  1. I have a decently beefy pc (RTX 3090, ryzen 7 5800X3d, and 32GB 3600MHz cl18 RAM) and I like to install programs that I occasionally use and pretty much not delete them. The vast majority of them only launch when I click on them, and I never let them open on startup. Will having tons of programs that aren't open in the background affect the pc? I also have a decent amount of programs that DO open whenever I start up my computer which are: NVIDIA settings, MSI afterburner and riva tuner, AutoHideMouseCursor, remote mouse, steam, and razer central (which have razer synapse and razer cortex)
  2. I know that SSDs can handle up to 70 degrees Celsius no problem but I was very worried and confused. My boot drive is a 1TB Samsung 980 pro with a heatsink that came with the motherboard. My secondary ssd is a 2TB crusial p3 and it hovers around 32 degrees Celsius. I know that the boot drive will do more work when idle because it actively runs windows but what worries me is that it already has a heatsink. Is there something wrong with my SSD?
  3. Ever since I could remember I have always loved technology. from phones to electric cars to laptops to pcs. And now I (fingers crossed) will major in one of these three professions next year. I have always assumed that I wanted to be a computer scientist, but with a bit of research, I found that each major has what I want. but also I notice that each major intertwines with the other. I don't really know exactly what each of those professions actually does and what jobs might I get with each. I know it's a massive ask but what do pros at each of these majors actually do? what will each profession require me to learn? I'm asking because some of the answers seem to contradict each other, watched a video about what CS majors do and a guy said that CS majors don't do any programming (or at least not often) which after some googling revealed that CS includes software development. while I know that money shouldn't matter and I should just pick what I am passionate the most about, how much does each usually pay? I know that all three are in very high demand but I wonder how much these experts get paid? I know that my questions have very long answers but I'm tired and I thought maybe someone could teach me. I've heard that CS is so broad that I pretty much can pivot wherever I want in the future. how true is that?
  4. my bad. by affordable id say around the 150-ish dollar range.
  5. I've been on the hunt for affordable smartwatches. but there are so many different brands and so few reviews that I do not know what to choose. there are watches from Soundpeats, amazfit, pebble (not the same Pebble that Linus uses), Huawei band 8, AGPTEK, and Motorolla moto watch 100. the one I'm most interested in is the Huawei band 8 since it's affordable and I've heard decent things about it. but ive also heard that amazefit is decent and the motorolla one looks absolutely gorgeous. help please?
  6. lol i guess so. i think ill get the e10k since it should be louder and its reasonably affordable.
  7. found the topping dx1 and its barely cheaper than the k5. do you recommend it over the e10k? the e10k is 92$ and the dx1 is 115$ i intend on it being my last dac+amp the Creative Sound Blaster X4 is 186$. ive heard alot of good stuff about it but its expensive. unfortunately the amp dac market is dry af in my country. here is a link of the amazon page if youre interested in browsing it.
  8. both the toppi and the schiit are triple the price of the fiio. im not an audiophile by any means i just want my headphones to be louder. any strong amps youd recommend for not too much money? the fiio e10k and the Fosi Audio Q4 Headphone Amplifier are very close in price. there is the FiiO K3 for a bit more. what do you think?
  9. my phililps x2hr is a tiny bit too quite for me and i want to invest in a more amp+dac combo, will that help my problem? i know that the dac will not affect the volume but i cant get a standalone amp+ standalone dac due to my set up. also ive been looking at the FiiO E10K, what do you think about it?
  10. I know that the 3060 Ti is significantly more powerful but with how much VRAM games use now I now wonder if the 3060 is the better buy. what do you think? my cousin will buy a GPU soon and I'm wondering if the 8 GB of VRAM and the 3060 ti is enough?
  11. I'm using the lg cx and while browsing the settings I found the black level setting. auto defaults to high but I tried low and it looks fantastic. but the thing is that my pc is using full RGB (or something like that, anyway the "correct" setting should be high), and I used this website to check if high is the correct setting and it is. is it that I just have shit taste or is there something about it? it's not that the image is better, the high black level gives me super washed-out images when playing dying light 2 at night, and the low black level fixes that (basically on high black level which should be the correct one dark rooms look grey. low black level looks dark as it should be) I'm honestly just confused if I should leave it at low or if that's a mistake.
  12. I've always turned the thing off but I'm currently playing dying light 2 and there are no support for hdr (???) and was wondering if it's a good idea to turn it on. Would it work on older games too?
  13. The fonts have gotten so small to a degree where I genuinely can't read it unless I'm basically pressing my nose against my tv. Pretty sure it's gotten to the point where words are written pixel by pixel. So far I've only noticed it on VLC, qbittotrent, and wallpaper engine. I'm using windows 11 with a 4k 65" tv. I've included pictures that will hopefully clarify what I'm talking about.
  14. i think linus did it once. if youre using a pc then i dont see why not
  15. my motherboard is the ASUS TUF Gaming B550-PLUS and im wondering if i should get another pair of 8gb of ram or just get a pair of 16. ive heard something about not being able to run ram at full speen when all slots are filled. just to be clear: i already have 16gb of ram. and i intend to upgrade to 32 soon-ish and i dont want to make a mistake.
  16. By good I mean good enough so that I struggle with finding differences between it and the original Blu-ray with casual viewing and a normal distance away from a 65" tv. I've heard answers varying from 3mbps to12mbps and I just want to know a rough answer. I know that the origin of the video is most important so let's assume that it came from a Blu-ray. How good is 5mbps is? Since that's the biggest bitrate I could find with an acceptable size
  17. It's an AAC LC format with the codec id of: A_AAC-2 Game of thrones. Idk why I didn't specify
  18. the bitrate for yt music is 240kbps and am happy with it. the thing is that i can get a lossless audio file for the show but it is a massive file (around 160gb large) almost as big as the show itself
  19. it has an AAC LC format and A_AAC-2 codec here is the screenshot
  20. I know that "good" is subjective but I want to know if it's good enough where I would not be missing much audio wise. I'm about to watch a show and I saw that the episode with the lowest audio bitrate I found was 600kbps I have an open back Philips x2hr (not a high end headphone but not low end either) and I'm wondering if the 600kbps audio bitrate might hold back the show a bit.
  21. my bluetooth speakers arent being detected by my laptop as an audio output device. the problem isnt the speakers fault because it used to work perfectly in windows 10 before i updated my laptop to windows 11. i suspected that the update just installed wrong and did a full system format, reinstalled windows 11, and the problem still presists. in settings the icon for the speakers are headphones and sometimes it connects as an audio output but as soon as i try to play something windows removes it as an audio output.

  23. you mean re install windows? thatll cost too much and will take too long
  24. the mouse works perfectly but synapse (the app that makes maros for razer products) does not work at all. pretty much tried everything
