  1. I thought the same about the gigabyte board. I am probably just going to return it and keep the MSI instead. Thank you for your response
  2. Yes I am building a new system. I am located in California so USD and my budget is I'd like to try to keep it below 900 if I can. Primarily for gaming but I am also a Computer information systems student so I will be using it for school as well.
  3. Hello everyone so I just started my new pc build after selling my prebuilt and I am having trouble on deciding some of the parts. I recently bought a Gigabyte B450 Aorus M motherboard for my build (https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b450-aorus-m/p/N82E16813145081) and it is coming today. But today I saw this MSI motherboard and stock and I remember reading a lot about Tomahawk Max motherboards so I panic bought the MSI B450 Tomahawk Max board when I saw it in stock today (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1507114-REG/msi_b450_tomahawk_max_atx.html). Also I know that one is MicroAtx and the other is ATX but I haven't bought a case yet I'm probably going to buy all my other parts today. So can someone help me if I made a good decision or not or if I should cancel my order or not. I also had a question about power supply compatibility with my build I just bought this power supply to go with my build when I saw it in stock (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WC79PPN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) is this a good power supply? I am thinking about pairing this with my ryzen 5 3600 and possibly an rx580 8gb (haven't bought a graphics card yet but I am aware that the rx580 is power hungry) Here is the list of all the parts I have currently for my build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7hwjrV
  4. I'm not too worried about the guy being able to somehow recover it even if I deleted it, it was a father buying it for his young son lol. I am just worried if I somehow screwed up and chose the keep my files option instead of the remove my files option and the files are still there on the system lol. And also do you know if the reset will wipe both drives?
  5. So I finally sold my old prebuilt (windows 10) to move on to build my own computer today. I was happy to get rid of it and get the money, until I realized I didn't check to see if my files were erased completely before I sold it. Now I am lowkey freaking out I can't lie. So last night was when I reset the computer, but I was intoxicated when I did it lol so I can't really remember what setting I picked to reset it on. I am 95% sure I completely reset everything, but that 5% is killing me right now, because there is an option just to reset windows and keep your files. But anyway, I was hoping if there was some way you guys can help me identify which option I picked by my specs or by how long it took to reset lol. I am pretty sure I selected the remove everything including personal files and with data erasure on (the option that says it may take hours). The rest seemed like it took forever, it took like 20 minutes to reach 8%, and my computer was a decently fast computer. I was not there to see it finish as I fell asleep around 20%. When I woke up, I had to create a new user and account and password to use the computer. The home screen was empty and I had to put in the wifi password for my old accounts. It seemed like I only had like internet explorer and the other basic apps. If anyone can provide input if they've reset an windows computer and selected the reset but keep files option or if they can tell buy how long it took please let me know. Sorry if this is against the rules or a dumb post lol Specs: ryzen 5 1400, 1060 3gb graphics, 128gb ssd, 1 tb hdd (both were probably at around 70% capacity)
  6. Well no need to worry about keeping anything now, I am going to start a completely new build now. With like a 1660s, new psu, ssd everything. After seeing my posts asking for help, a kind person on Reddit replied to me and told me he had the same case in the past and that he tried to do the same thing, everything went will but the Rear IO is blocked with steel because of the case. it cannot be removed and looks like it is stuck in place. It appears that the case is custom built for the motherboard and the Rear IO panel will not be compatible with a retail motherboard. I have just posted my computer on sale for 550 so hopefully I will have some takers. Thank you for all your help friend. If you have any more suggestions let me know.
  7. I am probably going to wait longer to get the b550m instead of the b450. I purchased the exact one you recommended https://pcpartpicker.com/product/39LwrH/gigabyte-b550m-aorus-pro-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b550m-aorus-pro. I don't think I will even open b450, I will just keep it until I get the B550 and then return it. And for the PSU, I was told by someone else I could wait for now if I wanted to, but it is probably wise to upgrade in the future. Do you have other recommendations for power supplies (the one you linked is oos). Thank you again for all your help.
