  1. It's almost all Xiaomi phones and similar, with ads and/or privacy concerns, apart from the Samsungs with their One UI which I personally hate, and one Sony phone which is too niche and doesn't let me take RAW photos (iirc). I'd much rather get something from a reputable brand with better camera etc. than a Xiaomi just for its headphone jack, and I do have experience with Xiaomis. The car costed me half of that, it's 32 years old at this point, it took me all across the country and has done many thousands of kilometers with no issues and great comfort, so I beg to differ.
  2. Don't worry about it, my 2011 Macbook's battery has been fluctuating around 75-85% for the last 5 years and probably about 1700 cycles at this point, 93% is perfectly normal.
  3. I know the struggle, I hope you can find something that suits your needs. I don't know any wireless charging wireless earphones unfortunately, seems to still be an unpopular feature.
  4. That costs more than my car. The fact is most mainstream phones nowadays just don't have it, so telling someone to go buy something else is not a solution.
  5. Agreed, there's no need to get the latest flagship for most of the people, midrange phones have gotten very good. I'd probably pick the latest Pixel A-series that's available in OP's budget. Mainly because I'm not a fan of One UI, I couldn't get used to it even after a few months of using a Note 10
  6. I would not recommend Debian for NVIDIA GPUs, I had the same struggle. You should be fine with Pop OS, but if you want a cleaner experience and Gnome, I'd pick something like Fedora
  7. Good for you, I've heard a lot of great things about it. I just accepted the fact that I have to live with dongles, and the phone I use is worth the tradeoff
  8. good luck finding anything half decent with one
  9. Thanks for your answer, I agree that an 8GB 580 would be a better choice, but I managed to find a 980 for almost half as much as an 8GB RX 580 would cost me where I live, so unfortunately that's not an option. I just bought the 980, and I don't think I could find anything better for $80.
  10. Obsolete meaning once it can't run my favorite games. I'm no stranger to old hardware, I was still rocking DDR2 RAM a few years ago and only upgraded to a Ryzen in, I think, 2019 or 2020. Not because of poverty, but simply because my PC is very low on my priority list. I have a capable laptop and that's what's important to me. Its Vega integrated graphics just aren't good enough for gaming, and a whole desktop PC built from used parts is cheaper than an eGPU.
  11. Ah, I get you. Thank you for your answer, that's definitely an important factor to consider. However, I feel like the end of support wouldn't affect me that much, as I rarely play new games and I'll probably have to upgrade further in a couple of years anyway, when this card becomes obsolete.
  12. Are you sure? I've looked it up on Nvidia's website and the newest driver came out yesterday, also I haven't been able to find any information about end of support for these cards.
  13. Thank you for your answers, I think I'll get the 980 then
  14. EDIT: Thank you all for your advice, I decided to get the GTX 980, it seems like there's no better option in my region for that price. Hi, I'm looking to buy a a used GPU on a very tight budget and so far I have my eyes on 4 cards: - a Gigabyte GTX 980 4GB for $80 - an ASUS GTX 1060 Dual OC 6GB for $90 - an XFX RX 570 8GB for $100 - an MSI RX 570 4GB for $75 - or a Powercolor RX 480 8GB for $90 I've looked at many game comparisons between these cards and I've seen varying results, so it's hard for me to tell which one would be the best. I mostly play older games, but I'd like my GPU to be as futureproof as possible, because it will be staying in my system for possibly a few more years. I'm aware that these types of posts may be annoying and I apologize for mine, but I haven't compared GPUs for quite a few years and honestly, I'm a bit lost. Should more VRAM be my top priority, or does it not matter that much? Aspects such as power consumption don't matter to me a lot, as I have a case with good airflow and a decent 850W PSU. The $25 difference is quite a large one for me, as the less I spend on a GPU, the more I'm able to spend on components such as a new SSD. I'd really appreciate your help.
  15. Thank you for your reply. I forgot to write a few things - I ran this setup on an AMD GPU and I was very happy with it, it worked with these different monitors just fine. As for the APU and the mobo, I have a different X370 board with 3 video outputs laying around, and if I was to buy an APU, there's a 2400G near me for a fair price, so I could just pick it up. Both of these GPUs run the same, unmodified Nvidia drivers (472.12), there was only one registry change needed to get it up and running (which doesn't make it any less sketchy ;)). That said, I know my setup's pretty wonky, but I try to do it because I had a lot of fun with the results on my previous GPU, and I like doing things the wonky way.
