, and instead open Edge (and use Bing if you were searching something)..!

    Meanwhile, on macOS...

Just a simple drop down menu. From the "walled-garden" company...

Jayraven reacted to LAwLz in (PSA) A warning to YouTube creators, scammers have worked out an almost fool proof method of phishing your account
I highly recommend everybody in this thread watch this video. I have seen a lot of people make comments about how "science people" think in different ways and therfore might not pick up on scams. Or about how you would be able to figure it out. Or how "if it happened to Jim then it must be some fool proof attack" or whatever. All that is bollocks.

Scams can happen to anyone because nobody is 100% mentally alert 100% of the time. Nor do we humans check everything at all times. We often makes a bunch of assumptions automatically in our everyday lives.

Jayraven reacted to Spotty in Resize latest LTT Video boxes
On the panel on the right of the page it shows the latest Linus Tech Tips & other channel videos. Can the blocks be resized so the video correctly fits the box and there's no black bars? It would look better and it would take up less vertical space on the page, and the right panel already extends the page quite a lot on threads with only a few replies.

The box for the video thumbnail is 320x240 (4:3) but the video thumbnail is 320x180 (16:9). Setting the box to 320x180 should remove the black bars.

How it looks now & how it would look fixed.

Jayraven reacted to dalekphalm in Controversial Sci-Hub Boss: "Apple sent my data to the FBI"
Holy crap, this entire news article is a non-starter nothing-sandwich.

Can we all please take a step back, take off the anti-Apple hate-goggles, and look at this objectively?

Apple, just like literally every US Corporation, has to comply with US laws. That includes warrants or subpoenas for data, if said request is legally valid.

What Apple cannot do, is unlock encrypted data from an iPhone. To do so, they would need to build in a back door, which they refuse to do. Apple can and will access iCloud data with regards to these requests. This is not news. This has been standard practice since the inception of iCloud.

Apple isn't some benevolent giant, but they're not "evil" either. They care about their customers privacy because it's good for the customer and good for business. But there are legal limits to that.

And no, Apple is not going to violate US law and ignore court orders just because you think they should "take a stand".

Exactly. Literally every US company has to abide by US laws. Technically any company operating in the US needs to do the same.
No offense but your judgement and understanding of the situation seems to be biased pretty heavily. You also don't seem to understand the difference between refusing to install backdoors to local iPhone encryption vs unlocking an iCloud account. Apple has been very clear in the past about what it is, and is not, willing to do via helping Law Enforcement Agencies.

They need a beating for obeying the law? This is a non-story. Apple has to obey the law just like everyone else. This person's gripe should be with the government that requested their data. And by the way this is happening literally every day.

"Privacy" means they don't sell your data like every other company.