  8. Okay this is my last update for the night. Did I just f%ck up again? Is the B550M Aorus pro even microatx? On the gigabyte website on the bottom of the specification page it says it is a micro atx form factor, but if you go to this review it says that it is atx https://www.techpowerup.com/review/gigabyte-b550-aorus-pro/. I am so confused if someone can help me before I lose my mind that woud be amazing thank you
  9. Okay here is another update: I panic bought this motherboard aswell https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1569448-REG/gigabyte_b550m_aorus_pro_motherboard.html Although I have no idea how this is going to work because it just says "more on the way", 7-14 business days which is leading me to assume that it will get to me just take longer than usual. So now I have bought two mother boards lol. I can't cancel my Newegg purchase of the B450 Aorus so I am just going to have to wait until it comes to return it or sell to someone else, it isn't really a problem just kind of inconvenient, I can manage to wait to get my money back. If anyone has any suggestion on what else for me to buy or do before I finally get some sleep for the night let me know lol
  10. Holy Sh*t. I think I f%cked up. I thought I was getting the deal of my life when I bought this https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b450-aorus-m/p/N82E16813145081 before it went out of stock. I gained much more knowledge since when I first read the list you gave me, and that b550 board is looking mad sexy right now. Should I get it? It looks like BHPHOTO doesn't even have them in stock, and it will take a while to get them. Please advise on what you think I should do. Also, I bought this 16gb 3200 ram set for 67.99https://www.newegg.com/team-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820331284 (I would have bought the set you gave me but the seller was very suspicious, and this was the best deal I could find. I know without RGB it is a little cheaper but then I figured why not spend a little more) I also bought a ryzen 5 3600 on amazon for 166 I am still deciding on what to do with the graphics card situation right now, I am leaning towards a 1660S right now, but something inside me tells me I should wait a little bit longer so I might just have to wait. And for storage I am probably going to get another 500 gb SSD and upgrade it more in the future. Any more suggestions would be great, but my motherboard situation right now is confusing. I wish I read this again before making my impulse buy
  11. Also I forgot mention will I run into OS Problems? The main thing I am worried about is having to purchase again.
  12. Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed!! Thank you for understanding my predicament. Also I did not realize I could sell my parts, that is a complete game changer now that I've realized that. Gives me a little bit more of wiggle room in the budget. I love the list you gave me it is helping me get a good picture of everything. However I was thinking about a 3600 paired with a 1660 or rx580. I don't really care for 4k I am more of a 1080 60 fps kind of guy. The most hardcore games I've played are probably Battlefront 2, AC Orgins and Odssey. And let's just say I wanted to keep the ram I have for now and maybe upgrade down the line can I do that? With all that being said what do you think is the best motherboard and gpu to go with what I've said. Thank you so much again for your time/
  13. Unfortunately they are old fashioned and hard to be reasoned with when it comes to do anything with technology(I tried), don't get me wrong they are good people, but it is impossible so that is why i have resorted to this. I kind of thought about it like "I'll just upgrade my motherboard and power supply and cpu for now, and then maybe I'll get a new a graphics card down the line in a few months along with more ram". I am willing to take the hit with money and bang for buck vs building a new pc, I know I am making a bad financial decision but I just think it is much more worth it for me personally to upgrade my old pc instead of bringing attention. Think about it this way, "I know if i sold everything I could've maybe gotten a 3900x instead of a 3600, but hell it was sure worth the trouble of not waking the beast"
  14. Trust me I get that starting a new system from scratch would normally be the best option for someone in this case. I am just trying to weigh all my options right now. Let's just say I have some "outside influences" that prevent me from going all out and buying a new case (my parents). I mainly do not want them to know I did all this, they don't understand the struggle of having a nice computer(I know this sounds crazy). So that is why I am kind of willing to throw the idea of starting from scratch out the window. Money is not really a problem but i would like to keep everything under 500-600.
  15. I am willing to buy another psu. I just want to do what I need to upgrade the motherboard so I can ugprade my cpu. My budget is $500 for this project including all the parts i need and cpu gpu psu and motherboard.
  16. So I have a prebuilt HP Omen 880-021 with a ryzen 1400 and a 1060 gb. I want to upgrade my cpu and gpu, but my motherboards bios is locked to first gen ryzen. It is an HP Higos motherboard which appears to have the am4 socket, but it just doesn't have any updates after first gen ryzen. I want to upgrade to a cpu that is 2nd or 3rd gen ryzen but I can't due to my motherboard. So I will need to upgrade my motherboard. Anyone have any idea on how to proceed with this? Also will it create any problems with my OS? I don't want to have to buy windows 10 again. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you.
