  1. We went with one with a Ryzen 5 4500U, thanks for the sugggestion. He loves it so far,
  2. We already have one in mind, We're buying in Canada and I think the one we're looking at is somewhere under $1200 $1000 CAD
  3. Hello, I'm trying to help a sibling pick out a laptop for school. The main question I'm wanting to find an answer to here, is this: If a CPU has 1.6Ghz, but is a quad core, will the presence of 4 cores compensate for the lower clock speed? He's wanting to use the laptop for light gaming (Minecraft), and school work. Its a 2 in 1. (we're heading to a store tomorrow to get a closer look at it) Thanks in advance
  4. a Euro is approximately $1.57 CAD here. which would make your list about $629.18 CAD Not a bad build though, I'll definitely consider that Thanks
  5. This is the general build I'm thinking for the minimum (the igpu is far better than the listed minimum igpu) PCPartPicker Part List: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/G9VYk6 CPU: Intel Celeron G4930 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor ($49.57 @ Vuugo) Motherboard: MSI H310M PRO-VDH PLUS Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($79.99 @ Newegg Canada) Memory: G.Skill Value 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2400 CL17 Memory ($41.99 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Seagate FireCuda 1 TB 2.5" 5400RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($77.22 @ Vuugo) Case: Corsair 88R MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($55.92 @ Amazon Canada) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 32/64-bit ($99.00) Total: $403.69 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-07-27 18:18 EDT-0400
  6. Budget (including currency): (trying to make estimates) Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Minecraft Other details: Asked by a friend to build them a new PC for Minecraft, but the official minimum specs list has several components listed that seem to be outdated. What would you consider the minimum and recommended specs in 2020?
  7. I think i may have come up with a solution, I have no difficulty hooking the ssd up to a different PC, running Windows 7 (Home Premium) and setting the partition that way, I'll see if that works to install windows 10. Will edit the result in later. Edit:, after many hours of googling and trying different things, it is now working properly. Thank you for your input.
  8. It had been complaining about an error with the install media (the USB Drive) and Ive tried multiple different USB Flash Drives, all being at least 7GB or larger. I'm making another attempt with windows 10 to see if i can get a specific error message. I had been partitioning a small section for Ubuntu (60GB) and leaving the rest of the space for Windows and system. Also I'm getting error: 0x800701e3 when trying to delete a partition. Another Edit: found the UEFI settings, im going to see if enabling UEFI will help.
  9. I recently got a Lexar NS200 SSD (480GB) and I have been unsuccessful in putting any OS onto it, I've tried formatting and partitioning, but neither have been successful. List of OS's I've attempted to load to it: * Windows 10 *Windows 7 * Ubuntu *.Zorin OS Everything is hooked up properly as the drive shows up on the install screen. The computer is one I've built myself, everything is brand new (except for a WD 4TB HDD, but that is less than 2 years old) I am trying to install via a USB 2.0.
  10. Hello, I'm trying to order a replacement air cooler for a family member, but I'm having trouble finding one compatible with an FM2 CPU. Does anyone know of any on Amazon or PC part picker? Thank you.
