  1. Hmm alright. I’ll be going somewhere next weekend and I’ll have another mac to make a boot disk and I will see if that works. Thanks!
  2. I do not have another mac around right now, but I was able to make a bootable El Capitan .dmg USB drive with my windows machine (Only the polycarbonate ‘09 MBP supports High Sierra) But my problem right now is that the Mac refuses to actually boot into recovery mode and I there have no way of actually selecting a drive to boot off of, so I was just wondering if I could force myself into recovery mode somehow. Or the Mac is just bricked indefinitely, which would suck.
  3. I tried Mojave with a patcher, probably not the best idea. Would there be any way to get the Mac to stop being mad at me?
  4. I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2009, serial W89211EZ66E) that is having some trouble booting into any form of recovery mode. I had recently updated the system to run OS X El Capitan 10.11.6, to test the stability. I intended to erase the 500GB HDD completely and reinstall OS X, but after my first attempt at erasing the HDD and using a bootable USB drive to install the OS, the Mac restarted and prompted me with a "Prohibitory" symbol. I rebooted the Mac, and then it presented me with the question mark folder symbol. Rebooting while holding the Option key or Command+R only bring up a white screen, along with my cursor. It then shuts off by itself after about 30 seconds. I am not worried about recovering any files on the hard drive, but I would just like to know if I can make this Mac work again myself.
  5. I know not many people use Game Bar, but I'm asking here because the Microsoft forum is of no help. Xbox Game Bar has recently started crashing parties when I join them. If I join myself or if I am invited, it will automatically kick me from party and also boot every other party member out of the party as well. I have rolled back a recent Windows update and reinstalled all of my drivers. I have tried terminating, repairing, and reinstalling Xbox Game Bar, and nothing seems to work. Any idea how to fix?
  6. Running a live Ubuntu session off a USB, and the installer does not recognize my 500GB NVME drive, only my 2TB HDD. I want to dualboot with Windows 10 (which is already installed onto the SSD) I made sure my SSD was in AHCI sata mode, and that Hibernation was turned off in Windows. What could I be doing wrong? I’m a bit of a beginner to Linux, so I really don’t want to try and create a partition and a mount point manually.
  7. Building a used system with a EVGA GTX 960 (4GB) on an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 board with an FX-4170. When entering the bios i have horizontal lines across the screen, although they do not cover a few of the menus in the BIOS. Is this a GPU or a mobo problem?
  8. Using a 1200W 80+ Bronze unit from some company called Sparkle Power. The cable that does work came with the unit
  9. I have an r9 280x that requires 6 and 6+2 power. I only had one 6 to 6+2 cable so I ordered two more. For some reason, when using either of the cables for my GPU, the system will not turn on. When I use my old 6+2 power cable plugged into either of the connectors on the GPU, the system does turn on, obviously with no video output. Using a combination of my old and new cables the system won’t turn on. I would blame my PSU, but I have zero idea why one 6+2 cable works and the other refuses my system to turn on. Any ideas what’s going on?
