  1. Does having too much blue strain your eyes more? Max brightness and saturation? I can see how that can work for TV, but for a PC monitor that might be too much. Same here. Are you supposed to use the monitor's OSD or NVIDIA's software? I don't think there's a difference, though.
  2. I just purchased an Acer VG272 monitor, 1080p 27", upgraded from an ASUS MX279. Something has been bothering me since last week: I can't seem to find an appropriate combination of brightness and saturation setting for me. I used to have an Eluktronic laptop from 2017 to 2020. I loved how bright and colorful the screen was, as good as my Note 3 and Note 10. The ASUS wasn't as bright, so I was kind of disappointed, but still used it just fine. I also have a Dell U2414 at work, and seems to have similar quality. All I had to do was just crank up the brightness and saturation level a bit, then I was all set. But with the Acer monitor, I couldn't just do that. For some reason, the normal profile has this sort of yellow tint that annoys me. I am not sure if the other two monitors have this as well, but perhaps I couldn't tell because of the lower brightness. But I remember for sure that the Eluktronic laptop had clear white color, no yellow or blue tint whatsoever. I tried to lower the red and green bias, increased the blue bias. Seemed to work fine for a bit, then I still felt as if something wasn't right. Maybe it's the white level, the brightness, or something else. Sometimes it feels like the blue or red level is still a bit much, and I went back to messing with the RGB slider again. Tried to change the contrast level and blackness boost as well. Warm color temp setting: too red. Cool color temp: too blue, but much more comfortable. Normal: seems to be in the middle, but not sure if this is the same as the standard base setting on the other monitors. User is the one I can fiddle with. Red = 40 or 45, green = 40 or 45, blue = from 50 to 60. Just when I thought I found the right settings, a few minutes later, my eyes felt like something isn't right again...! At first, I thought the brightness was too high, so l lowered it, but seems it wasn't the real issue. It's as if my eyes and/or the monitor were playing tricks on me. How "white" is the white color on your monitor? Real bright white? Light gray? Yellowish? I even have my two tablets (Tab A, which has perfect white, and Tab S8, which has a warmer color temp) in front of me and I tried to calibrate the monitor to looks as close to them as I could. Still doesn't feel right. I'm not even sure what the problem is, either. Maybe I'm just not used to the new screen? This monitor has so many settings I can change to my liking but I just can't find a combination that works. I don't think it's a bad monitor, either, at least the reviews can vouch for that. This isn't something I can just screenshot or take a picture with my phone. I wasn't sure how to ask this. It's impossible to tell like that. https://wallpapercave.com/wp/wp3156398.jpg This is a wallpaper I have. I remember that the background is crystal white on my laptop, but on the Dell and Asus, the background is more slightly brown or yellow-ish. How does it show up on yours? I've been wrestling with this everyday since last week. It's exhausting and I'm at a loss of what to do.
  3. Ah. I forgot to mention all the display effects like comfort view, blue light, adaptive brightness are all off. No apps that can intefere with the color, either. It's new and I have yet to download any app. The color settings you mentioned is only for devices with Oled or Amoled. And honestly, it has little use on my Note 10. I just set it to coolest. If you mean the vivid or natural setting, they are all set to vivid.
  4. I just bought a Tab S8 base model. When I compare it to my old Tab A 2017, its white color is noticeably not as good. It's as if there's a gray filter over it. I can't compare to my Note 10 because my phone already has quite a nasty case of burn-in. It looks like I have a brown filter on it. But from the last few white spots left, it seems as if this old Tab A is even brighter and has whiter white color display than the Note 10. I guess the display for the S8 is closer to the Note 10? Here are some pictures I took. Last picture even look somewhat reddish...? I checked the review videos and seems like I'm not the only one. Their white looks more like light gray/silver. But then again, those reviewers might have turned down the brightness, or their camera didn't capture the screen well. I don't know. But how the hell can a budget tablet from 5 years ago look brighter than a flagship phone and tablet? I'll verify this with Samsung support as well. Just want to ask around first. From what I've read, the S8+ and S7 also have warmer white, so they're probably not much better. If mine really isn't a defect. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. No, not necessarily. Sometimes, my phone would randomly slow down when I'm in the restroom, but it's hard to notice if they slow down at the same time. Especially since I was mainly focusing on the upload speed. Download speed did fluctuate as well. Not as bad, within 100 to 200 mpbs. Pretty random. Perhaps better when there are less devices running... I thought it was odd that a few days ago, sometimes, some websites would give an "unable to connect" page and I have to refresh them. So I go to speed test Ookla and notice this fluctuation. Don't know if this is normal or not. Moving the PC doesn't seem to matter. Not like I can move it anywhere outside my room. What does seem to help is if I position the antenna at 135 degree instead of 90, the speed often becomes faster. No they are not on a cable. They can be attached to or detached from the connector, but no internet if they are detached. Should I just stop touching this part?
  6. Recently, my upload speed has been inconsistent for unknown reason. Normally, speed test would show the upload speed to be around 10-11 Mbps. But since a few days ago, sometimes, it would drop down to below 10 or even 5. Not sure if it's the router, the server, or my PC. We do have many devices in the house connecting to the internet at the same time. But before, I still got stable internet speed. Today, sometimes it's 10, 11, but can randomly drop down to within 3 to 9. I was wondering if the antenna needed a reset. So I reset the router, and tried to reseat the antenna on my PC. When I did that just now, I noticed that one of the port where you plug the antenna in is loose. I can plug the antenna in, tighten it, but I can still move it left, right, up, down a bit. The other antenna is tightly plugged in. I do recall having a bit difficulty removing it, perhaps I might have accidentally damaged it. But I clean my PC every week, even the back of the PC and the antenna, so I think this is bound to happen eventually. Maybe? Question is: is it broken? Or will it stop working eventually? Should I just stop cleaning this part? I've been running speed test for an hour now, and the upload speed hasn't dropped again. It might again, though. Let me upload a photo of it. https://i.ibb.co/Lrf7hTh/20220503-022746.jpg The one on the right. That's the loose one. I can wiggle it even without the antenna connected. Is there any I need to do or can do? Really hope I won't have to deal with any complicated hardware issue again. Thanks in advance.
  7. I did. With both WD and MB. Well, I only have expired trial version of MB, if that matters. It can still clear malwares, right?
  8. I guess, but even in that case, he didn't have to lie to me... I can disregard the remediation incomplete trojan, too?
  9. He said not to worry about the message, the file was removed. Let me ask back if he plugged in another drive or installed something. He responded: sometimes cookies, but security essentials deleted, only left a message. What...? I asked again if he plugged in another drive or installed anything. He said no. So, what else do I have to do?
  10. Let me ask him. And no, other reviews were good. Which is why I took it to that shop. But then... the hell is this D drive? Anything else I need to do with the trojan?
  11. I sent my PC to a repair shop last week to fix some issues. Everything went well after that. Today, I was checking Windows Defender, and noticed that there were trojan in my PC, and it was found last Wednesday, while it was at the shop. https://i.ibb.co/5kPGHDJ/pc.png https://i.ibb.co/qr6QpCY/pc2.png The Zbot has been removed, but there wasn't an option to remove the trojan. I ran a full scan with WD and MalwareByte just now, and found nothing, either. No risks, no malware, no virus, nothing. The guy said he only reinstalled some drivers, updated bios, and ran some test programs. And it wasn't a virus-related issue, either. Notice that it says D drive. My drives are C and X. I haven't asked him about this yet. Not sure how to ask him so I don't sound like I'm accusing him of installing malware on my PC. But these were found and quarantined while he was fixing it. I'm not sure if he accidentally went into some shady websites or this is just a coincident. But I remember checking my history, and there wasn't any suspicious link, either. I also did scan my PC before sending it in, and didn't see anything odd. I'm more worried about the trojan. It says remediation incomplete? What do I do now? Thanks in advance for any help.
  12. So... an update for those who are curious: I took it to a repair shop on Monday, and got it back this afternoon. The guy swapped out the RAM, and confirmed that they are not the problem. GPU is fine, too. Disconnected the case fans; uninstalled MalwareBytes and Classic Shell (because they were trial versions which could possibly cause issues; I doubted, but whatever), reinstalled and updated some drivers and bios. He didn't swap out the CPU, but said the screws for the cooler were a bit loose so he tightened them up. After two days of testing, he didn't get any restart anymore. So I took it back and I'm testing it. Left it at home, let some videos play, then got back to work. Hope it's still working fine... $95 total. Now, I'm sure I was not supposed to screw in the screws too tight, or it could bend the motherboard. I asked and he said they shouldn't be completely tight, but they were a bit loose so he tightened them a little more. I don't think they could have been loose enough to cause an issue like this. And that somehow affected the CPU...? How weird. I'd understand if the CPU was overheating, but it wasn't. So $95 and two weeks of agony because I was too dumb to tighten the screws all the way in? There better not be another issue, lol. That's a fair price, is it?
  13. For what it's worth, in the first case, motherboard has a red light that indicates CPU has a problem. It could barely boot up. Second one has no red light on mobo, and can at least stay on longer. A chain of issues. Devine intervention on me? I don't know, sheesh, what a mess.
